Love my razorbacks, I’ve got 2 pairs, 1 from about 3 years ago and 1 from about 6 months ago, the difference is subtle but I do miss the fully gusseted tongues, either way, great boots. Worth the price.
I've had my Razorbacks for almost two years now and they're absolutely the best boot for the money anybody could ask for. I wasn't a huge fan of the inserts that came with my Razorbacks but they're removeable and easy to replace with your favorite ones. You just can't beat Jim Greene!
Love these Jim green videos of boots being made. Ive almost watched all of them. Can't wait to get a pair of the buffalo skin ranger or just the original ranger boot. Short of funding but one day soon. 👍🏻👍🏻 great work J.G.
I bought a pair of steel toe in july or so last year Go on my feet at about 7.30am, work all day (mechanic) and quite often wont come off till 9pm or so After trying a few different things put there, I've found my boot
Transparency is the key for JG I guess ! I'm in love with this process on how Razorback are fabricated. If you guys organise a Xmas give away by any chance, my size is 10 😋 Merry Xmas!
I really enjoyed the video! I love my Razorbacks and the three other pair of JG's I own. Anxiously waiting for the 8-inch African Rangers I pre-ordered. I just read in the comments that JG is working on a narrower last. Hope you don't change the wide toe box! Thanks for you guys do!
Hi Matthew, thank you for your support and kind words. The AR8 boots are on their way to the USA as of the moment and are expected to touch down around the middle of September. We are still keeping our wide toe box in the range and developing a more narrow range as requested to cater for more feet 💪
With the success of our wedge sole on our African ranger we’ve now made our Razorback an option with this sole. The softer rubber and wedge design goes a long way for comfort. As for the midsole route we are working on a new more narrow last and boot design which may feature a leather midsole. Stop early days into this idea but feel free to drop us an email for updates or suggestions🥾
That is the one criticism I have on the RBs, they are too heavy to be good hiking boots. I I compare them against my winter Churucas they are significantly heavier and you feel that when walking. Doesn't make them bad boots, I love mine, but for hiking there are better alternatives even within the the JG range.
@@rogercarbonell3696 I'm not sure I would trust a light weight shoe/boot on long hikes. I like the extra protection that leather provides. the sole is strong enough that I don't feel every sharp root and stone but still tactile enough to be able to feel the ground. the boot is roomy enough to hold my favorite insole so I'm comfortable all day. and the materials and construction are solid and proven so I know the boot isn't going to blow out on me when I'm 5 miles away from my car which has happened to me in the past with a pair of newer tech glued together boots. if I want to shave a pound of weight off my kit I'll just go to the bathroom before my hike or leave something else home. I just don't see the logic in shaving weight off the bit of gear that is actually between me and rough terrain with every step. as far as weight goes I could stand to lose 10 or so pounds off my love handles, if weight were an issue for me on hikes I'd likely be better off starting there. 🤣
On the Jim Green USA website, the steel toe version and the regular version have different lasts. Is that a mistake? Or are they truly constructed with different shoe lasts?
The STC last without a steel toe cap is what the African Ranger boots are built on. I just ordered a single lasted pair of AR8's built on the STC last with the Oringo wedge sole of the African Rangers. The best part of JG is their custom shop.
I wish y’all would have made this with the same wide toe last as the ranger. The ranger is great but the sole is not good. Y’all should made a ranger with a lug sole.
@@JimGreenFootwearOfficial I agree, voice over narration would improve the video. Perhaps you could upload a narrated version of this video in the future. Best regards.
Hi Barry, our insert in our boot is removable. We would recommend removing this insert and replacing it with one from around the house (EG. Old running shoes) or one from your local store. A thicker or thinner insert can adjust the fit and feel of your boots and hopefully eliminate the toe rubbing you are experiencing. Please get in touch should you require further assistance.
These are the worst boots. I can't get any work done while wearing them. When I have Jim Green on my feet, women won't leave me alone. I have the Razorback with the JG last, and the STC last with the steel toe. Overall, they are good boots. Thick leather. Tough break in. Pretty good traction on the soles. Easy to clean with saddle soap. Jim Green leather really likes mink oil. Lincoln brand shoe polish works exceptionally well. Clean, oil, and polish these regularly to maintain the luster of the leather. These boots need a leather midsole option. I'm not a fan of the poly-woven-fiberboard.
Killing me with the fiberboard. If that one part was leather I’d buy these asap. You built a tough boot around a core that’s guaranteed to crack and fall apart with moderate use within a year
Thanks for the interest in our boots, so we use a polyester woven material which is not the same as board as mimics leather to some degree, if you have issues within a year of use we will replace them for you. We then offer custom requests, and you can opt for a leather midsole. Check out our custom boots of the week videos where most go for this
