Have mine for a few days and I have fallen in love with them. I couldn’t wait for a barefoot pair… I trimmed an 1/8” from the heel to make them have less drop - see now the sole has the pockets in the heel area… at least I didn’t cut into them. When the time comes I will just cut the sole off, remove the shank and bond a new sole…the rubber of the sole is nice (hard to cut until I learned to use oil).

I just got a pair of these. It's cool to see it actually being made. Super comfortable so far. Pretty easy break in. I'm going to take them on a hike today and see how my feet like them on a longer walk.

I own a pair of razorbacks and the lugged sole is very tough and can make your feet hurt if you are standing on hard floors for too long so you are sacrificing a bit of comfort but other than that i can only say good things about the boots

They also have the Boa Boot on preorder sale right now. That might be the perfect match for you between the razorback & african ranger. Plus it has a leather lasting board, which means it should be able live a longer life. I wish they were making the Boa w/ a wedge sole personally 🤷‍♂️

Love my ARs- I was surprised how much room I had in the toe box width. In my opinion this is the best feature of the boot as I am able to wear them for 12+ hours without fatigue. I appreciate what you guys do! I receive a lot of compliments on my pair and tell them about your company. 🔥

@@JimGreenFootwearOfficial I'd buy 3 pairs if you made this! Especially if you had an option for steel or composite caps. I feel like there is a major niche in the market for wide toe box, zero drop, leather boots tough enough for work, hiking, hunting etc. The Belleville mini mils aren't bad but still have a 2mm drop, fall apart relatively quickly and can't be rebuilt. The lems boulder boots have zero drop but otherwise the same issues and are made in china which many people including myself avoid. Definitely not tough enough for the jobsite. And there is absolutely nothing on the market that has a steel toe in a boot with a wide natural toe box and zero drop. I'm going to order some of your boots regardless, but please make a pair like darnstewart suggests!

@@JimGreenFootwearOfficial I third this sentiment. I prefer zero drop and wide toe boxes. It would be really cool to see a high quality rugged and repairable barefoot style boot. Personally I wouldn't worry too much about getting super close to the ground with a thin sole design, having good wearing rubber and good traction lugs would be more important.

Hi Thomas, applying the spray will aid in the water resistance of the boot. This spray will not make the boot entirely waterproof. We do recommend testing the product on a small area of the boot leather before complete application.

Good question! The burning in the finishing room allows for all the thread from stitching to be singed. This eliminates the loose ends.

It is not fiber bur rather a polyester woven board, very durable and most customers get 2 or even 3 resoles out of their boots if treated correctly

I’m no leather expert but I can’t help but notice the toe cap is not double layered in this video as opposed to the rose anvil cut in half. Here you can clearly see the cap leather and upper is skived and stitched together rather than applying a separate leather cap on top of the leather upper so it is not a real cap toe. You can see the edges clearly at 8:29. Another detail I found off was the toe stiffener was stitched to the upper in rose anvil ‘s video but that is not shown here. Is there a reason why the cap toe isnt real in this video?

This is a good observation and an error on our film and editing team behalf. This boot was for a specific customer not wanting an a built up toe box and as a result of that we also had to change the way the toe puff is inserted. We get a number of custom requests that come through the factory each day hence the error for this video. All the other steps and procedures are exactly the same. All our stock boots and boots sold through online channels have the double layer toe cap.

@@alvinz4865 at 10:00 that that bunch of boots is not actually African Rangers, the editor inserted that as it showed the drying process before the next step. Our next How it's made video we will make sure to stick to each step in the process. We also went over our Razorback "How it's made video" and there a few steps missing there too. Over all the videos give a good indication of the process behind each boot.
