A series of events are scheduled to commemorate the arrival of the first Africans in 1619 at Fort Monroe. Calvin Pearson and Chadra Pittman Walke review this little-known history and preview the events, which include a world premiere of a documentary.

If they were "captured" from a Portuguese "slave" ship and brought Point Comfort, weren't they actually slaves and not indentured servants?

A scattered pathway of bones across the Atlantic showing the number of slaves thrown overboard is horrible!! God please find a way to get us back to our Homeland (Israel). Babylonians kept us enslaved for 70 years. Americans have kept us enslaved for 400 years. Please. . .God. . .ship us, divide the sea to allow us to walk back. . .any means necessary. . .to our Homeland.
