I cried watching this especially the new years part. I think we in the AA community should start a GoFundMe to get a documentary about your transition," African American in Africa" and see if you can have it broadcast on Netflix! the world needs to see this

@@jakiizjambo994 my first choice would be South Africa. I want to experience the continent from a similar convenience as the US, while getting exposed to different African cultures and amazing diverse peoples. From there then move to any of the countries you mentioned.

While I am impressed with your move to Africa to marry and live there with your future husband, their is one question I have to ask. I saw the adjustments you will have to make to live in Namibia on many levels since I believe you mentioned that you were a Howard University graduate. I have noticed that numerous Black females in America will date and marry African men and make the type of sacrifices to maintain their marriages. But in America Black females are usually ready to bail out and jump the ship such as when the times become hard financially and other ways. Many seek divorce when their are drastic lifstyle changes in America such as you will be making in that nation? Whatever your reasons for making that move I commend you and pray for your marriage and life to have longevity and be very fruitful. I have thought of making that same move in the past but the places I was interested in migrating to had so much political instability. "Peace"

Grace Johnson Maam, I am not quite sure if your remark is meant as an insult but I shall ignore it because it sounds like you have experienced a lot of different men to reach that conclusion. In this type of format you may not even be a female but some white male troll. May I ask, to make that type distinction just many men both Black men in America and African men did you date and have long enough interaction with them to reach your conclusion?
@Braveheartthelovely
@Braveheartthelovely 10 лет назад
afrikan men have a culture whereby african-americans spend the whole day hating on women and have lost their cultures as well.
@alphamale1984
@alphamale1984 10 лет назад
Grace Johnson Judging by your name Ms. Grace Johnson it appears you lost your culture as well. It amazes me when I meet African's living in the Motherland who have European names! That stigma alone let's me know that they have ancestors who were forced to or did not know any better after the Black holocaust era of slavery to rid themselves of their ex-slavemasters names. The name one shows ownership to either your African lineage or which slavemaster owned you or your ancestors at one point in time. Also along with that name we find that millions of Africans claim to be Christians, the very same religious that was imposed on them or their ancestors during slavery or the colonial era. The African was taught by the oppressing exploiting slavemasters or white colonialist's that the African god's of their ancestors was evil, darkness, backwardness, barbaric and a host of other negative attributes to instill an hatred and disdain for anything African. Now we live in an era where many African nations have claimed independence yet still retain the European names and religions. Those two items are utilized by the European colonizers and neo-colonizers even this era to maintain control of those nations claiming independence. In reality they are nothing more than African neo-colonial proxies for the Europeans and Americans to continually exploit and steal the natural resources of Africa while the Black masses linger in poverty and despair. Yes, many Black people in the USA are very ignorant of their culture. But the culture of Black people in America was diabolically attacked by this government whose sole purpose is to divide and maintain control of us all. I assume you are not a student of Black history in America as to the chain of events that took place starting in the 1960's when the many of us rose up against the racist oppression, tyranny, marginalisation, disenfranchisement and subjugation we still endure since the end of chattel slavery in America. Instead of working with the Black people seeking freedom, justice and equality, the US government attacked Black liberators using mainly terroristic police tactics such as jailings, killings and exiling along with numerous other means including overt and covert tactics against many of us Black freedom fighters, particularly the leadership. Personally I was still a teenager when I stood up and pledged to liberate my people or die trying and I have not broken that pledge to this very day. Time and space will not continue what I would like to address to you Ms. Johnson so I ask that you go to the website of an organization known as: Afrocentricity International which a secular global African organization that promotes Pan-African unity where ever we are as African people. Where ever we are Ms. Johnson we have been damaged by white colonialism and racism and attacking each other will not change the pain whether we are in the Motherland or in the diaspora. In your brief condemnation of Black men in America I felt your pain and hurt and me becoming defensive will not alleviate your pain. It is true their are many issues Black people in America are afflicted with just as their are in Africa. Unity is the key to overcoming those issues, not more division and strife. Check out this organization. info@afrocentricityinternational.org, also www.afrocentricityintrnational.org. "Unity is our aim; Victory is our destiny!" "Peace"

Kaylan, you are such a wonderful lady! Your going this extent as per integrating into your husband's family village setting has completely changed my perception about all my sisters called African Americans. This your extent is exactly what most reasonable men like me in the United States with strong family attachment back in Nigeria want in a woman. Unfortunately, we' re often too blind that we foolishly go back home and end up with rubbish black market type of ladies. God bless you, God bless your marriage. To the husband, sir, make your wife (Kaylan) proud. Make her coming to Africa the most positively memorable experience of her life. You are having a rare specie as a wife. You are great my sister.

Oh me, oh my, my American Sister. You made me laugh. I'm Happy because you have found the love of your life in Africa and sad that we are losing such a bright and intelligent sister. The thought hit me that the continent of Africa should have been our birth place, and it would have been were it not for the Trans Atlantic slave trade. Girl, thankfully those horrible days that our ancestors endured are over with. I'm afraid dearie, were we back in those days, you do know you would have gotten a severe lashing for not slinging that hoe fast enough!! Just got sad thinking about the traumatic experience our ancestors suffered here in the states. They are my heroes!! I'm smiling for you, but crying inside for them because of their sufferings!!

Have visited Sierra Leone twice back in the 80s. Feel so sorry for those people; first the war and now Ebola. Liked the people (mainly Creoles) and what I saw of the country. The families were strong, supportive of each other whether they had money or not. My trip to Africa was a dream come true, ,just to see Africa. Black people, if you get the chance to see Africa, please go. I can't encourage you enough!!!!!!!

Great video. I want you to know how much I appreciate people that make these informative videos of Africa and yours are some of the best I've seen. I have so many questions but I will just ask since I'm an African American from Georgia with family that used to farm, how receptive are the villagers in Namibia to using modern farming methods, machinery, chemicals etc. Are there any major financial obstacles you've seen to them doing this? I also ask this because I know in many African countries they have to import much of their food to survive. With better agricultural practices and more infrastructure it seems standard of living could be improved in alot of ways.

Farming is hard. My grand parents grew up in the villiage, rural Alabama. My grand parents were part time farmers. Luckily, grand daddy had a tractor. But you must use a hoe for the weeds. My grandparents would come a get us at around 5:30am. You want to get as much done before the heat of the day. I knew I didn't want to be a farmer's wife. But I feel lucky to have had that experience.

It's going to be a difficult journey adjusting to a totally new culture. Americans find it very difficult to adjust in this way over the long term. Sometimes we look at a man that we love and feel that there is no way that his culture could get in the way of a happy marriage and relationship but just because he looks like us doesn't mean that he thinks the way we do. I wish you all the luck in the world young lady and your fiance.
