Aquarium African Bush Fish are full of color and personality. These fish can be kept in Community style Aquariums with other similar sized fish. They are pretty laid-back for the most part but I wouldn’t keep them with overly nice fish.
When setting up an aquarium for the African bush fish figure on needing a 55 gallon aquarium at minimum. These fish actually grow to adequate size to need that swimming space. You contemporarily house them in a smaller aquarium like a 30 gallon but long-term that’s not a good idea.

The African bush fish is a tropical fish so you were going to need heated waters between the temperatures of 78°F to 81°F. It’s important to get yourself a quality build a heater because there’s a lot of poorly built ones on the market. You’re going to need 5 W of energy and a heater for every 1 gallon of water you have a fish tank.
These fish can be capped with other sized and similar mannered fish. You’re not going to want to keep these with sick lids because some of them are aggressive. The bush fish is not overly aggressive but it’s not super nice either it’s somewhere in between all that. A couple of examples to keep us take Meetze could be tiger barbs, severums or angel fish.

I had my guy for a couple years, originally with some Angel fish. My partner bought him and I really didn't do much research at the time. I had to upgrade the tank to 55 gallons (from 40) and did some digging only to find that they should have others, so I have ordered 4 more to join the tank. Kinda bummed I didn't look more into it before because they are very interesting fish once you look into them. I am looking forward to the newbies and how he will act with some friends. He is the last of the crew with just a couple pleco in with him.

I had Jax for 9 years now and he has definitely eaten over $300.00 in community fish within the first year. Now he has a 75gal tank for him self and 2 catfish. This is a predator fish with a lot larger mouth than you can see. Jax is 7 1/2 inches

Yeah that's valid but to be fair his community tank is barbs and silver dollars. That's probably why he's had such a different experience than a lot of people.

I have one that's in with Angels, several dif danios, barb sharks, red fin sharks, pink, albino. Corey cats, blue gourami, Japanese algae eaters, Chinese algae eater, Australian rainbows, Madagascar rainbows, plecostomus and prob missed one in a 55. They all have all have been getting along great! I know it's possible I'll have to make changes as they get bigger but as of now all he does is chil around the take. So far he's been a great community tank fish and easy to take of.

I bought three acutirostre the other day, in a pet store where I didn't expect to find such a species. I had one some years back, and I remember liking it. They settled in nicely, and started swimming around, and eating pellets the second day. They share the tank with peruvian angels, bolivian rams, colombian tetras, pakistani loaches, Megalechis thoracata, Mastacembelus circumcinctus, and Ancistrus. They are not shy at all, and not aggressive either.

One of my favorite fish! I've had them for years. They have the best personalities, even though they are shy. I had five in a 75 gallon. I moved and had to re-home them. 😔

can you keep more than 1 as ive got 1 but want another ?

@@toppocbr I had five, but they like to have their own hiding spaces. So the 75 gallon was good for the 5. They do get quite large. They were fine with any other fish I put in with them as long as they were bigger than their mouths (which are quite large).

I have one right now had him for about 4 years now it shares a tank with a senegal bichir made the mistake of buying small fish just so the tank has more movement, 3 days later they where all gone not doing that again

The mouth of this fish is only small until they open it up. Don’t be fooled. This fish if it honestly wanted to could eat a fish of equal size. It is just not likely that it would, but never say never.

@@maybeconrad5745 so far so good with the Cory's but did need to get more decors so they each had a personal spot to call there own. When they were resting them seem to like to push the others away if coming to their resting spot

Great fish but shy.... until the lights go out then it turns into a killer... it's mouth opens really big and extends like a xenomorph... but it's an amazing fish. .... just keep them like any other fish ... if it will fit in his mouth they will eat them...

I'm hoping to get six or seven of them to grow out and put in my Senegal Bichir tank. But before that my girlfriend has dictated that I must get her a African butterfly fish and since I love African butterfly fish I'm getting a colony of them.

would these be fine in a semi aggressive American cichlid tank?
@808beastsplayground
@808beastsplayground 2 года назад
Depends how big the cichlids are and how small you get the bush fish but if around same size I don’t see a problem as long as you give them some cover preferably plant real or fake hence the name bush or leaf fish have a blessed day aloha 🤙🙏💯
