John Denver is a fantastic singer and song writer. He had loads of great songs and sounded just as good live (if not better) than he did on the studio versions. He was more a folk singer than country singer. Most people react to his 'Annie's Song' but you should listen to 'For You' from his Wildlife Concert as it is fabulous. He was an environmentalist before most people knew what that was. He died far too young and the world is a lesser place because there are no more new John Denver songs.

Fun fact about this song, the radio DJ's refused to play this because they thought it was promoting pot smoking. It sorta does, but they missed the bigger picture with this song. When he went to Colorado, he felt like he finally found his place in the world and that he had found home. John Denver was an exceptional singer/storyteller and you should take a listen to Annie's Song by him. ps, Dude, your audio is too low.

I was a constant radio listener as a kid in the 60s into 70s. Became a DJ in top 5 market in ‘80. This song was played in Dallas constantly. We were lucky to have McLendon as a radio stations owner. He was innovative. Plus, everything back then was about pot smoking, acid trips and other stuff. Open minded radio was great!

This isn't a song about a guy who likes camping. Many people find faith in God in nature. That's closer to what this song is about. It's about the meaning of life.
