I love this bridge metaphor. it shows how violence always follows AFRO and that a simple action of walking across the bridge causes him to create a river of blood.
Possibly but it’s all in the subtext like these headbands have caused major problems for this anime world, like the people actually believe having a headband makes them a god. When in reality it’s just a piece of cloth with a number, it doesn’t give you god-like powers or anything.
@@peacemaker5030 Sums up real life to be honest, ppl killed over toilet paper or getting items on Black Friday. Ironically Afro never wanted power he only needed the headband to reach Number One and avenge his dad and then move on with his life. But unfortunately those who are savages will always obsess with gaining power and that will never leave Afro.
When you wear the headband you are prime target number 1 to EVERYBODY, ranging from thugs, bandits, assassins, mercenaries, etc. And Afro just so happens to have the number 1 headband which makes him the most dangerous man on the whole planet. That's the reason he kept his head covered with that tall uh whatever that thing was.
“The headband shall be ours.” Funny thing is that these two would totally turn on each other if they managed to kill Afro since only one can wear the headband.
They nailed a perfect niche that a lot of people wanna see: hip-hop and a fight anime. Idk why we don’t see more of this stuff. Guess not everyone has the juice to do it.
Hip hop isn’t particularly engrained in Japanese culture. Some have used it, Samurai champloo to name one. But that is more of an adventure/journey than a fight anime. If Nujabes was still around I’m sure it’d have been done by now!
This is a flashback to when he was No.2 wasn't it? That's why the nameless goons are challenging him, and it probably explains Afro's funny hat, he was probably trying to hide it to get a day off, lol
sounds like it, his initial growl when they first popped up and stuck their swords through his basket sounded more like "this shit again? cant i have ONE DAY?" than anything else.
My favorite scene in all of anime. I come back to this scene every time the details of it become hazy in my mind. In my opinion there will never be a scene more badass in anime.
I think the fact we see a beautiful blue sky in every shot is calculated to create that cool color ambiance I like so much. It's even the most colored part of any of the shots.
I Got to Admit Afro Samurai is Definitely one Hell of an Anime to get not only is the character design and background awsome as well as Samuel L Jackson's voice over, but the blood and Gore Fighting is Just so Fuckin Awsome and yet keeps in check with the insane hip hop beat in the back Love this Show
his skills definitely came from his afro thats why he's called afro samurai.! so its the afro that makes him stronger and makes him great Dont you agree people?
At the very least his afro makes people aim just a bit too high to hit his head throughout the entire continuum of the series. Daggers, spikes, gunshots, just pass through the afro instead of hitting his dome XD
Esse sim é um anime de verdade, já assistir muitas vzs e sempre me surpreendo. Sem espaço pra amorzinho furado e ladainha afro Samurai é raiz e nunca será Nutela...
I love the concept of this anime so simple to headbands one has to fight everyone and the other can only fight the one with the other headband and the story is just a conflict around the headband really interesting they could bring back this anime at any time
They easily could it never wrapped up what happened to the kid he gave the number two headband to and told him when your ready...be exciting to see what would happen next time they meet.
What an action sequence!!! That damn earring click, (plus visual spark) & near nose slash with their swords against Afro, bloody hell, is truly awesome!!! Trust me, I love seeing bad guys get their butts handled & handled well, but a scene much like this one holds much stronger when the hero is up against worthy foes. 'You have the hand & speed of God?!' Show me.
+XxVoiceofSurvivalxX hmm.. Sounds like a good fight BUT remember zoro can hit gears 1,2, and 3 I don't think Afro has gears of any kind but it would be a fight I'd pay to see.
You know what this scene needed? To have ninja-ninja. I already imagine him saying something like "CANT A BROTHER FISH ALONE? Damn Afro, these guys cant leave you at peace"
Just a classic among classics. I try and rewatch these at least once a year. This, Ninja Scroll, Gunslinger Girl, Samurai Champloo, Golgo 13, Cowboy Bebop, Elfen Lied, Corpse Princess and GitS SAC - these are my favorite classic anime. Nowadays I find the animation is weird and it’s all CGI/computer drawn and lacks the storytelling and emotion of the classic ones. Just my two sense
I'm still waiting on the live action version of this. Samuel Jackson was supposed to be behind the project, but I guess it didn't work out. Samuel and Tarantino would make this magic, with Wesley Snipes as Afro.
there are some cases with this 1. might get nagged by netflix and gets ruined 2. woke hollywood might pull some bullshit to make it appealing to "modern audience" 3. quentin tarantino picks it and its a hit (or miss, i know he can do it)
