Join us on an incredible journey as we attempt to revive a 1962 Ford Falcon that's been sitting idle for most of its years in California since 1982. This classic beauty has been dormant for over four decades, but with determination and a little elbow grease, we're determined to bring it back to life. Watch as we assess its condition, tackle the necessary repairs, and embark on the ultimate test - a 350-mile journey back home. Will this vintage Falcon roar back to life and hit the road once again, or will it prove too much for our revival efforts? Tune in to find out! Don't forget to like, subscribe, and share for more classic automotive adventures.

No bruh.... this is reality. It always seems suspect to me when all these channels find the old run down cars that have been sitting for 20, 30, 40 years and they not only get them running but drive them x miles. That doesn't seem real, because if the car ran that good and drove that good when it was parked, why was it parked in the first place. And even if you decide to park a vehicle with intentions to keep it, you go out every so often and crank er up and take er around the block. You don't just leave it sit. So to assume a car didn't have real issues when it was parked is silly. I don't think this is a loss for you because you have an old Ford Falcon in extremely good condition. A solid platform. Please don't give up on er. Would love to see an episode with an engine pull and replace. Not only make money on the video... But someone will LOVE to buy it when it's done.

i want put two cents in you are right but common problem is you think logical thats not owner does life gets messy fast back then cheaper to replace design were well ya emotion is key lot people my self want fine buyer to care is idea sad world when family pass it like a last connection and build attachment hoarding is life to me it lot money just parked they can use so that plus wifes want not need new kid hauler gets hard want keep wrenching lot people dont want to

@gabrielv.4358
@gabrielv.4358 2 месяца назад
I mean, I live in South America and I wonder the same, a working car wouldnt be parked for nothing. But here everything is expensive so its natural to keep a car running while it still can. Not common in other places of the world. Not impossible to start an old engine also.
@mromatic17
@mromatic17 2 месяца назад
ppl abandoncars or keep them parked for dumb reasons all the time. especially with a car like this. its slow and old so it really can't go 70-80 mph all day on the freeway. ppl get new cars and park their old one and ppl die and their old classic car isn't kept up by their kids or whoever. plus theres always loosing interest and might just get busy or lazy. it happens all the time.

M sister iwned a Falcon and we drove it from St. Joseph, Misouri to Anaheim, California and slept five hours in a Motel in Gallup, New Mexico, Had oil changed in Flagstaff, Az. and we made it in thirty two hours Trouble free rinning at 65 M. P. H. getting 22 M. P. G. on gas and two Quarts of Oil and we burnt Non detergent on the Round Trip. That little motor was far better than my 1956 Victoria that ha to be rebuilt in Tucumcary, N. Mexico with a whole new Crank Shadt Rods and Bearings. and again on the Return Trip at Stratford, Texas , Ford.

Really enjoyable to watch and the outcome is realistic. Yeah those radiators get plugged up before they start to leak since it's not a very robust circulation flow on that cooling system. It really could have benefited from a pressure wash. Those carburetors tended to run lean when they had a build up of varnish. From my memory the 144 was light blue (or yellow in the Comet) and the 170 was red, so you might have had the 170 there. In 1965 the same block, but bored out to 200 was a dark blue.

great vid! Yeah, the success of driving anything so far after sitting for even 20 years is tough depending on the climate, environment, and the condition of the vehicle is a huge factor in a success. So many parts fail from sitting. especially brake system and now fuel systems due to the crap fuels. Tires are another. I recently pulled a 72 Chevelle out of a garage sitting for 20 years and brake system was totally junk! No way it was stopping. Tires were rotted beyond junk. Yeah, it did start after a points change and fresh fuel but it was in a decent halfway decent garage. Keep on finding them cars and trucks and do what you do!!!

True that on front end... The ball joints ended up being the death of my ownership of a '64 Falcon. My paycheck back in the day led me to sell it to a friend with more money. I bought a ten speed Raleigh road bike and became a sick-list totally into biking everywhere for the next decade and loved being strong enough to pedal all over the then greater bay area.

Hey guys, if that is a red valve cover and breather it is a 170...144 is blue...unless they were repainted. Good for 20-22mpg with Fordomatic. Manual tranny might do better on the road. Replace that fuel tank and radiator and change to alternator. The Falcon generator doesn't do much below 1500 rpm. Bought one of these new in 1963. Kept it in the family for 17 years. Required no major repairs, normal service. No rust or probs with interior or finish in 17 years. Original plugs were Autolite.

You better keep that old fuel pump with the vacuum port on the bottom. They are very expensive and hard to find nowadays and they are for operating the vacuum wipers. You can use a manifold vacuum for them but it’s very inconsistent compared to the fuel pump. I have a 60 comet which is basically the same car and I have to use a vacuum reservoir to get consistency for the wipers because I don’t have that pump

I remember back in the early 1980's when I was at a gas station filling up and this guy came rolling in FAST. His car was steaming over bad, so he hopped out lifted the hood, grabbed a water hose and started SPRAYING DOWN THE ENGINE!! I yelled at him not to do that when suddenly "CRACK". I couldn't believe what I was seeing!! This was back in the days when some stations still had water hoses. This was a regular water hose though with high volume. He destroyed that engine. Absolutely a true story. Haven't thought about that in years until I read your comment.

If you start doing builds now yes your views will drop but in the long run, you'll build a community that came for builds and will stay. Hope you guys make profit one day.

We'll always do revivals, we'll just have some more builds mixed into the upload schedule. We sorta make a good amount just from ad rev but a lot of it just gets reinvested into doing more videos

@DailyDrivenDeathTraps I'm here for the long ride. Can't wait for more builds especially if you do end up puting a diesel in it.

So......the answer to the question "will she run and drive 350 miles" is a resounding "No" .......but to be truthful, it should be stated as "Not Yet". I reckon a damn good flush through the engine with a high pressure hose would de-crud the internals, but a lot of it would already be in the radiator now too....sadly. Regarding the potential "lean burn", a hot engine will always make your plugs look lean and coincidentally, a lean burning engine will run hotter than normal, but not 300 degrees for sure! You COULD cook a roast dinner or bake a cake at that temperature, but it's certainly not ideal for combusting fuel and air in an efficient manner. Man, I too have NEVER seen a gauge cranked that far around! When gauges used to only go to 230, I had one buried at the end of the sweep, but the gauge on the Falcon was at a whole new level! It's a bit sad because the car looked like it would just start up and go, with how clean it was otherwise, eh. You gave it a valiant effort....a falcon good effort (groan) in fact, but she obviously wants to rest a bit more before she comes back to the road. Glad you learned the 1960's Ford ignition key trick though - I kept yelling at the screen for you to just use a screwdriver and not bother with hotwiring the old girl, but hey - crap happens with that too, eh? I had a 1965 Cortina that I used to carry a small screwdriver to unlock and start the thing. It used to be a party piece that I'd wheel out for people in public places on occasion. Happened to be parked on the side of the road and was unlocking it in this manner when a cop car went past me one day. The two cops in the car went along, turned around and drove back, looking at us the whole time. I think the fact I got the beast started and drove off sedately was enough for them to leave me alone that time (hey - it was the 80s!). Never did it again though! All he best for the next one....and I'd love to see what you do with the Falcon now. She's so solid that she has GOT to go back on the road. If you guys don't want to go any further, maybe hit Josh (aka Sleeperdude) up - he loves his early Falcons and I'm sure he'd love one that's so clean underneath.

Haha wish we knew about the screwdriver thing earlier. Gonna cook a roast next time we go down before engine swapping it

Seems like this was of your own making. Why not bring a $26 water pump with you and just change it out? Like points. Carb kits. Still good content. Keep it up. 👍😁

What do you mean? we replaced the water pump and replaced the points twice. Carb kit we brought was wrong and that’s the parts stores fault
