It's been a year since my initial POD GO review, and it's STILL something I get questions about quite a bit. Now that there are so many guitar modelers on the market, does it make sense after a year of using one? Well my one major issue might make you think twice about it...

Same/similar. It has become a highly useful tool for me. I kept my delay/reverb and now use a couple recently purchased overdrives. My only complaint is the uni-vibe.

Hey Shawn. Im thinking about getting 1. I'm using a 50w JCM800 4 my rocky duo. I just want a good hard rock amp tone and then set it up so i can use it in pedal mode, straight into my mixer. Will it work u reckon?

As a bedroom/garage player playing out of a practice amp who never bought pedals because i was scared of being locked into a piece of gear that I may, or may not, “like” down the line. Instead of buying pedals i dropped the $400 on the pod go and i totally agree, being able to play out of my monitor speakers through my pod is also awesome. Not only that for people like me who play and are serious about it but dont have all the money in the world, dropping 1000+ on a tube amp and pedals is kind of hard to justify when something like this exist.

I bought a Pod Go to replace my Floor Pod Plus for live/studio amp-lessness (got tired of dragging around half-stacks and combo amps). I don't need all kinds of routing options or parallel signal paths, and didn't want to drop $1500 or 2g's on a modeler. The Pod Go does plenty for what I need, and tons more that I'm not using yet. You are correct about the sparse updates and I, too, wish Line 6 would spend time improving their current products for the users and not keep reinventing the wheel. I agree with this issue. I had the same with Zoom‘s bass multieffect. First there were no more updates for the B3 and then B3n came out with a new PC software for editing. After 12 month the updates for B3n also stopped* an now they introduce the B6. *at least no bug fix is necessary. The system works well but does not improve. If I want to improve if have to purchase new gear. Some for my smartphone. But that’s the modern world of business and the aim is to increase numbers permanently.

I bought a pod go on release. I love it and it’s worth the price for any home player. Once you get some good IRs, it shines. I do hate the lack of updates

Maybe its just me but I found all the distortions to sound pretty much the same, even selecting different Amps, Dist boxes.. etc. A little more gain here, less bass there, but at the ens of the day same dist flavor. Whats your thoughts!

I bought the Pod Go last year and the lack of updates hasn't let me down, but the lack of DSP has been really lame. I knew when buying this it had limited DSP but all the marketing led me to believe it was simply that I could only use a max of 4 extra pedals with an amp and cab and was forced to keep and EQ and volume/wah pedal in the chain. I decided 4 pedals is enough for me. Then after using it for awhile I start running into issues where if I pick certain amps or certain pedals it actually limits other pedals and cabs I can choose to pair with them. It's this mix and match mess that is just far too limited. I literally have some patches where I can only use 2 pedals that I want and the 2 extra empty pedals slots can't be used because i'm out of DSP. I also have issues where I have 2 pedals and an amp I like but now I can't use any 3rd party IRs with them because not enough DSP again. Its a frustrating experience.

Hey man totally off topic but maybe you've had experience with this or know someone who has. I can't play through any type of distortion pedal/preamp at my house because it makes so much hum. I live in an old house in the middle of the woods and the only thing I can think of is the wiring in my house is fucked somehow. I have a power conditioner and it doesn't help at all. Any thoughts? Just got the kartakou colossus preamp and can't even enjoy it cause of the noise, that's why I suggested you review one lol.

I have no idea. Usually when I have noise issues, I just take everything out of the chain, one at a time and try and figure out what’s causing it by process of elimination

It's not just Line 6 doing this, I had the same experience with Fender and their modeling amps. At least Line 6 is able to release products that feel finished and almost bug free.

They just did a 1.22 update but it was only bug fixes. I am hanging out for an update with the Orange rockerverb amp. I was surprised how much I like the VH4 model. I use it much more than I thought I would.

@@TaylorDanley They did, and it's awesome! With good IR of course. The stock cabs are really not that great. That and the limited DSP are the biggest problems. I'm personally fine with major updates once a year, as long as they don't forget the product entirely. I can also use other amps through effects loop (Marshall 8100 sounds killer!).

I think Line6 just knew that the Pod Go was selling well and didn't feel the need to truly support it. I got one when it released and kinda bummed that they haven't really added amps and effects beyond that one major update

is there only one signal chain on the pod go? so like send full amp etc to main outs and turn off amps and cabs to your real amp and cab on stage? or is amp out and main out the same no matter what?

There is a separate option, you can send the whole chain to Main Outs, and everything pre-Cab to the separate Amp Out (i do this on live gigging), BUT there's only one signal path, so you can't process those independently.

I am considering one of these, what was it you didn't like about it? Demos and comparos I've seen, it sounds better than the others of similar or slightly higher priced units, especially with 3rd party IRs.

@@TaylorDanley I run my Helix and Stomp in the front of my clean Marshall JCM2000 DSL100 and my clean Custom Made 100 watt head into 3-412's. Wet/Dry mono rig. I use the Amps in the Helix with no cabs doing so. Revv Purple/Red, Uber and BE Models for my Dirty Mean tones. I use the Princess and BE cleans for my cleans. Monster tones.

@@TaylorDanley ps, my cabs are a 96' Marshall JCM900 stock Speakers, another 2006 Marshall Lead with Mesa Vintage 30's, and my other is a Bogner 412 with 25 Greenbacks and Creamback 75's. The 96 Marshall Straight with the Bogner are ran as my dry side together, the 06' Marshall is my effects side. Together all this works great. Very satisfied for over a year now.

We’ll, I bought one… then I bought another one 😅 Serious though, for the price they are great. My band made a compact back line with the Harley Benton cabs and an ampeg 2x10. Works pretty great for us! I’ve done a live rig demo on my channel if you want to check it out.

Stick a Stomp or Reverb/Delay pedal in the loop or at the end of the chain to free up that DSP.

Plug PG into front of amp and disable amp and cab. Boom. Easy. You can still use the preamps but you’ll have to play with the settings

GE 300. I could dig into the mothball fleet in the garage. The GSP 21 I used to use with a DSL 50. Sick. I sold the Pod Go. I wasn't terribly impressed with the build quality.

I sold my headrush gigboard for the GE300, it was doa. Support from Mooer was non existent. I returned it and bought another gigboard. Never buyung anything from mooer again

The lack of DSP, the blocks you can’t substitute out are turning out to be deal breakers. Also the lack of quality cabs is a bummer.

Complaining about lack of updates on the PodGO versus AxeFX ? Gee PodGO is $500 and AxeFX is $3,000 or more ? If everyone paid an extra $2,500 for the PodGO I'm sure Line 6 would gladly put out lots of updates that will barely sound different, just like Fractal does.

When I mentioned why I went axefx, I was saying instead of the helix rack. My point being I think the premium price for the amount of support the axefx gets is worth it, IMO.

@@TaylorDanley Don't misunderstand me, it is an awesome gear but the updates aren't so frequently and aren't so exiting; for example: Line 6 has added modern amps/effects like REVV and Horizon devices, but in the lasts updates Headrush has only added some generic delay/chorus/etc and even in 2020 just added a 5150 which originally wasn´t included in the very first firmwares. But in general, you should give it a try and tell us what you think. Regards from Mexico

People spend far too much time tweaking their rigs and not actually playing their guitars. Just dial in a good tone and play already! That’s why I like the Boss katana, it sounds good enough for practice right out of the box. Recording music is another conversation.

I agree. I bought Nux mg 300 but I understood I like my tube amp sound so I bought GFI synesthesia for modulation, UA Golden reverb and UA starlight for delays and Its enough for me. I don't need much tweaking
