After mistaken ID arrest, Navy wife charge expunged 

I think there's a huge chunk of this story missing and I recall a similar mistaken name case of someone who was pulled over. They forgot their drivers license. In the case of being pulled over inside a military base, they'll want to see a military ID or a drivers license. If you have no, what they do is run a background check on your name and see if yours matches anyone in the country of similar age and description. If you have a common name like Jacqueline Smith, it'll surely match someone who is a criminal. The base police generally do not have the power to charge you or jail you so usually what they do is detain you and hand you over to the police. Looking at past cases of similar ones, especially that one in California of that woman who left her ID behind, will get thrown out of civil courts because the police were correct to detain her based on the limited information they have. Lesson here is to always make sure you have your license with you or have something that can identify you.

Doesn’t seem very unique when there are dozens of stories just like this one all over the country.
