After Rejection From Family, Gender Non-Binary Person Learns To Live For Themselves. 

As a woman who desperately wanted children & was unavailable to have any, I find it unfathomable that parents can reject their children like this. I'd have been so thrilled with being able to raise & love a child, that I wouldn't care who or how they loved! And if they had gender issues, I'd have helped them through it with unconditional love & support. Parents who put conditions on their kids should be ashamed of themselves!!

Thats how my family is. They know but dont want to talk about it. Im not allowed to bring women at the house either. My mom seems to think that if she prays, I wont be gay no more. Well Im 37 yrs old and still gay! lol

If am rejected by anyone and I mean, anyone...I dont need that person even if is blood......Life is to short and beautiful to waste it trying to change people's views...if they are not smart enough or they dont love me enough to understand that "this is ME"...then they cant be part of my journey.

Remarkable person...I really appreciated hearing their perspective: non-binary is an identity (much like asexuality, for orientation) that is seldom understood. I really related to what they said here, even though I'm comfortable with binary pronouns personally (I can respect other people's identity in that regard easily, although I'm awfully forgetful!)

I only have one sibling and we're both queer. I'm a cis gay man and my brother is a straight trans man. We were very lucky to have the support of my mother and her parents. My father was kind of uncomfortable, and then out of the picture. It's so sad to me that parents could choose to reject their child over gender and orientation issues, but I've seen so many over the years. Also, I guess we were extra lucky since we were kids back in the 60s/70s! (I'm 65 now!) Thank you for sharing your story, Parker!

I cut my ENTIRE family off for the same reason. Still waiting for my partner but it feels liberating to free myself from my family's bondage

I always thought parent’s love was unconditional but as I got older and met more of my LGBT community that is definitely NOT the case. These parents do not even know what they’re missing

Nice to see a story from someone that doesn't fit their dominant narrative. That everything always gets better. Not for a lot of LGBTQ Folks it does not. Lots of folks get disowned and lose everything, but that doesn't mean they don't learn to survive and go on with life anyways. It's not always the family comes around and sing kumbaya together and everyone lives happily ever after. But like everything, the greatest revenge is surviving the people that H8 you and reject you, that's how you win.

Such a sad story. I see a person who has made a decision to turn away from everything that represents their parents who wounded "them"/her? so much, that they want to give up their original instinct of female loving another female, to become non female, or non binary, neither male or female..They called themselves trans which was unexpected, because being trans actually means you've made a choice to be one or the other. They almost sound confused, but that makes complete sense. I am not casting judgement, I am disgusted with any parent who can so easily cast off their children simply because they don't understand them. It makes no sense to me as a parent. It causes irreversible pain, and sometimes deep self loathing to the extent that a person will change everything about themselves in order to numb the pain, and forget. I could be completely wrong and off base here, I hope I am. I hope they find peace with all of it.

I feel its very disrespectful of your parents to not come to your wedding in the end. At the last minute. It's totally fine to disagree with someone's life/expression/whatever and still be in their life. It sounds like you are so respectful to your parents, you've even included yourself in breakdown of communications between you all ( "we decided to eat in silents from that point"). It means you can disagree and STILL sit in the same room with each other to focus on what you love. Love doesn't know those boundaries your parents seem to have set. IT's a real shame they're unable to rise above those petty things.

It sounds like she left her parents more than her parents left her. I would never be happy if my kids were gay. I would not stop loving them either. I love god more than my kids. God doesn’t change his rules…but being mean and arguing doesn’t help anyone. I would tell them I love them but not in my house. There’s no kissing or physical relation’s. I would say that if my child was straight and not married. It’s not always easy serving god. And ppl who truly seek him will find he’s worth more than anything this world has to offer. We have to choose him over all our fleshly desires and then he’ll allow you into his kingdom. Life is just the test. The test to see if we are easily influenced. There was a Lucifer and a big chunk of Angels that went rogue. Out of their jealousy towards us…I want nothing the devil has to offer. Look around…prophecies are being fore filled. Euphrates river, the Dead Sea now maintains life, nuclear war, fast spread of word, television….even television is in prophecy when Christ showed John the ENTIRE world can watch two prophets die. I’ve been trying to prove god is not real to myself but thankfully god always proves me wrong.
