To put a suuuuper fine point on it, I didn't connect it to "insect", I connected it to "bug". Etymology of "bug" is similar to that of "boogeyman", things that scare or bother us. Spiders scare most people, so I guess it'd be fair to say that they bug or rather are bugs. Now, there is also a scientifically-specified insect called a bug, but that's neither here nor there, I guess. Have I insected I mean bugged you enough, yet?! 😁

@@jepeman Technically, yes. But it could be argued these games are Rimworld derivatives because they use mechanics and visuals extremely reminiscent of rimworld, while dwarf fortress' visuals and gameplay - while the same genre - are different.

People are free? Then get all of them. Bumrush the spiders. And if Rimworld taught me anything, that's a free source of food and leather. Plus "donated" organs if a hunger-games finalist needs it when we get down to a managable number of people.

Could definitely use some quality of life improvements. Seems as if game-play is very fast paced, almost as if it is a RTS colony builder. Maps are small and seems like it encourages you to explore beyond your starting boundaries rather aggressively given how quickly you chew threw map resources and acquire new colonists.

@@jepeman Yeah but Rimworld brought Dwarf Fortress to the main stream. Dwarf Fortress doesn't appeal to most people. Sometimes a game gets it right. Rimworld is one of those games.

@@dflatt1783 Totally agree. I've known for DF all my life, but I started playing it AFTER i learned Rimworld. Only then did I have mental strength to dive into Dwarf Fortress :D

This game just doesn't seem good enough to exist in 2020 anymore. Even as a free flash game it would seem dated, and they want £9.49 for an early access?
