Ebay Bumper for John Deere lawn Mower Review and Install. Aftermarket parts are much cheaper then Original equipment but are they worth it? I think despite this bumper being thinner the the original It is totally worth it, especially for less then half the price. In this video you will see a product review as well as a step by step guide on how to install the Front Bumper on a John Deere Riding Lawn Mower Tractor LT133 LT150 LT155 LT160 LT166 LT170 series.

OEM vs. Aftermarket: What’s the Difference?
"Here’s a question that we hear quite a bit -- what’s the difference between OEM and aftermarket parts? Before we begin, let’s first explain what OEM and aftermarket mean. OEM products, or “Original Equipment Manufacturer” products, come directly from the original manufacturer you bought your machine from...The quality of an OEM product will be similar to or exactly the same as the product already on your machine. Aftermarket parts are often re-engineered parts. Because of this, the quality is often not the same. This means that the durability or the design may not exactly meet OEM standards. But don’t give up on aftermarket parts yet - we’ve found that some aftermarket parts actually come from the same manufacturers who are making parts for the OEM’s - meaning that the aftermarket part is identical to the OEM. But generally, the OEM will provide the best quality parts."

Thank you for this video! It was a bit confusing to figure out exactly how the bumper attached to the frame and I spent an hour messing around with it until I came across your video.

I’m surprised an after market company hasn’t started making replacement body panels out of sheet metal. I’d pay twice the price for something that would last indefinitely.

Just had my hood explode when I opened it to check the oil. Thought it was completely open when I let go of the hood. Turns out it had a few more inches to fall and the shock of stopping suddenly caused the already damaged hood that had been repaired with bondo by previous owner, well it just gave up and fell to pieces. So I ordered a replacement upper & lower hood. It is ok but a little thinner than the original. The bumper piece was missing & was replaced with a threaded rod from port to starboard. Not pretty but it works with. Little alteration to the lower hood attachment points. Drilled through the outside to fit the rod through. I'm going with a thin pvc 3" diameter pipe with a piece of wood insert to hook to the rod. A quick spray from the can of john deere green paint and it looks ok. If it gets me through another season I will be happy.😊

I used a fiberglass rod to do the same thing and it lasted two years before the main part of the hood just gave up. I’m hoping this replacement lasts a long time.

My LT166 front bumper broke off and the areas of the hood where the attaching pivot points are located also cracked and disintegrated. So now, I just have a small cargo strap looped like a short belt from one of the top side holes around the control panel to the other side hole. It fits snugly under the brake release handle and does a good job of keeping the hood secure and in place, despite there now being no mounting points at the bumper end of the hood at all. That plastic is completely useless and John Deere should be ashamed of itself for this bit of planned obselecence. It's not like the engineers didn't know the characteristics of this material back in 1999.
