Don't miss the infinite combo with Ob Nixilis and All Will Be One, just need one ping and this combo kills the opponent immedeatly.... Ob gets a +1/+1 counter for the ping, so All Will Be One gets an oil counter and shoots another damage face, so Ob gets another counter and All Will Be One too and so on....
I got pipped to death with that one in probably the first hour of the format. I didn't even realize the cards were legal yet. I see Ob Nixilis drop and I was like "WTF is that? Did I join the Alchemy queue AGAIN?!" and then I died... 150 seconds later.
I've always wanted Wizards, especially on Arena, to make a creature Tribe based format. A certain percentage of your deck has to be of that tribal type and it's just to play cards that have no place anywhere but Limited.
it would be dominated by goblin dekcs since they already competitive anyway in many formats, and elves that are also already competitive in mujtliple formats
Ob Nixilis is a two-card combo with All Will be One. I wonder if a combo deck with the two might work in standard since historically combo is your best against midrange/value decks.
We've had the same idea 😊. It may be a devastating tech against unprepared opponents. It's just a matter of finding the more fitting triggers to ignite the loop. Trespasser for sure, I have a research to make 🧐
It's not going to see play. It's a 2 card combo that requires an activation, and each individual card is bad on it's own. They may look like OK cards but if you compare with cards on the same mana slots it's not even a question. Sheoldred is an instant-win if not answered and solves the aggro matchup, it's also very good against other midrange decks. All Will be One is just bad, the only saving grace is that it's an enchantment, but what do you cut for it, new Chandra? It's a win condition on it's own and synergizes with all the removal as well as invoke despair. In this standard a 5/6 mana card has to be a win condition on it's own to be good, even against value decks, because the same thing that killed your shelly can kill your ob nixilis, and you are not gonna be playing all will be one + ob nixilis + winning on the same turn, so how does it play, you play OWBO then pass turn doing nothing then next turn play your ob then trigger it with say bankbuster? What if it gets removed in response? Now you are stuck with a pretty much useless enchantment. Now imagine those cards were Sheoldred and Chandra, you are happy to be left with either of them on the board and instead of AWBO pass you can play chandra ping 2 things or +2 and double a removal spell.
Went through the some of the creatures in standard that training grounds effects, there is a janking copy artifacts deck with Drafna, Founder of Lat-Nam and Urza, Prince of Kroog. Doesn't look like a great build though, would love to see other people ideas
Pia Naalar can go wild and make a ton of hasty thopters with Eruth, Tormented Prophet cause everytime you would draw a card, Eruth exiles the top two cards instead.
I do feel like just having a flash threat on oni that you can discount with your removal EoT/ discount by sacing/chumping etc is potentially viable. Chump one of their things with a token, sac another token to oni, and its down to a 3 drop flash kill the thing you chumped. That's a pretty easy to imagine use-case.
You don't evaluate a card by how good it works in a fairytale scenario, but how it works if you topdeck it on an empty board. Think "if we're both topdecking, with an empty board, I top Death-Rattle Oni, and the opponent tops a Sheoldred, who wins?".
Arni Metalbrow: You attack with a huge (CMC) creature and a bunch of untapped mana and big creatures in your hand. You then get sorta-kinda-cascade. You pay 1R, drop a card from your hand onto the battlefield tapped and attacking. Repeat if you can. Any good? No. Interesting? Sure.
So the new Ob Nix goes infinate with "All Will be One". I had it played on me yesterday. All Will be One in play, then Ob Nix comes into play, they the opponent played End the Festivities which did one damage, which put a counter on Ob Nix, which triggers AWB1 for 1 point, which triggers Ob, which triggers AWB1, infinite loop. Fortunately I had instant speed removal so I cut it short after a few points hit me and I caught on.
the new Tyvar (as a commander) and Nissa cards make for a VERY sweet elves Deck. I've been playing this tribal deck a bunch today and went something like 10-3
CGB went over spark rupture very fast but I find it a very cool card, it has a lot of meaning lore-wise and it's actually very strong disruption for any opponent playing PW since it's a pithing needle that dosen't need naming and replaces itself.. not that PW are crushing it out there but still the card may find a home someday
So, i just played a game that I did not expect. I added a couple of Filter out to my Urza Planeswalker deck to see if it could prove to be useful against non-creature stuff. I played a person using mostly 1 and2 cost creatures. Filter out plus Temporary Lockdown. 🤔😮😲😲😲 very narrow usage, but WOW. That person did not have a good game. 🙃
Of the top of my head, filter out seems like a good sideboard card to counter the Incubation deck, if there ever is a competitive incubation deck that needs a specific countermeasure
filter out would be good in decks with a artifact based commandeer that wants you to sack artifacts for value ? blue and white ? I just made a deck in commander with Kiora and it's absolutely amazing - just neutralized a shrine deck easily
14:30 I think it's a bit of a trap, dennick having 2 power matters a lot for when you don't get Raffine, and the fact that it comes back it's relevant to block phoenixes and annoying creatures if it dies. This can be helpful against decks with spot removal but no board clears, but there's a bit of overlap with skrelv, like if you get skrelv into this your board is incredibly protected but also very bad.
I'm already thinking of a Vesuvan Drifter and Terisian Mindbreaker combo. Milling half your opponent's library on turn 4, oof! Just need some scry to arrange the top cards for the effect. A flying Tyrranax Rex isn't a bad idea either, or anything with big stats and effects for dealing combat damage to a player. I can see me building a lot of decks around Drifter, it's probably one of the better cards in the list.
11:23 Nissa is better as a Commander right? In Standard etc. you might hit a another Nissa, but imagine if the the only Elf/Elementals are some fat top end that you are Lotus Cobra'ing into.
Gold forge thopter not being legendary makes it not as good considering they all run plaza. Means you’re not playing any of them til turn 3. Still may be good though. Worth trying
Training Grounds will be great for Solders, the activation from their 1 drop will allow them to crank out activations. Maybe 1 or 2 copies could make it in the deck
@@graemescott5282 if there’s another creature that comes out in an upcoming set that also utilizes the reduction then I think potentially it could be worth it, maybe just a best of 3 card though.
@@bigsooie982 Not even good in the sideboard currently. You don't run a deck defining card to make ONE card better. Unlikely that it would lead to a soldier training grounds deck in the future either.
Coppercoat Vanguard is a Soldier that pumps and gives Ward 1 to most of the other Soldiers in the Soldiers deck. It's a 4 of in the Soldiers deck going forward, I'd say.
I’ve been playing an absolute ton of soldiers with Vanguard… it’s good, it’s not amazing. Definitely adding ward was the reason I won a few games, problem is there aren’t good soldier 1 drops. Would run it more in a humans themed good stuff deck
Strangley enough, I think Gold-Forged Thopteryx is actually bad in the esper legends deck because it itself is not a legend, so you cant cast it off of Plaza of Heroes.
How is Plargg and Nassari junk? It is straight up card advantage. Yes, it has to survive until your upkeep which makes it less than ideal but it is hardly junk. I could see this slotting into a gruul big stuff deck with protection.
Training Grounds represents WOTC trying to train me to forgive them, but it’s not going to work. I took my Kinnan commander deck apart a long time ago, HA!
Come on CGB, you can't go over Leyline Immersion (legends tap for five mana aura) without thinking of Rona! You know, the 2 mana legend that untaps each time you play a legend? And now it gives five mana to play spells?
If im reading it right, Ob will get a counter every time your opp taps a pain land. correct? Would they have to use 2 to avoid it or would that be 2 instances?
Yeah but don’t worry it gives almost nothing to it! It’s a good experiment on their part; sell premium five card packs on sheer speculation that some of the cards become playable later, then short the players like usual! 😮
i recall them promising to take a step back from overproducing sets. so, instead they get sequels now? whats next? March of the Machines: Prologue? how about March of the Machines "Post Credits Scene?" this shit is ridiculous. im selling my cards.
"Does nothing the turn it comes down and dies to doomblade, trash card" is a pretty narrow minded/cynical way to rate cards imo. I remember people saying very similar things when Sheoldred was teased, we see how that turned out lol.
Please don't insult EDH players by suggesting we would play dogshit like Open the Way. I'd have to exhaust the barrel, the bottom of said barrel, and whatever grimy muck the barrel was sitting in before I got to the metaphorical equivalent of that card.
I'm feeling a legendary extinction type card is needing printed. Also, we really need rotation this fall. Pain lands trigger Ob. Focusing too much on Ob risks decking yourself, unlikely for their health to hold out that long, but it is a risk. Mono red shouldn't get anything printed ever, it makes for terrible content.
None of the desparked planeswalkers are as good as their sparked counterparts. Additionally, Battles are not a suitable replacement for the planeswalker characters Vorthos' love. They could at least make the changes make sense in the lore, which they seem to be unable to do.
@@christopherbelanger6612 Sheoldred is actually not /that/ great against any thing not green or red. The other colors can deal with her easily before she does any thing. The only problem is that if you're playing a creature deck with her, which most have been, all their removal gets eat up by earlier creatures. She skirts around the dies to doomblade argument because she sits at the top of the mana curve meaning they've already used most of their removal. Her effect is not immediate and with every thing I've said she still dies to removal often on the first copy.
@@tonysmith9905suffice to say sheoldred is a lot better than all the cards CGB dismissed here. Nobody knows the future including him but in general a five drop durdle with no effect on the game when played isn’t good enough etc.
