I found the debate to be a waste of time. People who hold the belief of “investing in Pokémon isn’t real” refuse to listen to legitimate points and data from the last 20 years. You can be a collector, you can hate other people for making money on holding sealed products, you CANT deny the fact that every. single. booster box. In HISTORY, has gone up over time if bought at MSRP or below
Its not about it being real or not my gosh where do you people come out with these arguments that nobody is making? It is about pretending something is an investment when it is just speculation and that all investbros are not financial advisors and should not give financial advices without a disclaimer.
There’s an interest for investors to urge the public to buy into the stuff they’re investing in to raise the value, so it’s a valid concern for people to call out investing media.. the value of Pokémon tcg products is arguably (one of the main points for the debate) as volatile as buying single stocks, which warrants a disclaimer.. the currency of a developed nation is a bad comparison btw
The gaslighting that investors are not hated was amazing lol. Ive had so much hate thrown my way for investing in pokemon its crazy. The internet is toxic and anyone that claims otherwise is lying. Lol😂
A lot of Investbros here in the comments behind accounts with random numbers in the names and no videos or content in their channel should tell you all about who is really butthurt that people are pointing the finger at people who consider buying a couple of ETBS an 'investment' when they can barely afford to pay rent
You have zero videos lol and your picture is a pill. If you knew anything about “investment bro” you would realize people don’t consider etb a great investment
Man. Stop defending Okpossum. That guy was emotional, aggressive, ignoring previous points and making bad arguments the whole stream. That was my first experience with him and it was a terrible impression.
I think it’s a no brainer to continue to do those type of streams. It was clearly a dub (500+ ppl) streamers have been looking for new content and I think you found it. I think TCAgaming, Pokebeard, and Danny Phan, and pokeOz would be good for long time people, pokeNE would be ok
I enjoyed the stream. Next time I would pose questions and give each person a turn. The moderator cannot be part of the debate. The moderator can mute/unmute when each person is done speaking. No time limit. Let each person make their point. For rebuttals, people raise their hands and are called on. I think this structure would prevent a lot of the reactionary/personal stuff (though I think everyone was pretty civil for the most part). I’d also have another person responsible for live chat/questions who also should not be part of the debate. The free-for-all can be done after all the prepared questions are gone through but still should be moderated with mute/unmute to ensure civility.
@@unsupportiveperson7724 Nobody is saying it will but also nobody is saying it won t live a long life either besides people who don t understand what mass produced scarcity is.
I agree that people attack character to get their point across. When I say too much realism in Minecraft causes the game to be less fun. People enter my comment section with personal attacks to get their idea in there.
Can I just say, there is an upside to all the investor bros and scalpers. Pokemon and other card makers (Bandai etc) don't know or care who is buying their product. All they see is numbers. So all the scalpers buying all the stock now? Well, mass reprints glutting the market are to be expected. We've seen it with black flame, we saw it with shiny treasure ex and we're eventually going to see it with other sets too. In the short term they're hurting players and small time creators, in the long term, they're shooting themselves really. If everyone is stocking up on sealed, then no one wins really. End of the day if you're investing money into cardboard in the hope of making money, you're a lot better off going into actual stocks. Less physical assets (which take up space and cost a lot to maintain too) and a lot less risk in terms of finding a buyer
It's certainly going to get oversaturated eventually. Might not be soon but It'll come if the investment channels keep growing. I enjoy speculating in Pokemon but it's getting riskier by the day (On the modern stuff, not so much the vintage).
Definitely re: the stocks. Spicy take but Pokemon cards as an "investment portfolio" is literally children playing at being adults. "Woo, I made $200 by hoarding children's products! I'm an ~investor~". Meanwhile actual professional investors have MUCH higher goals for their returns
I would love to see the portfolio of one of the investors. If you're gonna preach about investing then put your money where your mouth is and show us the profit
I hope you start saving and investing for your future like right now. I don't know your age, but I cringed when you said you have no investments and the more you wait, the less you'll have at retirement.
I have noticed that my question that I shared in your comments and now rev and ryan posts don't come up in my feed...I haven't seen feed yet I wanted to watch what you said first..Ozzie..plus I like what you said but I haven't seen his thoughts..ryan can't cope with his autism and new people I think..I feel like some sour things have been said and now it's a usa vs down under battle...the Ozzie point of views and kiwis on pokemon is making a problem with the usa people and there post.respect
The real problem with all the investbros is the damage that this does to the hobby in relation to the people who are the bread and butter of this hobby i.e the kids. By pumping and milking up the prices of cards and boxes this makes the cards less accessible to kids and parents who don t have a lot of disposable income. $150 is still $150 and for a family this can be a lot of food versus a couple ETBs or a booster box. These Investbros do not realize the damage that they do with their investing bull**** when it makes collecting cards for kids more expensive. And of course this is about money so they don t give a f about the kids
What is the problem? The sets were/are readily available to buy. You dumb collectors only cry about it once they are out of stock and missed your chance to get in at a good price
