Same! Also grabbed a penon anniversary…but sadly there is a vibration noise in the left ear if not fitted correctly, but it does go away when I pull my ear to release sone pressure. Never experienced this before, is this slight driver flex? It sounds like metallic humming effect on bassy vocals. Either way both the p8 and penon ae sound amazing (when the ae isn’t buzzing ung) in their own way. Ae sounds like a kilobuck.

I for one am not going to find out :) When I bought the P5 I thought that was my absolute limit…but I talked myself into the P8, or rather could not talk myself out of it…but honestly…that has to be it for me. Has to me. Better be. No has to be!

Not much better, trust me. Just eq the p8 if you want more note weight. The penon 10th anniversary iem is really good, kilobuck tribrid for $499. Or kiwi ears quintet for $219. P8 isn’t quite kilobuck, but it’s so close. Eq can probably turn it into one though. You aren’t really going to get more details than the p8, but you will get better extension (depending on what you get) and clearer details (if it has electrostatics). Also better technicality. Now if aful made this with Sonian ba for mids and Knowles for highs…. Sonian electro stats for ultra highs …..that would be next level.

I have w1 larges on my p8, I do have spiral dots and final e I could try, but wouldn’t finals cut down the already smooth treble? Like kill the air in exchange for more bass?

I “only” own 11 iems (which is, some would say, 10 more than I need :) Most were bought to find out what can be done at a certain price point. For casual listening…while doing something else besides music, right now I like the Kiwi Ears Quartet. For actually listening to music when I want to concentrate on the music, the Aful Performer 8 is growing on me. For a unique experience of the space surrounding the music, the CVJ Mei offers something special. But there are literally 1000s of iems I have not heard. In iems that I might be able to justify spending $ on, I would still like to hear the Final Audio A5000. At the opposite end (single driver vs complex mix) I have a pair of the new Kiwi Ears Quintets reserved, just because I want to see what they did with all those different drivers, and they are due out today. I am really tempted to try the Juzear 41T as so many people like it, but I am afraid it is “just good” and not anything special. I am looking for special now…I have enough good iems :)

Not a question of better! Different. P8s are more rounded, and perhaps a bit more refined. Quintets are “wow!” Both deliver the music in a very satisfying way…just different ways.

Ah, thank you for the detailed response! I'm in love with my Quintets, I can't imagine anything better haha. They've beat out every sub $500 IEM I've tried @@StephenIngraham

Maybe it is just wishful thinking on my part (and many others), but I definitely hear an improvement over the first 30 or so hours of playing. Most often in the quality, not quantity, of the bass. :)

@@StephenIngraham the ears and the brain are known to adapt to common sound environments I think that might have been the case here as well ✌️

Most of the “proof” that burn in does not exist are based on amplitude measurements…and I agree that the amplitude of the bass does not change over time, unless of course it decreases due to wear. However what I hear is a change in the harmonic balance of the bass…the, shall we say, texture of the bass, and I am not sure how you would measure that. And, of course, you might be right. It could be me adapting to the balance of harmonies :)

@@StephenIngraham I can never know for sure, but I guess the actual designer of the sennheiser DD and leader of their audiophile department should know better than we do 😅

@@StephenIngraham btw I have completely switched off DDs atm. Been using the Shure SE846 (4BA) for daily use and the KSE-1200 (FR EST) and GL-AMT16 (FR AMT) for special purposes Can really recommend those!
