Awesome work! I am in the middle of doing the clutch on my 93 camry v6. I had same problem where I can't shift it anymore, but luckily it broke when I was home.

Good luck. Just watch those bolts from underneath on the cover. As I think I mentioned, I was prying on that thing a bit before I realized they were there, fortunately not too much I guess. Assuming the same sort of design of course.

I love my 99 solara manual. Apart from going fast and the suspension - I love how fast it stops (that's the most important especially in Seattle). Now going up a hill, the clutch is slipping so I'm preparing for this fun. I've done the brakes, the suspension but I never heard of the Highlander mod - how much faster does it stop? Cheap insurance I've avoided so many accidents just with the stock brakes (but do not like it when someone's following close as they might hit me)

The braking is NOTICABLY better, but if you don't swap the brake master cylinder, the pedal feel is not so great. It travels more, so doesn't feel great, but you do get used to it. I have recently discovered that the rear brakes from a 2002 Avalon are also larger than the rear brakes on the Solara and I think they will bolt on in the same manner, but I haven't done it yet. When I do, I'll post up a video.

This video is awesome, thanks! I was wondering if you could point out where the reverse light switch is on the transmission? Both my reverse lights are dead, and pretty sure it's the switch on my 2000 manual V6 Solara

You make it look easy, thanks. Just bought a Solara as my first car and I suspect it had quite a bit of clutch wear

Thanks. Believe it or not, I was trying to keep it short. LOL. But yeah. To me this repair is a 9/10 difficulty. The only thing I think would be more difficult is rebuilding an engine which requires more specialized knowledge. Good luck with your Solara. The reason I keep fixing ours is because it is the most reliable car either my wife or I have ever owned. Not sure if I mentioned it but it has 340,000 miles on it. It's a great car. I hope yours is too.

@@antimattergarage8147 340k... that just made me so happy as I love my Solara it has 245k and don't want to part with it :) They don't make real manual transmissions anymore do they?

Hi quick question the retainer clips that hold the shift cable in place on he transmission can show a video on removal and install? I've lost mine so car barely goes into gear but when I ordered oem ones there way to big.

What year Highlander did you get the front brakes from? Thinking about buying a Solara V6 that needs a clutch

They are from a 2008-2013 Highlander. You will need the caliper, rotor and pads. All those parts bold right on. As I noted, the calipers are dual piston and therefore use more fluid, which causes the pedal to travel further before braking. I don't care for it, but I pretty quickly got used to it and it feels normal now. Online others said that can be eliminated if you also get the brake master cylinder from the Highlander, but I cannot verify this because I didn't do that. Also, I highly recommend getting the dust shield from the Highlander and putting it on BEFORE reassembling. I did not do this and the smaller Solara dust shield interferes with the rotor, so I had to bend it out of the way. I would prefer to get the proper sized dust shield, but I think you might have to have the hub pressed off to get the shield on, unless you come up with another solution. Maybe slit it, bend it on and bolt it to the old one or something. Not sure since I didn't do this either. The improvement in braking is noticeable and worth it! Good luck.

Where did you get the headlight/marker lights?

The marker lights I got on ebay, but one of them is cracked and I couldn't find the blacked out ones anymore. You might keep checking. Maybe they will return if you want to buy them. The headlights I made custom. You can see how I did it in the second episode "AG 002 Making my own custom headlights."
