Über die letzten vierzehn Jahre hinweg hat die aus dem Pazifischen Nordwesten der USA stammende Gruppe Agalloch einen facettenreichen Sound geprägt, der sich über die Klanglandschaften von Black Metal, Folk, Progressive Rock und Ambient erstreckt und ihr in der Szene zeitgenössischer dunkler Musik einen Pionierstatus verschafft hat. Ihr dynamisches Herangehen an den Metal fand seinen Beginn mit dem Demo “From Which of this Oak”, welches 1997 veröffentlicht wurde. Auf diesem Demo wurde eine tiefe Verbindung zu frühen Aufnahmen von Bands wie Ulver, In the Woods und Katatonia offenbar. ...

This album is perfect in my opinion. I wouldn't change a second. I listened to it whilst reading 2000ads 'Kingdom' and it went so perfectly, I will forever hear 'Gene the Hack Man's' voice as these vocals. Then after I finished the comic I did some trance-dance to the music and during the trance the line 'a curse on those...' came through clear as day... I used to live in the woods, until my home was destroyed by developers. Perfect album.

Amazing album. It seems to seamlessly translate from guttural and raw, to depressive and melancholicly soft, to fiercely dark and deep. Love it.🖤💀☠
