Looks amazing. The Wandavison team is great. I also have not seen this much excitement for a Marvel tv show on my twitter feed since probably Moon Knight.
Speak for yourself, but I think Agatha looks way more exciting than any other Marvel project from the past two years. Looks like American Horror Story.
the MCU absolutely does need this right now. it’s a dark, horror-like project that will help ease audiences and the studio into what they’re about to do with Blade and Midnight Suns. the idea that “no one asked for this” or “the MCU doesn’t need this” is so brainless and boring and can be said about every single MCU project ever produced. this is a major chapter in the MCU story and major development for important characters. how is this not needed?????
You don’t see connection between horror and MCU…um you forget Dr Strange 2? People forget how big of a standout Agatha/Kathryn Hahn was back in Wandavision where even the Agatha song at one point was topping iTunes Charts.
"Horror" in general is an extremely loose connection. By that definition everything fits perfectly within the MCU because there's a loose genre connection to it. Certainly you can see that just because Doctor Strange 2 had horror in a big spectacle adventure doesn't mean anything with horror is an obvious fit in the MCU moving forward. This is very obviously something different. For many that will be a good thing. But it's also not unreasonable for people to scratch their head at something like this. Saying that "people forget" is exactly my point I made in this video. If this came out in 2022, it probably would have bee a fun follow up to Wandavision. Coming out nearly 4 years after that show ended, it feels like too little too late. People moved on. They forgot. This is the problem with doing so many niche projects like this. Instead of getting invested in new characters and plotlines, we keep moving onto the next one. And there's 3 year gaps between when we see characters. Thus of course we forget.
@@SeanChandlerTalksAbout I want to say that the Agatha spinoff was because of positive reception she had in Wandavision. They started in fall 2021 (same year Wandavision came out) development of the show and filming started in 2023.
@@SeanChandlerTalksAboutyes and also too many stories going on that haven’t been connected yet, Shang chi, venom, the marvels, Hawkeye, Sam Wilson captain America, Quantumania, Thor 4, secret invasion, eternals, and now this. we don’t really have a center focused point rn in the mcu, guardians 3 connected to it’s 2 previous ones and Loki now connecting to Deadpool 3 and some of what quantumania had. It’s not enough. Now with majors gone quantamania was sort of a waste plus it wasn’t written well, and also Loki, although Loki seems to be the most connected to what the mcu should be focusing on. These other projects need to connect soon or else it will not be good. Deadpool 3 is going in the right direction, but then you start branching out with shows like this and everything seems to be lost. Only thing that can redeem this show is if it connects to doctor strange 2 and then tie another project to doctors strange 2 which would close a bit of the focus gap. But Marvel has a long way to go in connecting all these projects. It will not be easy so this is why this show is a very risky move especially at this time.
Don't know how I feel about this one lol. I'm curious and I am glad it's the same showrunner from Wandavision, but I don't know if the humour will work for me.
To be fair on the aspect of the show being 3 years late, lets not forget the show was meant to air alot earlier before Bob Iger decided to bump the breaks and put a 2 show per year rule. Its like Ironheart, the show was meant to air in 2023, but now its coming in 2025 due to the 2 years annually rule.
I predict that Aubrey Plaza's character gonna be the standout and then they see an opportunity to do another show for her. A spin off of a spin off of a spin off 😆
From what I understand, this IS the plan for Marvel shows on Disney+, to do "stand alone" genre/niche programs with side characters that don't have universe shaking consequences. I'm intrigued enough to check it out.
I'm a pretty tough critique, but I really like this. Can't wait. Btw, talking about a niche project, couldn't you say the same thing about Wanda Vision?
Yes and I did when it came out. But that was the first tv show (meant to be the 2nd) and it came out following the peak of the MCU’s success 2019. When they had the most audience trust they took a risk and went niche. It came out right before Falcon and the winter soldier as conceptually safe project. BUT 2024 Is not following 2019. They’re 4 years into the post-infinity saga era and there’s still lack of clarity and focus. We don’t know who the avengers are. Niche rabbit trailer projects are the opposite of what they need right now.
@@SeanChandlerTalksAbout you did say in your wandavision trailer reaction that you were worried that it will hurt MCU since it's niche compared to falcon and the winter soldier.
Would you not also say that Daredevil: Born Again is niche, considering that it is targeting a more mature, older audience and is following up another series that not all of the MCU audience has watched? This seems to be the route they’re taking now with TV Shows, and they’re making the Movies for a mass audience.
@@Destiny-ze2gz That’s not true. He gave a positive review to Beverly Hills Cop & A Quiet Place: Day One. Plus he’s given positive reviews to a lot of 2024 movies. He’s not thrilled about this show. But saying “he doesn’t like anything really” isn’t fair. He’s allowed not to like everything
This is the one thing that still had me a little hesitant. I loved Hahn’s take on Agatha and anticipating the show, this trailer looks great too. But feel like random song breaks will hurt this but will see. Hopefully it’s a natural flow for the music they do
I am a big Marvel fan, used to watch everything they released. That being said, judging by the trailer if I'm in the mood for something spooky this fall, I'd prefer to watch Werewolf by Night again and probably won't be checking this one out.
Don’t really see the point of doing this but wandavision is my favourite mcu show so I can’t help being excited about returning to this corner of the mcu, I really hope this show can bring back the early days of Disney plus mcu
@@stevenmcburney8167 Although I only think wandavision has been the only really good show, I feel like the first year had a spark. Sure the shows winded up being disappointing but there was a excitement that made the shows feel must watch
@@stevenmcburney8167 Although I think wandavision is the only actually good show the first year of Disney plus had a spark, sure the shows themself winded up being disappointing but there was an excitement that made the shows feel must watch and I kinda miss that
I love agatha and Kathryn Hahn but tbh the main reason I'm watching it is the hope of wanda showing up in any way. I did notice a couple of characters and shots from wandavision which is cool but yeah I'm watching it for Wanda and i assume that body is hers 🤞🤞
I think this will lead to Wanda coming back and linking in the mutiverse to tie into the upcoming Avenger's movies! People being short-sighted by a teaser trailer, which isn't supposed to explain the story.
@@lurkzie Now you are changing the goalpost, OP asked who asked for it, not about who ask for its quality, and Black Widow were not a bad movie, sure its was not a master piece, but it wasn't bad. And to Sean's point about releasing it now, well Marvel has said they wanted to present all the Midnight Sons as either Halloween specials or series, so now it's Agatha's turn, as mentioned without her and Caretaker, there is no Midnight Sons.
Here's the thing, niche projects are good, specially now, not everything needs a bridge to a wider story and different short disconected stories can coexist with the big ones without having to jingle keys to that audience
Its in plan, Marvel is building to a future Midnight Sons movie. And has said they would present the characters in Halloween specials (like Werewolf by Night), or as series (like Moon Knight). Agatha is a main character of the Sons, so of cause she needed to be presented in this manner. And then you state its only for a select audience, yes and so is Thor, Guardians of the Galaxy or Punisher. Comic book fans that love the occult and Midnight Sons, look forward to this.
@@joshhickeysmoviereviews i want the original moon knight that isn’t a multiple personality disorder person and that dealt with wayyyyy less Egyptian nonsense.
@@jeffcunningham0389 Again....in the comics he did have multiple personalities. There's a famous panel where he's messing with Spider-Man by switching his personalties to confuse/irk him
@@joshhickeysmoviereviews again he didn’t get that until later in the comics. Originally he was like a secret agent that have different identities not personalities
I think the body founding the beginning is Wanda, based on the hands. Which means Wanda’s death is what allows Agatha to be freed. I’d also say that Agatha has a small but very important role in Marvel comics, particularly in her interactions with Wanda, who is an incredibly powerful character who at one point kills all mutants. So while this might be niche to MCU iron man/captain America fans, if it helps create a connection tithe X-Men we will all be better off because of it.
To be honest this is the kind of thing I wish marvel television was for. Make the movies for a wider audience, experiment with new and different things with shows and special presentations on Disney+. If they feel the need to create content then make a variety of different things that people don’t need to watch to understand the next movie but it’s a plus. Just like with the comics, you can read the tie-ins, but it’s not integral for the main thing.
I agree with your reaction 100%. I felt the same thing. It’s marvel so I’ll check it out, but I’m not waiting excitedly for it. Hopefully Deadpool and Wolverine is a hit and the mcu can return to glory because it was a lot of fun.
The way I see it marvel is expanding beyond just being team up or redeeming stories, this feels like a horror and while it might be mediocre but we're all gonna see it just for what it is.
Here’s what Jac Schaeffer, the showrunner, creator, director, writer, and executive producer, of this show’s credits are: The director, writer, and producer of Timer, sci-fi romantic comedy from 2009 The writer of Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, the Olaf short film that played in front of Coco in 2017 Uncredited script work on 2019’s Captain Marvel A writer on 2019’s The Hustle, a female-centered remake of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels with Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson as the leads The writer of two Wandavision episodes, as well as an executive producer on that series Story credit on 2021’s Black Widow Those are her credits. This only reinforces that Disney is looking around at people who don’t have the skill level to be at the top of a movie or TV series, and giving them something tens of millions of dollars to run a project under an IP.
Yes and no, we could mention many cases like this in Marvel, projects that could have been too big for a particular talent, but that worked very well, and other times they didn't
@@elbebinpr Marvel Studios didn’t have showrunners at that point in time. They just had a creator, directors, writers, and executive producers. They got showrunners when restructuring.
@@owenharrison761 Marvel Studios was able to shepherd their talent in great ways during The Infinity Saga. But because they’ve expanded in their output, that system doesn’t work anymore.
I think it’s a hard miss , the title is idiotic and it looks like an average story and they’re trying to just throw quantity at us with a side character getting their own show once again.
Ngl, I’m kinda mixed about the project. Kathryn Hahn is a great actress, no denying. But I feel like they’re just giving random characters shows that lead nowhere and barely have a connection to the overarching narrative.
This trailer looked good, perfect for Halloween season. Still think loki and wanda was the best shows in Disney plus. I know marvel hasn't been that great lately but I'm still a fan and have hope for the future. Looking forward to deadpool & wolverine:)
Something tells me that you’re like all the other film bros that want everything catered to them or to people like them. The MCU is splitting into different categories. Something similar to the comics where each category has its own line of comic storylines. (Cosmic, Supernatural, Avengers, Street, Spider-Man, Young Avengers, Multiverse, and Mutants). Just because something is catered to a small group of people doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be made. I’m excited for this project, my twitter feed of thousands is also excited. I love the magical/supernatural side of the MCU, with it there is so much more to explore. The vigilante(street), the avengers, anything Ironman or captain america, I can’t say I’m excited for that. I’ve seen many projects about them, and I want something new. I want new stories and new characters. Agatha has so much to with the avengers in the comics. Stories that haven’t been told. Stories that should also be told. If you don’t care for it that’s ok. But saying something might be bad because it doesn’t cater to a broad audience is wrong and elitist. Wanda has been brought back from the dead multiple times in the comics, sometimes resurrecting herself. She’s done good, and done bad, and has help the avengers so much on various occasions. Her story isn’t finished, and assuming multiverse of madness is her end is dumb. They did the same with Loki. They didn’t have to show him escape 2012 New York, he could have died and that would have been it. But no. I don’t see anyone else complain about his “resurrection”.
Its not at show that will have the Marvel ball spinning at full speed again. The main character is simply just too small potatoes for that. But that said, the show definetly deserves a chance. Who knows, in the end It actually might just be a good Marvel show, and that is something we the fans and Marvel sorely needs more of these days.
I’ll be honest, the trailer actually looked pretty good, but I genuinely don’t expect anything good from Disney anymore (with the exception of Deadpool & Wolverine). I’ll just have to see when it comes out if it’s actually any good I guess
Definitely just feels like marvel didn't want to do this now, but they've already shot it so they might as well just release it. Who knows though, it may be a big surprise!
I was really looking forward to this after watching WandaVision, but recently, gave up hope due to the abysmal Secret War and Echoe series. However, now that I've seen this trailer, I'm actually really excited - this looks great! I do agree about the sporadic decisions to green light all these spinoffs and this not being the best time, but to me, this particular show is the exception. We didn't need Echo and I have zero desire to watch Ironheart, but I think this is going to make for a fun Halloween season and I think October will be the one month this year that I pay for a Disney+ subscription.
i wish when y’all say a project that niche y’all would say what y’all actually mean and y’all mean a project that don’t cater towards straight white men. y’all tip toe too much in this rage bait political climate and y’all just end up looking like you’re scared to say what y’all want to say. which is weird regardless but i digress. it looks fun and it’s coming at the perfect time which is spooky season! hope it’s great and does well!
Oh no! Not everything is the same Marvel is dead!!!. During Phases 2 and 3 one of the biggest complaints of the MCU was that all the projects felt similar in tone. This is obviously incorrect seeing as we had wartime period pieces and political thrillers with Captain America, space comedies with the Guardians of the Galaxy, heist films with Ant-Man etc. but when they focus more on diversifying the projects more with tones and styles people say that they have lost what made Marvel good and it should all feel like the old stuff. WandaVision was a sitcom homage which is not something all Marvel audiences would care about but it is always cited along with Loki as the good D+ Marvel show. Agatha All Along is probably going to have a similar tone to Wednesday which was huge they will have an audience even if it's not all Marvel fans.
