When your archer civ, you need a university because it has ballistics which is necessary. Also always get thumb ring at the range. Always upgrade to the next ages unit and blacksmith upgrades because they're very bad otherwise Last of all when a civ has a cavalry bonus like the cumans speed, it usually also counts towards the cav archers from the range as well.

In options/settings, u can turn off building snap, makes stacking the houses in a row more smooth.

Great video, I laughed when you said Spanish are an archer civ because they are one of only two civs that don't get the crucial crossbow upgrade. Typically you go for attack upgrades on the Archer line before the defence, and the defence upgrades on your heavy cavalry first. However the skirmishers strength is heavy pierce amour so they should prioritise armour against archers. And scout cavalry are used for sniping vills so the forging upgrade is often prioritised.

18:22 Forging does not affect any counters or bonus damages. It will give +1 attack to all melee military units (eg. infantry and cavalry).

And regarding upgrades, 17:50 , you generally want some units before upgrade (no point in spending res on an upgrade which affects units you currently have 0 of) and also simply skip the upgrades for the units you aren't using at all and spend all surplus resources on more units instead.

As for the markets you can’t trade with yourself. Also another tip the further apart the markets are the more the carts generate per trip. Keep up the great vids man!

@@ViralGaming687 I think what makes the AOE family pretty chill is most of the fans are late 20’s and up. Now that idk if it’s fact but I feel like most people playing are here like me for the nostalgia trip. But than suddenly realize the games still as cool as it was when we where younger honestly I’d say better. I lived in the middle of nowhere so playing PVP was almost impossible on dial up internet. Once I moved out I didn’t have space or money for a decent computer nor was age of empires on my mind lol! Hence why I got 3 kids now. But the sheer joy of getting to basically experience getting this game for the first time again is absolutely glorious haha

11:26 "my nations strength is Calvary" Christian Cumans! I struggled constantly with the correct pronunciation myself of Cavalry. Calvary is the hill where Jesus was Crucified. Cavalry are Horse mounted Soldiers. The trick I use is to lead and focus on the first three letters. CAV-alry If you lead with CAL-vary then it's being pronounced wrong. CAV Is short for Cavalry in Mount and blade. As well which is where I learned to pronounce it Originally. Awesome video! Thanks for the tips! I'm loving this game!

I’m super stoked AOE came to console. I started playing AOE with the original in the late 90s. Continued playing for the next decade easily. AOE 3 was the best imo. I just heard it came to console today, currently it is downloading on my Xbox I’ll play tonight. I do have one question, how is playing it with a controller compared to a mouse? I see this game being difficult to select your troops on controller but I could be completely wrong. Thanks for the great reviews of this game. #Subscribed.

Good baseline for villagers. In general you want 60% of your total population to be villagers so that you can afford constant military production. Late game you should aim for 110-120 villagers when you get up around Max population.

I think it is important to get the Loom upgrade from the Town Center for the villagers. This way they wont die to boar that easily anymore, and also be more resistant to enemy attacks.

@@pumpkinpie8235 Hey guys I've been a consistent player of aoe 2 for about 20 years now (yeah old man I know) and just wanted to give some input on loom. While it is a good tech to get, you don't want to go for it too early. Typically you want to have zero idle time on your villager production so if you click Loom, that research time is time not spent producing villagers. You want to click Loom whenever you CAN'T produce villagers. Examples would be if you run out of population space or food and your villager production stops. Really enjoying the vids so far

At beginning when you get 6 villagers, use one vill to kite the boar back to TC and the vills kill the boar without much problem. I do agree to grab loom though, probably most efficient once you have aged up, im no expert mind you...

I desperately need some advice. I have issues trying to control my army. I wish I could select all units excepts the trebuchets. It takes too long to hold left trigger then use up on d pad for melee units. Then left trigger and right for archers. Then left trigger again and down for Calvary. My units will get mixed around the trebuchets and I can’t quickly navigate them in a battle.

Left bumper or left trigger brings up a wheel that'll allow you multiple quick selects there is literally an option that let's you select all ground units besides anything seige and even an option to do the opposite. So bring that wheel up and you'll see the quick selects for the buildings, press Y for the ones for troops if I remember correctly they are at the 2 and 3 o'clock positions

@@davisfamilyshenanigans4807 ah then it wouldn't work I use default. Since you have advanced then you need to manually make control groups. Pros and cons to using advanced, unless you get so efficient with using it then nothing but pros.

Can you explain the difference between the AI's; CD vs HD vs AI?

The basic A.I have a preset coding and will operate and play virtually the same way every time. The HD A.I are adaptive and will learn and change how they play to counter the way you are playing. The CD A.I prioritize building walls and castles a little more so if you want to practice against walls and castles I would put them on. There is some useful stuff here. Pretty much the way I'm starting. I never played this before but I played tons of C&C. The tactics of resource gathering and build priorities translate well. The only thing that drove me a little nuts is you kept saying calvary instead of cavalry. Might be a generational thing. You couldn't escape cowboy movies when I was a kid lol.

If I scouted someone’s base and see houses stacked like that early game I would immediately all in them(most good players would) in feudal just a heads up. 2 houses then other houses as part of wall anything else screams new player.
