I also wanted to comment that it's really fun watching players figure out AoE4. The civs are so different and it seems to invite new and creative ways to play. AoE2 seems kind of solved, so I really enjoy that about AoE4 too. I wish there were a few more civs, but I'm sure there will be with time.

He probably went all in after seeing that the sacred win was coming. He could go to the sacred sites and absolutely destroy them tho

The gong is the default option for the Asian civs like the bell is for the European.

They save time. They play more games and have more chances to climb the ladder... RTS games are about seeing the bigger picture and contracting the perfect strategy. If your strategy fails and your enemy does know that it did, then what's the point of playing 5-10 more minutes if you know that your chance of losing exceeds 80%?

It's the SC2 mentality that these players have because in that game if you screw up your strategy it's pretty much GG after the first attack fails and they quit after 15 or so minutes. Seen plenty of oldschool AOE2 players gut it out and win a match in AOE4 when on the backfoot after the first attack or 2, but those games do turn into a bit of a mess. Give it time and the meta will change to allow players to keep playing and challenge for a win even if they mess up the first attack.

@@shoailwaniya I didn't know that about SC2. The last RTS I really sunk time into was AOE2 back in the day. Granted I wasn't at their level but the matches I remember fondly reflect your statement about it.

He's so fricking behind at that point it's impossible to catch back up even if you can take back a site or two.

Ya, you gotta understand that each site to the Delhi is about 10 vills worth per min. That's an insane boom you will not beat, full stop.

@@HIBoxingLibrary 5 vills, less later on with upgrades. 10 goldminers vastly outpace a Delhi sacred site.

No, sacred site is a 15 minute win, and wasn't started until 8 minutes into game.
