Forest fire should definitely be used tactically instead of just dropping it on whatever wood the villagers are taking. A lot of walling is done to woodlines so opening a gap is probably the best way to use it most of the time.

As a Canadian, I can say that Forest fire is S tier lollll joking aside, might be better used along with a raiding party so you do some damage on villagers and potentially trap them under it

Bear in mind with Forest Fire minor gods with good units/techs have to have a weaker god power to balance it out. Everyone picks Freya for the Valk etc if she had a stronger god power as well why would anyone pick any other God? Kind of like Hephaestus he has a powerful myth unit and good techs so he has a more defensive God power to balance it out

Forest Fire is super dependant on the map as well. This one doesn't have very large treelines, but when you have a map where the opponent only has access to 2 or so in his starting area, then denying them half of that can be pretty impactful. I would also say that Forest Fire on this particular map is best saved for when you want to push in for a raid, as you can open up their base for easy access. They can't prematurely fence off weakspots as adjecent buildings to trees will get destroyed. Suffice to say Forest Fire is pretty equal to Undermine in my opinion, except it has the upside of having slightly more utility on how you apply it and the downside of not being able to target defensive structures directly.

Drongo will realise how strong FF actually is, as soon as he sees it used correctly.

forest fire would be nice to get past the wall by just burning a hole in it. probably better than doing it to just deal damage to some vils

Forest fire has several useful functions but most just use it to inconvenience a couple of villagers. First of all it denies a lot of wood by destroying the trees. Another function is that without those trees, you miss a natural wall so if you want to turtle, you need to make bigger walls to cover the missing forest. Or you can keep the fire for when you want to push and burn the forest to bypass the walls

I think Dwarven armoury upgrades are half price btw, or maybe like 20% off? Either way, theyre cheaper

Actually for the Frost power you can use it to destroy enemy military production while their army is frozen and can't do anything.

Forest Fire is very good when used strategically. Unfortunately most people just use it immediately once they advance.

I think forest fire is good when used twice, as u can destroy 2 wood lines, zoning his Vils to a specific wood line where u can attack him and he has no where to go

Portable rams were insanely strong in original AoM too, they're small and incredibly effective siege units, essentially immune to ranged attacks

I feel like in short games forest fire is underwhelming, but in longer games being able to starve your opponent of wood faster could be good.

Hey Drongo, I love your vids At 16:20, no, you are wrong. There are no diminishing returns. An easy example: going from 0% reduction to 50% means effectively doubling your hp pool, right? The same effect would be achieved by going from 98% to 99% reduction. This is a common pitfall I see so often in so many games by so many players. A more AoM-ish example: A hoplite has 115 hp and 35% hack armor initially. That means he has 115 / (1 - 0.35) = 177 effective hp against hack. Getting a mail upgrade makes that 1 - (1 - 0.35) * 0.9 = 41.5% hack armor. That means he now has 115 / (1 - 0.415) = 197 hack eHP. That's a 11% increase in eHP. Getting another mail upgrade makes that 1 - (1 - 0.415) * 0.9 = 47.3% hack armor. That is 115 / (1 - 0.473) = 218 hack eHP. That's again, a 11% increase in eHP. I hope I explained clearly enough. There are no diminishing returns. Sure, you could make an argument that it is diminshing returns to increase armor COMPARED to getting a hp increase but, in void, you never get diminishing returns from these types of calculations.

I wish AoE4's tech tiles looked like AoMR's, its much more engaging than that aqua and gold crap

I wonder if it is better to save up the forest fire and pop it in the middle of a battle when the opponent cant react as well and it might open a new path for your guys.

DIdn't play aoe in mutliplayer since my childhood. But regarding forest fire. I never saw it as something strong or giving you an instant advantage. What it does is if your starting point (depending on map) has a big forest or a easy wood source, burning it denies not only a easy to defend source of wood, it also denies ressources long term. You will have more wood ultimately, depending on the map its stronger or weaker but yah. Depends on what ya make of it.

The forest fires are obviously weak in maps like this but i can see the damages on heavily forested maps.

its a waste to go shield upgrades when on defence against norse. They dont have access to pierce damage on their units. Just their defensive buildings.

The armour upgrades are still 10% relative strength. If you have 50% hack armour and go up to 55% with an upgrade you still take 10% less damage. And this is true for all armour values, as there is no diminishing returns.

I don't see it being worth past the first tier of upgrades. You really put yourself behind if you're just rushing the upgrades to get 1 dwarf per upgrade past those first 3.
