Every time Quill opens research I lose my mind as he ignores laser tech which would boost his main hero (and the mount units he built) and doesn't grab the extra doctrine to use the second terrain buff he unlocked.

I really like to play on Ravaged worlds (protip, MOST terrain changes from the different planets are really just pre-set slider tweaks under Advanced, but the planets also have SOME unique stuff like more hazards or the biocontagion planet quest). I find it so interesting to settle those hostile worlds where non-hellish sectors are kind of like oasises in the desolate arid and volcanic lands, and it makes finding a lush sector amazing like a garden of eden. Frankly i also prefer to play with Settlements on None, because i hate me or the AI getting "free" cities. Also, the zoom-out strategic overlay "enemy" layer is extremely useful to make sure roaming armies stay at bay.

Never played any AoW games before, but I decided to get this one. Oh man Im hooked, what a great mix of civ and xcom ✌️

The combat looks similar to Heroes of Might and Magic.

It is. The best comparison of AoW is to what inspired it directly: HOMM. It's more complex, especially in regards to the heroes, though. If you liked HOMM, you may very well like this, too.

BLoody hell again with the auto resolve? When is quill gonna learn the fucking lesson that you NEVER auto resolve in strat games. Trading an easy win with skillfull play with a vet unit loss due to a dice roll. You never dice roll you never dice roll you NEVER DICE ROLL. Ugh.

Yeah, I'm surprised im not seeing that parallel mentioned. It definitely mixes AoW 3 and Endless legend, but perhaps not as complex as either in each respective element.

It seems to have used a number of ideas from endless, aow, civ, and homm. It all plays well, I am concerned about balance.

why would it take longer to boil water because you are in north america?

There are only three minor differences between Civ's golden age and the happyness procs in this game. The main one is that the pools are per colony/city. The pools are also far smaller such that you can proc them every 5 or 6 turns fairly easily and the rewards are specific to the colony you get it at and are only an extra turn of production/energy/science.

If you get all 3 happy buildings and the Community Wellness Center you can get it to proc every 2 turns. The Community wellness center also increases it to 250%.
