Calming aggressive dog behaviour using the click and treat method can be an excellent way forward with the right dog and owner combination.
This short video shows an initial clip of my first encounter with this beautiful German Shepherd and her clearly anxious behaviour that involved bites as I moved into her space shortly afterwards. She was muzzled and so she could do no harm in that respect.
The rest of the video shows her in a significantly calmer state after 5 weeks of hard work by her owners.
Work is still required with her interactions when on the road when she sees other dogs, but this too will come in time as a number of calm and controlled situations are provided to her to mix with other dogs of varying sizes.
As with many behaviours we are looking to address, a thorough walk through of calming measures have been set up in the home as well as out, along with coming back to basics in terms of good manners and control. Finding the middle line and a sense of balance on these cases is essential.
