There’s so many dogs like this in the world. People who tell you all or even “most” dogs can be trained is a liar. A lot of shelters are packed with dogs like this. Yet rescues still try to get them out so they lie and then the family has to go through so much shit and it isn’t worth it. People need to stop with the BS and get some emotional boundaries
@TheBaumcm
@TheBaumcm Год назад
@@xobelladonna2443this isn’t true at all as most dogs will behave like this when stressed or anxious. In a shelter, they have no reason to be trustful of humans on top of the stress and anxiety of close proximity. Humans really suck at reading a dog’s body language, which tells you the difference between fearful/anxious reactive and aggressive, as well as when they are close to their limit. Also, you’d have to be aware that a shelter dog probably hasn’t been socialized or worked with because of the volume, unless a rescue.

As someone who has taken care of elderly dogs (who passed away last year) I want to thank you for not turning away an elderly dog. My sisters dog lost an ear to a stray dog, went blind due to age and had dementia. @Cozycountry1

You all took great care over an elderly girl and loving people like you and your sister are wonderful. Dementia is such a cruel disease and sadly aggression can be part of the illness and it must be like a confusing nightmare for human or animal to be suffering with it, so they lash out in fear. Poor Cliquo obviously has ptsd from her attack and the trauma of extensive vetinary care. Terror and confusion sums it up perfectly for both your sister's dog and this sweetheart. Gotta leave the question of the safety of sedation to the experts, I think. I imagine vets have a lot of experience losing or almost losing elderly dogs who have to be anesthetized for procedures, so they're in the right place to make the call as to whether sedation is more dangerous than the stress and physical exhaustion of a fully awake grooming. I have a soft spot for elderly animals as I own a 16 year old Norwegian Forest Cat who is 100% dependent on me for all his needs. Thank You Vanessa for being so patient and good at your job! ♥🐶👍

Nothing worse than a scared dog like that. At 14 I'm curious if she was going blind and losing her hearing too. She's had a traumatic experience which is a shame. Your reflexes serve you well on an animal like this. It sounds like her current owner gives her lots of love.

I kind of love her for being so spicy even when medicated. She must be one tough old gal! I wouldnt wanna mess with her when shes sober. Her owner must feel well protected with her around.

I fully admire your patience & skill with dogs like Clicquot, but by posting these vids, you’ll inevitably become the go-to groomer for all such clients! Whilst that’s certainly quite an honourable reputation, I worry it will make for very stress-filled days for you.

As a nurse, my wife calls this "performance punishment" ---- because of her excellent medical skills, and her diplomacy and empathy, she would often be assigned to the most difficult patients (both medically and psychologically), and/or those with the most difficult families, those who gave other nurses a particularly hard time. Even more so nowadays, ever since she switched from critical care to hospice nursing. If a patient and their family is coping poorly with impending death, the administrators will give the case to my wife. As a retired electronics-repair technician, I've experienced similar ---- the tech, and the shop, who gains a reputation for being able to resurrect 40 to 60 year old equipment with multiple faults, or a history of botched repairs by others, gets all the most difficult repairs, and the most difficult, miracle-demanding clients (who are often cheapskates as well, expecting miracles *for free* 😖).

@@goodun2974 Those of us who excel in our particular fields all experience this. Hence the reason for my comment. I can just see it coming. But I suppose there’s a certain pride in it. It’s better than having the opposite reputation tho, right?! “Performances Punishment” is a gr8 descriptor. Kudos to you & your wife. 😊

I had a high-strung, fearful, aggressive poodle-mix mutt I adopted who attacked like that when being groomed. I broke him of the habit and changed his temperament by using a heavy leather glove and letting him bite it, giving positive praise reinforcement when he calmed down. It didn’t take very long for him to realize the snarling and biting wasn’t going to work anymore with me and being a chill doggo was more fun. It didn’t make him love being groomed but he tolerated it.

Poor Cleko (?sp) , I can't imagine how miserable it must be to live life under that kind of stress and anxiety. She seems like she would be a sweet girl for Maom and Daddy though and I wish her continued happiness.

I love how you deal with these amazing creatures. I have learned tons from you, including knowing I wouldn't be able to deal with them at all. I do not think the phrase "I am a trained professional" really describes what you are kiddo! I actually love how you love all the pets, understand them, deal with them; and, I get your humour. Thank you.

I’ve only had rescue animals as an adult. You were so good to this doggie. You did an outstanding job on her. I think some of my dogs had PTSD. I’m sure this little beauty did. Thank you for taking on a difficult dog like this one. Her fur must have felt like a straight jacket and painful. She looked happy at the end. May you all please take care and stay safe. Louisa. 👏👏👏❤❤❤🤩🤩🤩
