Time never stops moving forward and aging is an absolute, but growing old doesn't mean the person you were when you were young is no longer there 🥹 🎶 Original score by the oldest McFarland brother, Mitch McFarland 🎶 #shortfilm #shorts
Life really does pass you by if you don’t stop to enjoy it. It’s a culture of working yourself to death just to survive now for a lot of people. I’m 41 have had a lot of fun in my life and like Kurt cobain said “now I’m bored and old”.
lol you’re not 72, because every 70+ year old I’ve met feels much different than they did at 30. Also your pfp 😑. You just copied someone else’s comment (their comment is above yours). Poser
Dude this made me cry. I lot my grandpa early this year and I wish I spent more time with him, he also said the same thing on his last birthday. Please remember to spend time with your grandparents because you never know how much time you have left with them
@@grundlefairy My life has been amazing, thank you. Should be a movie. Now it is just starting over again because I am moving to the Philippines, where there are over 7,600 Islands all prettier than those in Hawaii (where I lived a while) and I will soon be SCUBA diving with whale sharks! 🤘😎

Gosh. My dad's been gone since 2016. Had just made it to 60. This got me in my feels. 🥹 May you live long and continue to make many memories with your precious family. Thank you for always making us laugh 💐
I lost my mom when i was 26, she is gone since 2013 now, short period before her 61st birthday she passed away. My Dad was always alone since then, he followed her almost to the day 10 years later last year. He died April 30th 2023, my Mom May 7th 2013. I miss both so badly, but both kept their inner child alive.
My grandad talks about how it feels like he’s not old and even gets annoyed at other old people for being slow until he sees himself in the mirror. This really put it into a great perspective. Well done.
A 70year old friend of mine said at 30 you kind of stop feeling you are aging and every morning in front of the mirror, you are reminded of how the time has passed.
Even when I was 27 years old people thought I was 21, 22. Once I turned 30 I really started seeing my appearance catching up with my age, but from the inside I haven't aged a day. Sometimes I realize I can recall memories of my younger years better than I can the last week
We literally should live to at least 120 year, but because of the type of food, water, air and other things I won't mention, if we see 80 we're considered blessed
I wish humans didn't have to go through the cycle of life and just stopped aging at one point. I mean aging is meant to be a deterioration of your bodily features. Maybe there will be a future someday where humans solve that problem? Either way, I wish you long life and prosperity.
The reflections, the older man hand picking up the quarter, the open sign hiding his face and hinting at a white beard, and then the camera before she takes the photo. Holy crap this was well done.
Details.. when he picked up the coin his hand was the old mans.. when walking into the diner, relfection was the old man. This was deep and real. Thank you so much.
This was my nan, never wanted to be a bother to anyone, very self managed in every way. Lived in her own home that granddad and her bought till she was 101, lived with my dad till she was 103, never asked for help, went to a nursing home, even on her 106th birthday she laughed and joked that she's 21 again. She made it to 106 and 3 months, an absolute trooper of a woman. Miss you nan❤
They do another skit where his daughter is pregnant sitting at a bus stop. He forgets that it’s his daughter and it shows her talking to him like they’ve never met before.
@@UnanimousDelivers I believe using the word “deep” in this context is purely subjective. You could use that word in a different situation and someone else would disagree with your choice of words.
@@Text-SpeechStories Idk, but that kinda stuff is what pedos say: "Oh, we are just kids trapped in an old person's body." Like you are old, be old. How can you feel 20 when you are 70 LMAO.
So beautiful! You just proved that you can make us cry two different ways. I can from laughing and now I cried because of how beautiful and true this is!
This truly got me, aging like this...I´m 12 and still feel like I was 5. I can still remember those toddler friends I hung out with. Time does fly by real quick. Thank you for this.
Yeah even now I'm in my early 20s and I wish I could play with high schoolers and have fun again, but when I look in the mirror I'm an adult who has lived experience that changes how I am allowed to think, nothing is simple anymore. Thank you for sharing your story, little one.
@@Fahad-21 Yeah 26 here it doesnt get any better you realize that even hanging out with younger adults 18,19,20. I'd rather be hanging out with older folks 30, 40 plus folks, actually relate more to be honest. and even more relatable if you have kids.
Topnotch editing right there! It's obvious on second watch, but it means it worked subliminally 😮 awesome! And don't get me started on the feels 😊😢😅 everyone can relate!
my dad said he knew he was old when he fell while working and people said "are you ok" , " let me help you up". He said that was the first time he fell and people didn't laugh or call him a " dumbass" jokingly.
Seeing white hairs on your own head is a major sign that your time is running out and that you need to find your creator before the day you can’t return for a second chance
bro, It just hit me in the feels... I lost my grandmother 1 month and 12 days ago. Everyone in the neighborhood loved her, she was the "friendly" neighbor for everyone. This video just brought back so many memories with her. Thank you.
Never give up sir!!!! I always tell this to my uncle, never think stuff like “maybe in my next life” or stuff like that, you want it!? You get it!!! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻never give up.
Take care of yourself and life will reward. My dad is in his 60s and still works his excavating job shoveling with my brother and I, hammering cement, and picking up logs and brick. Usually he’s in the excavator but when he hops down to help with the hand work you’d think him more fit than most 20-30 yr olds. It’s a shame people think after 30 or so they just become unable to do physical activity and can’t stay fit for much longer. Truth is, human bodies are very adaptable even in older age.
My dad always said "my body is getting old, but in my mind, I'm still 25." He passed January 30, 2020. He developed Lewy Body dementia and it ravaged him quickly. He was very intelligent, so we noticed things quickly were going wrong. He hated what was happening to him. He was the smartest and strongest man I have ever known, and that disease stole who he was from him. When he passed, he had aged 30 years. He deserved to grow to be an old man. He loved life, and his passing left an enormous hole in our family that has still not been filled. I miss him so much.
I'm almost 77 and don't feel old, but my mirror has a problem! 😂 I'm blessed with good health and still have a spring in my step and don't were make-up, only a smile on my face. 😉 Peace and blessings to all ❤
My dad passed away last year at 70. He always said he felt like he was still in his 20s-30s in his mind and would be shocked he wasnt young anymore when something held him back. I miss him every single day. Im so lucky to have had such and amazing father.
My dad died a year ago at age 92. He said he still felt like 18. He never looked old, he was very fit and could still run and do chin-ups in his 80s. I can't say he was a great dad, he was mean and cruel, even so, I still miss him.
@crustydownunder I understand that. My mom was a terror. She died when I was 21 and I still grieved her terribly. My dad was by no means fit towards the end of his life, his health failed over his last decade of life. It frustrated him greatly especially as it became harder for him to walk without pain. He passed so peacefully in his sleep. Just went to take a nap one day and didn't wake up. May we all be so blessed to go that way. 🙏
I work at a retirement facility and some of the things these people do is crazy. There's one resident that I didn't even realize was a resident, I thought he was an employee! He not only was always in the fitness center working out, but he was constantly walking around in the building or outside, I'd see him walking in town, he worked as a dish washer in a nearby restaurant. He looks like he's in his late 50s, MAYBE early 60s. Turns out. He's 80!
I'm 67 and in my head I'm the same as I was thirty years ago although my back hurts more. The other day for the first time ever a guy offered me his seat on the tram. I was both delighted and devastated in equal measure.
One of the best things I ever watched. Very well done. I am 67 this year and I see myself as a 25 or 30 years old at most, but the freaken body and face belong to a stranger. Life is really short. When we are young we're so happy and think that everything is still ahead, and at some point in life we realize that everything is already behind. Thank you for your vid

When my mom turned 82, I asked her if she felt 82. She said that if she wasn't in so much pain, she'd feel young again. She died a year later. This video is amazing. Well done, my friend.
That’s the thing about getting old. People start to see you in a way you don’t see yourself. It’s extremely alienating. No one thinks it’ll happen to them, but it always does.
Jesus that was deep bro. You definitely right man... I remember when I was 20 feels like couple weeks ago.. now next month I'm turning 32 I'm like wtf happened.... Jesus.... Life is wild
My mom's been talking about it happening to her at work. I had to do a double take, but she's a few years from retirement. I have to look at old photos of her when I was a kid to see how she's aged.
It is a privilege to grow old. My grandfather died before I was born at 47 years of age. I also worked in aged care. Many say in their mind they are young, its just their body has aged. Its sad but everyone time comes to an end.
@@Brodison5684 ..pardon? People with dementia go back through the years. One minute they think they are a mother then the next a school girl. They've still lived long lives mostly. One woman was in a constant state of happiness. She was just always happy. Dementia is sad but it doesn't need to be scary.
I started crying at this. I'm only 56 but I do feel like this everytime I look in the mirror and everytime I go out for anything. People are so polite to you but they have no idea how that makes a person feel!!!
I watched this like a week ago, came back to send it to a friend and STILL ENDED UP IN TEARS AGAIN. i knew what was coming and it still got me. This is wonderfully made.
THE MIRROR REFLECTIONS WERE SUCH A GREAT TOUCH 😭😭 Edit: Also if you look closely, in every shot which isn't showing his face, is him shown as in his older self. Such as hands, body, shadow, picture.
@@alonelymouse5293nah this is something we think about all the time as we get older and then one day it just hits you like a cannon ball. Especially if you haven't done much with your life or have worked your ass off most of it without stopping to spend enough time with your loved ones ...

Around 2012 or so, my great-grandfather was in the hospital for something that I don't quite remember. I think pneumonia, but not sure, I was like 10 at the time. What I do remember though, is that he was put with the elderly people, and his reaction to that was "look where they put me, between all the old people". He was most likely the oldest in the entire hospital wing lol, at a nice 97 years of age! He definitely felt younger than he was. Sadly, he didn't live too long after that, he died maybe a year later, max.
Time goes by a lot faster than we think. I lost 3 grandparents in a year, and each funeral was the last time I saw the next one. Time is precious, enjoy every moment you can get
Im 22, and already feel exhausted. I dont understand how some have made it to 80 physically. Especially working in the trades. Congrats on 84, really a miracle every day any of us are here
I just lost my grandma a couple of weeks ago to dementia. She always got confused and talked about how she was a teenager and needed to get across the river so she could go into town and have some fun. She wasn’t really all there anymore but it was still a shock to lose someone so close and important to me. This video is beautiful and really touched me. Thank you, have a blessed day.
She was thinking about her past and probably wanted to go back too. Insit with someone who has dementia and had a aunt who had it when inwas a kid. Neither one of them does that. It just makes me thinknshebwas closer to death than you realize when shebwas doing that. Old people tends to do that around that time. Or at least that is my experience. We had to take care of several older people in the family and that part seems to be very common.
I am working at a retirementhome as a nurse on a station with people who all have dementia and it seems like this is what they go through all the time... some of them being in their 90's saying "tomorrow i will visit my parents" and everytime i hear that i can't let them face reality and lie because it would be horrible to say "they are dead and you are 94 years old" or even ask them how old they think they are... sometimes one of them who can not stand up anymore says they want to go home just for me to reply with something like "i am sorry you are at the hospital and you can not stand up at the moment. We need to take care of you the next days" or something like that. Sometimes a nurse has to be very very creative the way they talk with elderly people and even more with from dementia suffering people. It can be hard to keep an illusion alive just so people do not have a worse time.
That hit...THAT REALLY REALLY HIT....HOME. I can truly relate to this perspective. If you pay close attention, you will see images of his father in the background of each vignette. This short was masterfully crafted and evoked a lot of reflection. Well done. Well done, indeed.
@@Brauljo I like the phonetic and IPA foreign language trick. Nice. To answer though - it means to contemplate your future, by considering heavy questions like where you will most likely die, at what age, and what things will be like then. Perhaps one makes it to 90. what is like life or you then, how many of your friends are also still alive. Are you lonely? Work backwards, 80, 70, 60, etc. It is a thought experiment, and by modelling this, what changes would one make in their life given the odds of it happening?
RIP Dad. My best friend and confidant. Oh how you are missed and loved. If only I could have you back even for just a short time. I would love to show you smart phones and self driving cars. I remember rolling my eyes when you told me these things should be invented. Thank you to the producer of this video. We Americans should be ashamed at how horribly we treat our grandparents/elders. 😢❤
Mine passed at 47, me being 13 at the time, now 14. That was september 7th 2023. Actually i dont know the full date. Or why, or how... i'm underinformed.. (if thats even a word)
My dad got cancer past year, he recovered and looks so much the same as this man, it really made me tear up he is still with us. Thank you for your video ❤
Act fast. Tell them to stop eating sugar and carbs. They're in drinks and food. Sugar feeds cancer cells. They love it. End cancer naturally by eating healthy.
This couldn't be more true, im 72 and i dont even realize how fast time is going. I am glad to be supported and i make sure to not miss a single moment with my grandkids. Always appreciate the time you have no matter what age, every second counts.
I just turned 32 and I still feel like a teenager even though I am not the same age my mother was when she had me (youngest of 5 kids). The new perspective is crazy. The age I am now, is the age my HS teachers were when they taught me, many of my old friends now how children...like how has all of this happened so fast!
We only start getting old at 30, so you're not any older than you were 10 years ago. That can be sooner or later though, based on how healthy you are. If you wanna stay young for longer, be healthy.
I feel ya, I turned 30 last November and honestly I still feel like I left high school a few months ago. I don’t feel like I’ve aged, more important my body doesn’t feel like it’s breaking down either. It actually feels like the opposite. Lately it’s been unreal, like I’ve been able to actually spread my wings and follow the path I’ve always wanted to. I’m just waiting on my background check to go thru and I’ll be doing what I’ve always felt like I should be.
My amazing Mum told me a couple years before she she passed away at the age of 90 , that she still felt the same as she did when she was 16, it was just her body letting her down. I'm 61 and I can relate perfectly. inside. I'm still a teenager, just my body is getting older.
Same . My dad passed away at 63, 14 months ago, way to early. Brain cancer is aggressive and fast. I agree with all you said. Best wishes for you and your family! Cheers!
Sorry for your loss I don't know my dad because of grandfather but my real mum died when I was 5 in 77 & my step mum died on my birthday in 99 spend all the time you can with your parents as 1 day they may not be there RIP Mum love & miss you more every day xxxxx.
Sorry for your loss! 🍀 I hope y'all find the strength for these hard times. It's also the same for me. Mine passed away at age 63 unexpectedly due to cardiac arrest after a successful brain tumor surgery. It happened 15 years ago but he's still sorely missed to this day.
Lost my mom last year at 85. Just today I looked in the mirror and was reminded I'm not 20 years old any more. So this just hit pretty damn deep on me. I'm not crying, you're crying.
Damn, you lucky though. You can have mom until she at 85. I was 19 when i lost my mom, she was at 55. edit: She got cancer at 50 and i was 14. I wish someone told me that someone who got cancer don't live longer than 5 years. I was concern about this while she got only one year left at my 18. I know there's nothing i can do. In her last 3 months, she spend day by day really suffer from bladder cancer. I accompany him in hospital everyday until that day come, when she never reply to my voice again..
