Grace, with all due respect, it's not change in the force that Ahsoka said that everyone can feel the force. It was always like that. Yoda said it in Episode V... They added midichlorians to the mix in Ep 1 to somehow specifically highlight that Anakin is special and the Chosen One..

I’m fairly confident Thrawn starting the First Order isn’t what they’re going for. The First Order is a different faction that splinters out of the Imperial remnant. We saw that setup in the council in Mando season three episode seven. One faction is awaiting Thrawn’s return, another, represented by Brendal Hux (Domhnall Gleeson’s characters dad) is the part that will disappear into the Unknown Regions and become aligned with Snoke.

Space Opera style pseudo-politics is an underling theme of everything in Star Wars between The Phantom Menace and the Mandalorian/Ahsoka era (chronologically I mean). I loved your point about the Thrawn/Ezra being hidden. I think there is always some weird thing that holds Disney+ shows down. If they had Ezra/Thrawn in an Enemy Mine scenario where they need each other to survive whatever crazy place they are in, it could bring the viewer into the storyline, introduce characters that might be new to them, and give long time fans some character development. Now you have an A Plot and B Plot which holds the viewers interest. I fear that they will save them for episode 7 and we will barely get anything out of this show except just some various adventures and fights. Sometimes I fear that modern media is losing the idea of 'long lasting' content that sticks with you. Ezra and Thrawn's scenes have a lot of emotional payoff potential.

I am so glad to see the Midichlorian thing get retconned back to what the Force originally was. In the original Star Wars in '77, The Force was this mystical thing that did take focus and practice to achieve. It was the sequels that retconned that to be Midichlorians. I think they were afraid the Force was seeming to "woo-woo", when it really was originally like Shaolin practice, or something.
@Ruylopez778
@Ruylopez778 Год назад
Nope. Filoni hasn't 'retconned' anything. I mean Mando even had a whole storyline about taking Grogu's blood, remember? What LUCAS has said about the Force in 1982: “Everybody can do it [use the Force]. It's just the Jedi who take the time to do it. Like yoga. Also like karate.” In 1977: “The Force is really a way of seeing; it's a way of being with life. It really has nothing to do with weapons. The Force gives you the power to have extra-sensory perception and to be able to see things and hear things, read minds and levitate things. It is said that certain creatures are born with a higher awareness of the Force than humans. Their brains are different. The Force is a perception of the reality that exists around us. You have to come to learn it. It's not something you just get. It takes many, many years…Anyone who studied and worked hard could learn it. But you would have to do it on your own.” source: Star Wars website, Jun 24, 2013 "So what the heck are midi-chlorians?" by JW Rinzler Midi-chlorians don’t change how the Force works or who can use it. Some people have more latent ability than others, and that can be measured by their midi-chlorian count. That was a necessary way to explain to new viewers in TPM how some people have more power than others, and why Qui-Gon was determined to take a slave boy, when there are many younglings at the Jedi Temple. It was implied in the OT that some element of Force ability was genetic, but it was also shown in ESB that it’s **mindset** that allows you to use the Force.

And trying to turn a Black and White pulp story into a meditation on morality or culture is like trying to create a main course from ice-cream. Everyone is going to be dissatisfied with the result.

In Star Wars Rebels, season 3 “Trials of the Darksaber” Kanan trains Sabine in lightsaber combat to use the Darksaber and he makes a great statement about the force It was something along the lines of “anyone can use the force, you just have to open up to it first. But Sabine is so closed off from it” I think that’s a great point that they should reiterate to the more general audience that’s watching Ahsoka and (as a Star Wars fan myself) it bothers me how vague the writers are with explaining the force to general audiences

The natural talent Ahsoka speaks of is the mediclorian variable. What this show is doing is likening force sensitivity to any sport or art in which some people have genetic capabilities or other factors outside of their control that make them more likely to pursue and rise to high levels of that sport/art, but ultimately if you don’t have the dedication to consistently practice you’re not going to be the best. There are genetic/circumstantial outliers and there are outliers in terms of commitment and that very very small overlap is what makes Olympic gold medalists or successful artists as they are. I appreciate this messaging over the one in the sequel trilogy because it doesn’t ignore the importance of lineage but it also makes it apparent that that’s only one factor and people outside of the Skywalkers can rise to a level of importance and impact

Or, they stay in the new galaxy and we will have a parallel Star Wars story being told. But at some point I think they would cross back over.

Sometimes I question if we watched the same shows and/or movies and your commentary for this episode has me questioning it again. Firstly, the hyperdrive wasn’t “built illegally” but was refurbished, meaning they ripped it out of the wreckage of an Imperial Super Star Destroyer (SSD). Throughout the movies, games, and TV shows one thing has been made abundantly clear, new deposits of resources are scarce and the entire galaxy is reliant on salvaging, refurbishing, recycling, and repurposing. This hyperdrive, to the untrained eye, just looks like any other piece of scrap. Hera, knowing what ships are in production due to being a general in the New Republic, knows that hyperdrive is too big for anything they have ordered. Regular New Republic officials aren’t going to have that knowledge. Secondly is that you’re wildly speculating about Thrawn. He is not bringing in the First Order, he is the end of the Empire. He does not destroy the New Republic, that happens in TFA. The Heir to the Empire movie, and culmination of the Filoniverse shows, is going to take place a good 23-24 years before TFA. It’s during that time between the war with Thrawn’s Empire remnants and TFA that the the First Order rises.

04:27 Grace, that’s Star Wars! SW in the 90s and 2000s never had a giant audience. Books, Clone Wars, comics, toys, games - it was always a niche audience, but super dedicated. Disney tried to make it into a giant. And now it’s back to it’s core audience, minus the piepem Kathleen really chased away completely. So I’m a way, all these lower numbers are normal for the brand
@jamesbrigham1299
@jamesbrigham1299 Год назад
I respectfully disagree. The audience was built on the back of the EU. The Expanded Universe. It brought the books, and games that expanded the characters. It was the EU, that kept SW alive until the Prequels were made. Without it, there may have been no more SW movies. The clone Wars and some of the newer comics are just that new. But the harder core fanbase got that way, because the stories and games (KOTOR for example) were so good at both character and world building. Have you ever wondered why there was a backlash about de-caononizing the EU? SW core audience is EU based. Disney went after a new audience and with that, probably lost billions in merchandise sells. They missed out on utilizing stories already written. They just had to do the "Lord of the Rings" treatment,instead they tried to be smarter than everyone. The sequels should have been, "Legacy of the Force" novelization. It featured quite a few, the "Force is Female" characters.

If you've seen Mando Season 2, then you know about the Ahsoka episode in that show. This continues after those events and is supposedly at the same time as S3 of Mando. There is an opening crawl in the first episode. But we see Mon Mothma briefly in E3 (as part of the New Republic) - so this is after she has lead the rebellion to victory over the Empire in ROTJ, and around the same time as Mando S3 events on Coruscant. Does that make sense? They basically took the RO/Andor actress and placed her in the Mando timeline. It's way before TFA, just like Mando. I don't know why people want to lock everything down into being The First Order when that is years away.

Also in Star Wars Clone Wars, it was said numerous times that the force resides in all living things, but only the force-sensitive children had access to it. Here they are exploring a way for someone who doesn't have abilities or feel to the force that with enough training and teaching could maybe gain access to the force, I don't know we will see, but she still won't be great, cause as Ahsoka said you need to have the talent for it to be great.

Everyone being connected to the Force is straight out of the Yoda > Qui Gonn lineage of Jedi doctrine, plus cleverly referencing Rogue One. I was half expecting Sabine to try the "I am one with the Force, and the Force is with me" mantra, though it would clearly have been too much on the nose. As to Sabine's first training, it was in Rebels -- though it was presented as lessons in how to use the Darksaber, it was actually lessons in how to use the Force. Otherwise she's very much out of practice, which is also directly referenced. Anakin communicated with beasts and monsters in both AOTC and Clone Wars.

The force is made up of both The Living Force and The Cosmic Force. The Living force is where the force resides in all living things and the Cosmic Force is what calls to you both within you and beyond you. Allowing you to become a force ghost and become more intuitive with your surroundings. The Living Force makes up all of creation and limited to a whimpering fire. There is no calling to it. Technically, everyone is made up of the force but doesn't mean everyone can use it. The Cosmic Force only exists for the select few. (Btw Midichlorians are microscopic bacteria that are drawn to the force like bees to honey, they aren't the force itself) When Ahsoka says that in the episode I don't think she means everyone can use the force but the force lives and exists in all of us. I wouldn't be surprised if Sabine had dormant force abilities unknowing to her that will be discovered by the end of the show or in the future kinda like how Luke didn't know he had the force until he was taught by Obi Wan in ep 4.

I think this show will end up being more layered and not simply bringing back a "good guy" and bringing back a "bad guy". I'm convinced that Thrawn has convinced Ezra that other galaxies pose the real threat to their existence and the new dilemma will be Ezra convincing Ahsoka, Sabine, and especially Herra that they all need to come together. And the season will end with us getting a glimpse of the threat that looms in this different galaxy.

Outsiders who watch Mando and nothing else would be confused by the plot. The mentioning of characters that were not introduced elsewhere in the SW universe doesn't help either. I love the normal drop of 9pm as that 3am time was stupid. I always had to wait until Wed evenings and avoid spoilers. Now I can actually watch it at night without worry.
