In this exclusive behind the scenes look at 'Ahsoka,' Hayden Christensen and Rosario Dawson discuss Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka's emotional reunion. New episodes of 'Ahsoka' stream Tuesday nights on Disney+.
@@richardabia9735 Honestly I think the portrayal of the clone wars Anakin seriously helped him truly understand what to do, it was just poor directing and script for the movies. With an example, guidance with the show, Hayden is able to see what he can do to play as Anakin. I bet if he were to do Episode 3 again, he'd be absolutely perfect with the new knowledge.
Bro he had to slow down so much for her to keep up, they need to find a way to get him in more fight scenes as Anakin cause he still got moves and it's such a shame seeing him hold back so much.
Rosario Dawson did a fantastic job to. And the only reason that Hayden slowed down, was because this scene was a Anakin training Ahsoka (training not trying to k!ll like Obi Wan). Which Ahsoka didn’t want to fight, even training-fight Anakin in the story anyway.
He's really grown into the role, hasn't he? That's why I think they should cast two twins to play young Luke and Leia right now... and let them do the same thing. Maybe when they're teenagers... because Leia in Obi-Wan was just a whiny know-it-all... plan ahead.
Honestly, if you think about it, Anakin's story is somewhat analogous to Hayden's. People hyped, Hollywood hyped and supportive, then overly hardcore fans dominated the social sphere and ended him and sent him into a different place, a place of darkness, like Anakin. But more depression than hate. But then, IRL a place of wisdom, searching, humility. He then comes back to save everything killing Emperor Palpatine, like he's saving Star Wars now.
One of the best Star Wars cast members to ever play the part. Star Wars fans are very conflicting due to how vast the story is and no matter how good or bad some people will still hate it.
That line about "Ive heard that before" being a genuine recollection confirms that, at least in Haydens mind, this was genuinely Anakin. Amazing scene and some of the best star wars since the disney purchase!
@@dylanrinker6831 I think he means this Anakin wasn't an illusion or someone or something in disguise but the real deal, because many speculated that wasn't really Anakin.
Admittedly, I rather liked how seamlessly he moved between the two styles. As though, in death, he has accepted that it's not either or, but that he is BOTH, Anakin and Vader. Like that taking both into himself as one, is what makes him the greatest.
Never been more disappointed by Dave than ep 5 here. No clone wars actors involved, young Ahsoka looked awful, no cosplayer has ever pulled off young Ahsoka, nobody’s skinny enough, flashback scenes were a cheap cloud of dust, the story didn’t progress at all, and fights aren’t at prequel level. First big L for Dave, loved episode 4 much more, and sure I’ll love episode 6 more too. Overall a big letdown so far for the Ahsoka show, so much potential and missed opportunities.
The changes in body language Hayden showed while switching between Anakin and Vader was fucking brilliant to watch. So happy to see him back, and adding more depth to the character.

@@ncard00 delusional if you think a young actress could ever be "this skinny" without anorexia... you are actually disgusting. The rest is just your dumb subjective opinion which is fine.
they were in a movie together back in 2003 called 'Shattered Glass' and it felt like an episode of the clone wars at times the way Rosario's character was trying to sabotage Hayden's

@@ncard00 it’s important to realize the clone wars characters are caricatures of their live action counterparts. It would be foolish to expect a cartoon character to be portrayed identically in live action, because it would be practically impossible.
"I've heard that before" is such a significant line when you think about it. That and "I wasn't expecting to see you so soon" make it pretty clear this is an Anakin who remembers being Vader, remembers fighting Luke, and remembers dying. This is the Anakin Luke redeemed.
I love Star Wars as much as the next guy, but Anakin as a character is not the greatest or most interesting even within just Star Wars, let alone great enough to enter a discussion about the "greatest characters of all time".
@rayaqin ???????????? Dafuq??? Darth Vader has become one of the most iconic villains in popular culture, and has been listed among the greatest villains and fictional characters ever. His masked face and helmet, in particular, is one of the most iconic character designs of all time Vader is in fact one of the greatest characters of all time that's wild you would say that.
I'm very happy for Hayden. He deserves all the love in this world. He is a wonderful actor and perfectly portrayed such an iconic character as Anakin. Both during the prequels and now. I screamed about this 20 years ago and will continue to scream. I also ask you to notice how well he moves, just WOW. I don’t want to offend anyone, but it’s just that Hayden especially stands out from others with his clear and confident movements. This is old school sword fighting. It's impossible to look away. Much respect.
Given the quality of the writing and directing of the prequels and how young he was that performance was far from perfect but not really his fault. Its great to see him come back to the role with more experience and a better written version of the character. its shocking how much better a character Clone Wars TV series Anakin was than prequels movie Anakin so it's nice to see him get to be that version.
0:42 This right here is why the scene worked so well. Hayden suggested something about how Anakin would respond and such, and Dave listened. I remember hearing how Mark tried to suggest things during the sequel trilogy, and the directors basically dismissed his ideas in favor of their own. Dave respected Hayden and listened to his suggestion and that made the scene so amazing as a result.
I really like how Hayden did his homework to incorporate the clone wars vibe into his preformance too. Nails the mentor vibe very well, and something we never got to see before.
You can really see the passion he has for his character. From knowing what Anakin would say to the way he moves with a lightsaber. He's been sorely missed from the universe and now im suddenly hungry for more. Give me live action Clone Wars and let my boi Hayden shine. I wanna see him do cool lightsaber things.
This is everything. Hayden getting the love he deserves. Reprising his beloved character in such a meaningful way. Finally getting to see Anakin and Ahsoka together in live action. Rosario and Hayden having an existing friendship. And Rosario's Ahsoka using this reunion to finally move forward and show everyone why this character has been such a favorite for so many years. Just brilliant all around and super happy for everyone involved. Big thanks to Dave Filoni for making this happen.
Seeing the fans be able to embrace Hayden Christensen and seeing him *happy* and being able to embrace fans in the same way is such a positive, wonderful thing.
Thank you, Dave Filoni, for all of this. For The Mandalorian, for The Clone Wars series, for Ashoka, for all of it. THANK YOU ! This man should be the guy running anything related to Star Wars.
@@wadewilson8011 Jon has done some great stuff, but some of it has gotten super sloppy when Filoni hasn't been heavily involved. BOBF and Mando season 3 could've used a lot more Filoni involvement, IMO
@@OEx25yeah but we don’t know how much either was involved in which show to be fair according to the credits filoni was involved in just as much in mando season 3 as he was in 1 and 2
I'm so happy Hayden still loves star wars after the prequels! No wonder he and Rosario had such great chemistry!! This made me genuinely so happy. Side note: When all the haters complain Ahsoka was too "stoic" when her character was *purposely* meant to be that way.
Older, wiser and also burying her emotions because she's scared of turning to the dark side just like Anakin. But Anakin showed her that she can't be afraid to live and that having emotions and a dark side doesn't necessarily mean she will become a Sith.
0:30 - Seeing them in costume genuinely embrace like that is so heartwarming in the context of the story, I really wish we had a moment where Anakin and Ahsoka just hugged each other and said goodbye.
I loved Hayden Christensen in the prequels, I'm so happy he came back for Ahsoka and for the Obi-Wan show. He deserves all the recognition he's getting

Hayden was PHENOMENAL in this episode! Watching him in this role made me feel like a kid again when I watched Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith in theaters and he perfectly captured the energy of Matt Lanter's interpretation of the character in The Clone Wars. You can really tell he watched and studied the show and knows this character by heart. His chemistry with both Rosario and Ariana Greenblatt was fantastic!
Having Hayden back like this as Anakin and with Ahsoka was honestly such a dream come true. He plays the role so well, both Anakin and Vader and he's an absolute legend at lightsaber fighting. Honestly nobody can compare to his technique and skill. Its so great seeing him back in the Jedi robes again (and the clone wars ones!) He still looks so good!
Honestly I feel like Hayden really understood Anakin so well and the moments in the Episode 2 and 3 where he could actually be in character and not have to struggle through choppy and sloppy dialogue he really did great. I love every time they bring him back. It adds much more depth and emotion to his fall and the true tragedy of it all.
When I first watched this episode and she was in the world between worlds and I heard the line " hello snips" I droped my drink I was holding and just watched with an open mouth when Anakin appeared behind Ahsoka. I couldn't believe that they brought him back.❤❤❤❤❤ Thank you Hayden and Dave for bringing back my biggest childhood hero❤❤❤
We need more of this Anakin. I hope he has a big role in the future. This Anakin seems to have more force powers than anyone else we know since he's mastered both dark and light. I can imagine him coming back in a big way with these new revelations.
Thank U Hayden, Rosario, & Dave Filoni. Let them haters hate! We true fans appreciate all the work, passion, time, & performances. Episode 5 was magical. :)
Hayden Christensen truly deserves an absolute honor and his own series within the SW universe. He is doing just an amazing and incredible job. His acting is brilliant and sharp from episode to episode and has huge potential. That's definitely his nature-born role and no one could perform this character better!
@@jairgsjunior Given how the current predicament of these SW live-action shows goes nowadays (most of them are divisive like _Obi-Wan Kenobi_ or Season 3 of _The Mandalorian_ especially), I'd say those better stay animated. It's not like the remakes are necessary - I mean, have you seen the recent Disney-helmed remakes? The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, etc.? First years of Darth Vader within that armor - that's what the series could be focusing on. Plus, good ol' James Earl Jones voice is not utilized that often...
Hayden is absolutely PHENOMENAL!!!! this amazing man deserves all the blessings in the universe❤so beyond happy he's finally getting the respect, love and appreciation he deserved since day 1,can't wait to see more of him
Them being in acting school together and then going separate ways and then Hayden becoming Anakin in the prequels and then Rosario playing Ahsoka and Hayden returning it's like coming full circle for them.
I'm a 51-year-old man brought to tears each time I've watched or watched along with episide 5, and it was no different with this short behind-the-scenes featurette. It's hitting a thousand emotions at once: Happy nostalgia for the prequels and their place in our lives. Goosebumps from seeing the relationship we loved in The Clone Wars come to life so beautifully and perfectly in live action. Continued celebration and validation of Hayden in this role that has defined his professional lifetime. He was absolutely magnetic in this portrayal of Anakin. And Ahsoka. I loved Rosario's description here. "You know her as a stoic, super-powerful, on-top-of-it warrior, and all of a sudden she's padawan again." That sent a chill through me with its accuracy.
Hayden was AMAZING! My childhood hero - still and always will be my hero!!! So nostalgiac and emotional seeing him in this episode!!! This is what Star Wars is all about!
00:42 seeing Hayden taking the wheels with suggestion on acting with Dave is just GREAT. Shows how freaking underrated he was with all that prequel bullshit.
Some of the best content to come out of Star Wars since Revenge of the Sith, seeing Hayden as Anakin again in those robes pre-vader and fighting in his own Anakin style was absolutely amazing, brought a smile to my face! It's awesome that he now knows how much his character was loved.
I'm soooo glad Hayden is finally being appreciated for that role. I was an OT kid and wasn't too fond of the prequels, but I still didn't understand all the vitriol at the time. Thankfully, that generation has grown, and the Force is finding balance once again...
We want more behind the scene !!! It’s a big event, 2 best episodes of star Wars !! Thank you Dave Filoni, Hayden Christensen , Rosario Dawson, all the team of Ahsoka tv show !!
You can tell from his performance.... Hayden is LOVING the hell out of this role!!! Also, it's awesome too know that the "I've heard that before" line was added by him! ABSOLUTE PERFECTION!!!!
The entrance with the red lightsaber was one of the most chilling Star Wars moments for me. Hayden has not lost his touch with the lightsaber, either! What a brilliant performance!
This show is blowing my expectations out of the roof. And I'm a long-time The Clone Wars and Rebels fan (as well as the prequels, Rise of the Empire era FOREVER).
It was so great to see Hayden playing Anakin again when he actually had a good script to work with. Especially since he got to play a whole range of different versions of Anakin from different time periods and did a fantastic job with shifting body language and tone on a dime.
I loved this episode. It's my favorite so far. It was perfect from beginning to end. The flashback scenes were amazing. From seeing Rex, the Purrgils, and this scene between Hayden and Rosario. It all gave goosebumps. I'm so excited for Part 6
Grew up with the prequels and really happy to see him be so loved these days compared to how he was seen a decade and a half earlier. You did good Hayden, you did good. ❤
Words can’t describe how I’m feeling right now, these two are amazing in every single way! Hayden was my hero as a kid and still is ❤ thank you so much for what you do for us fans Hayden and Rosario. Dave filoni I thank you from the bottom of my heart sir for giving us the fans the very best. I love all of you ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Ahsoka and Anakin scenes were some of the most Star Warsy things I have seen since the Obi-Wan series. It was so tense for me, and I became so immersed.
It took me a long time to get used to the idea of Hayden Christensen as a young Anakin and i was not happy initially. Over the years though i have changed my mind, he is/was the perfect choice and George Lucas did a fantastic job picking him. Nice job with this addition and i hope they can do more of this type of stuff. It's great to see the live action Anakin and Ahsoka in action.
The last time I felt anything positive about Star Wars was 2005. When Revenge of the Sith came out. And now I experienced something similar again. Thanks Hayden.
I've always rooted for Hayden and glad after all this time fans have embraced him. His portrayal of young Vader was fantastic and I am happy he was able to reprise his role....
Hayden did an amazing job as Anakin in last eweek’s episode. He and rosario have such a good dynamic. I love that we got this behind the scenes look at it.
