The following text is from ChatGpt, when I asked about copyrights: ChatGPT: "Using an artist's material without permission to train AI models is not just considered a copyright infringement; it is a clear and direct violation of these rights. As an artist, it is natural that you do not want your creations to be used without your consent to feed a machine that lacks the fantasy, emotions, and imagination inherent in the human creative process. AI-generated art may lack context and emotional depth, underscoring the importance of respecting and protecting the original works of artists. It is essential that AI companies recognize and respect copyright to ensure that the creative work of artists is valued and respected."

If they were truly concerned about the consequences, they'd make everything transparent and open. Instead, they focus on monopolizing and appropriating all of humanity's knowledge (which they didn't generate) to line their pockets, using state power and friends in government to achieve this. Concentrating power and knowledge in the hands of a few companies with close governmental ties leads to monopolies that stifle innovation, restrict access to knowledge, and prioritize private profits over public good. Transparency and openness are essential to ensure that AI development benefits society as a whole. Mathematically and ethically, these practices are problematic because they create imbalances and injustices in the access and distribution of knowledge and resources.

They just want to make money. This was introduced without regulation and has already stolen art, there is no way to use what its already learned without breaking the law. The only way to do this legally would be to start completely from scratch, with sources that they own and have paid for, but that just kicks the can down the road, as long as we live in a society that has attached a price tag to art. This was always the end stage of capitalism, AI just sped up the process. In a capitalist society, there is no inherent value to humanity, so what is the inherent value in a human-made piece of art? there is none. We need to live in a society that does value humanity.

"Some creative jobs maybe will go away, but maybe they shouldn't have been there in the first place." Absolutely RANCID thing to say. Without art, you would have nothing to steal from. Without art, you have no foundation for your trashy AI. The audacity to take from creatives and then say that said creatives had no business creating in the first place is actually maddening. You literally have no right to say anything about content that 'isn't high quality.' Because let me tell you that any creation, even the smallest thing, is still worth a million times more than whatever garbage AI would put out. Because those creations have something that AI doesn't. Those have human thought and effort put in. Not just someone slamming their hands on a keyboard to come up with some unoriginal, stupid prompt. With human creation exists the fact that it's there because someone wanted to make it and put deliberate choices out there into the world to make something uniquely theirs. It has an intention behind it that no machine could ever replicate. Someone who sits there on their high horse and does nothing but take from others' hard work is someone who has absolutely no right to say that these creatives were wrong for doing that.

@@sidhaunt What's creative about typing into a computer and having the machine do all the hard work for me? Part of art is knowing what you want and figuring out how to make it happen with nothing but your own two hands, your tools and your creativity. (And no, the AI does not count as a tool.) When I say effort, I don't mean 'effort' as in tapping a keyboard or coming up with a prompt or whatever. I mean effort to actually create what you want and doing it yourself without having to rely on literally stealing from other creatives.
@sidhaunt
@sidhaunt 19 дней назад
@@aliyah1164 I understand where your concern is coming from. But believe me these AI systems are machines made by humans who put day and night figuring out how to create these systems l. What you term a " simple prompt" needs a lot of practice and refining. All I am saying is as a human we can always upskill ourselves to better interact with these systems to explore dimensions that we haven't explored before. Not to be disrespectful but you stroking your brush and those engineers slamming the keyboard took an equivalent amount of effort and skill.

@aliyah1164 19 дней назад
@@sidhaunt "Practice and refining." You mean coming up with the correct combination of words, typing it into Midjourney and having it churn out an amalgamation of stolen artworks? Yeah, definitely on the same level of effort and skill as creating the whole thing from scratch with your own creativity and hard work. 😶 Those humans you talk about spent "night and day" figuring out how to create a system that does nothing but take from actual creators.

I believe it is time for some of these arrogant people to wake up to reality and realize that feeding AI systems with publicly accessible information is one thing, but infringing the copyrights of artists and stealing their creations is something entirely different. That is the reason why many artists and companies that work with musicians have sued some AI companies for using material without authorization. Firms including Sony Music, Universal Music Group and Warner Records say some AI companies have committed copyright infringement on an "almost unimaginable scale". They claim the pair's software steals music to "spit out" similar work and ask for compensation of $150,000 (£118,200) per work.

But the business case is automate as many jobs as possible to cut costs and increase profit margins for investors. And that's what gets CEOs and investors creaming their panties. It's so funny and ironic that the narrative being put forward is about reducing the barrier to participation, allowing more people to be creative. The ambition is reduce wages and job opportunities while increasing profits for business owners and investors. Everyone can be a penniless artist.
