What an amazing effort! This is such a charming and informative introduction to Ryan's remarkable project. This video is a gift to the community and is just remarkable in its conception and execution. Fantastic work, thank you!
Really sweet and fascinating video! I'm curious as to whether something like this could be developed in a "general" limited program, rather than something for each individual set/format. It would be wild to see an AI draft and build competitive decks in a chaos draft setting, with cards across Magic's history. Great vid!
Jared, you're right! One of Ryan's goals with this algorithm is to see if he can get it to a point where it understands limited Magic in a way that allows it to be successful drafting & building decks from any set. Can you imagine the possibilities for the MTGO Vintage Cube!?!
I’m particularly interested in the ramifications of that chaos draft question. Could the AI outperform Chaos Draft Pro Tour champions Arne Huschenbeth and Tim Aten? That would be super impressive!
Ryan is a pretty smart guy! However, it's been determined that magic is such a complex game as to be non-computable (i.e. a computer can't determine the outcome of games like in chess). Check out my other video on Complexity! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3WSnEGu1adg.html
@@ChillMTGtv That is irrelevant though. Starcraft is probably also non computable, yet alpha star can play it. There is no need for an AI to solve the problem, just to be sufficiently good at it.
I've been more and more interested in the progress of AI in MTG lately as I've been watching chess and seeing more and more AI videos. Chess engines are awesome tools the way they are utilized in the chess community. MTG engines could also be amazing tools that could improve play.
