Should've included Rue, it was so annoying that people were upset to discover she wasn't white when she was clearly described as having dark brown skin and eyes.
I've never read the books and always heard rue was white. Interesting they didn't get as upset when katniss is supposed to be darker than in the movies 🤔
I can’t visualize Cesar Flickerman and president Snow being casted any other way after the amazing makeup and wordrobes provided for Stanley Tucci and Donald Sutherland by the costume & stylists team. I feel that Hunger games film should have won best costume and design.
R.I.P. Donald Sutherland 😢 He was such a convincing President Snow, it took me too long to dignified between the character he was portraying and himself as an actor. Man was a legend
He actually was not even considered for the role until he wrote a letter to the director convincing him to cast him. It’s amazing because _A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes_ hadn’t been published yet and he nailed the character.
@@carlireland5049wait, for real? I’m so glad he did, because I cannot imagine anyone else coming close to portraying him so expertly as Donald Sutherland did!
@@carlireland5049 I didn't know that! I remember seeing a behind-the-scenes with the actors, and he was so passionate about the books and their overall message. It's cool to learn he actually lobbied for the part.
@@Yaffayaffa1984 The AI reminds me of Ian McShane who I think would make a pretty good Haymitch if they ever get around to doing a streaming series on the books.
Finnick and Cesar looked really good! I feel like we are so used to seeing 20+ year olds playing teens in movies that if an actual 16 year old had played Katniss, she would’ve looked so young. The AI version of her could be super accurate but she looks so young compared to the movie portrayal! Also, it’s insane to me that none of these people actually exist.
Actually, the book makes the distiction about the seam people being darker than the ones not born there. If not, then the author wouldn't need to make the contrast between the people of district 12, the seam people having olive skin and the others having pale skin. FYI, having olive skin doesn't mean they're not white if thats what you're worried about. Italians and Greeks have olive skin too.
They were. They didn't want people eho haven't read the books to get on here acting dumb. If they can harass the child actress who played Rue, they won't care about a youtuber. Although its interesting that people only hated Rue, not Thresh. It makes me suspect that most of the hatred came from other blk people.
@@shanchan8247 I can assure you, it wasnt black people you can read the comments of the people and see their pics or location. People didnt mind Thresh because he was a minor character, but Rue was a pivotal part of the story and one of the turning points of Katniss character trajectory. I mean " Dark satiny brown skin" is pretty obvious.. District 11 was obviously the Southern region like Atlanta, Mississippi, Alabama.. etc.. The hatred did not come from black people and yeah it was a missed opportunity with Rue.. its conclusive, because the AUTHOR said they were black.. insert eye roll to the naesayers on the ones that said it was black people hating...
I forget the exact context, but I think it was the Games not giving him to much focus as a friend of a victor, because it would call into question why Katniss was into Peeta when Gale was right there.
I think he’s supposed to, main difference being is their builds since Snow is small and really skinny whereas Peeta is quite broad and stocky and Lucy gray looks similar to Katniss. So Peeta reminds him of himself
The description of Peeta as below-average height is a film-only characteristic. In the books, he is described as medium/average height and is likely at least a head taller than Katniss (before the tribute parade, she has to stand on tip-toe to kiss him on the cheek). "Something of a looker" was a description of teenaged Haymitch, not middle-aged, alcoholic Haymitch. "Duck-tail" was a reference to Prim's shirt always coming untucked, not her hairstyle. "Too handsome and too male" is wild out of context. 😆
Yeah peeta was definitely never described as ‘small for a male’ im not sure where they got that from? Not that it would matter if he was, but I know for a fact that was never stated
If you take into account genetics, both Prim and Katniss would have looked like Kylie/Kendall Jenner, or Khloe K (their mom, Kris, has a darker olive skin (like Katniss’s dad) while their dads are full-fledged Caucasian (like Katniss’s mom). Or perhaps like Mila Kunis (a Caucasian with olive undertone)
The actress who played the District 4 girl would have been perfect to match Katniss' book appearance. AI Haymitch looks about 70 and definitely not a looker AI Coin doesn't even have shoulder-length hair. A point hammered in about Flickerman in the books is that he supposedly hasn't aged in decades and in the AI he looks like a meek older man.
WOW!!! I love these, I wish they'd of stuck closer to these descriptions. I love the actors but they felt a bit off when comparing them to the book descriptions. (Except for Flickerman he was GREAT!!)
I think the biggest thing with the movies is the over glamorized Katniss and peeta. They were 16, but they were malnourished children. Katniss was described as having olive toned skin. Instead we got conventionally attractive white woman hero. I think the movies are good in many ways, but I think they missed the mark with some castinh
That’s interesting to me, have you never seen that before? That actually exists, some siblings looks different because some take genetics off their mother and others look like their father. Katniss looks like her dad, who is from the seam.
Most of these are still inaccurate. Katniss has olive skin not brown and her eyes are grey. Same with gale. Alma 's hair short in this instead of shoulder length. Finnik looks way too old in this. Effy's wig wasn't orange and it wasn't that big. Hamish is described as having sandy/blond hair. I would like to see an artist (not Ai) draw the descriptions. They also left out Rue but I guess that's cuz the movie nailed the casting for her. I really don't get why people were saying rue's movie version wasn't accurate. They cast her exactly as she was described in the book
What makes it more ridiculous is that the books never said once that peeta was small, especially never said he was small for a male not even once 😭. It wouldn’t matter if he was short but it’s a fact that he was never described as short, he’s at least a head taller than Katniss. And the ‘too male’ thing for Gale wasn’t a description of how Gale looks at all, that was in catching fire when Katniss said that the Capitol made up a lie of Gale being Katniss cousin, because they interview family and friends of the final 8 tributes and the Capitol audience loved the star crossed lovers story line so much they had to make Gale family because in their opinion he’s ’too handsome and too male’ to just be a friend.
I wanted to see an image of Rue b/c the actress who played her was almost exactly what I had already imagined when reading the book… and yet, some people (who I assume did not read the book) bitched and moaned for some reason that she was a black girl.
Yep, let’s not give AI the job of casting actors just yet haha. Katniss and Gale still didn’t have olive skin and grey eyes. But many of them looked pretty accurate. Donald Sutherland though (RIP) will always be Snow.
