ive enjoyed several of you other vids, the loss of aikido popularity, the cost of mma, and also the negative influence of seagal. They were all very thoughtful and i enjoyed them. with this kind of video, it is frustrating to hear a lot of details that are not specific to the technique itself. i think you provide good content, and i believe you would find it useful to prepare if not an exactl script before filming, then at least a list of points that you want to make, so that you can streamline what you want to say and keep the momentum moving. you seem like a very positive person and i thank you for your work and wish you all the best,

Thanks. I appreciate your openness and objectivity. Running a full time Dojo is a big work and I don't always find the time to put as much detail into my videos as I wish I could, but I still want to continue sharing what I can, thus sometimes these tutorials are very spontaneous and done on the spot, as if I would be teaching a class. I see that it can be seen as a downfall, but I am also inspired to share my methods and way of teaching too, thus it has it's benefits as well. This particular video (simple techniques) I'm not very happy about myself either, I find others to have worked better, but nevertheless, if we don't try, we won't develop. All in all, I will consider your feedback Sincerely, Rokas

Hey! I've watched some of your "brief history" videos, and really liked them. For videos such as this, explaining a technique, I recomend that you make it a little bit shorter and more dynamic, that would be perfect. Also, I have a question, I know that you are teaching de basics of kotegaeshi, sankyo and nikkyo, but in sankyo in particular it just seemed like a strange stance to begin the technique, why would you do sankyo on someone who is shaking your hand? I started practicing Aikido a few months ago, and I'm curious about that. Thanks for the good video!

Hey! First of all, thanks for your support. More brief history videos will come out during the summer. The technical videos I've made are directed to an in-depth tutorial, thus extra time fits it, but I will think about making short versions too. Your question is a good one. As I've mentioned in the introduction, this particular video is made specifically in order to feel and try the techniques as easy as possible, they are not meant to be the most technically correct ones. Asking a person to stand in a proper stance while trying a simplified technique is actually and extra effort, so to make it even more simple, when I teach these techniques, I allow people to stand in a natural stance (thus, what you see in the video). Same applies to a handshake. It's simply easy to grasp, since we do it so often

+philipp ewen you probably have to resort to do henka waza and oyo waza....trying to do kihon waza is not gonna work because it's not for fighting it's just pure basics to guide you through the stepping stones. I crossed trained into karate and i tried to do some aikido techniques in their basic way but i've founded they dont work during sparring....but executing them in henka and oyo waza did, all i needed to do was to just adjust and adapt. The important thing is to irimi into their space especially against strikers as they need their distance to extend their punches and kicks whenever they move in. Kinda similar to a bjj guy stepping into the strikers space in a MMA match. Definitely use kickboxing jabs & snappy kicks as atemi's to help you to irimi (close the space) otherwise it won't work. And if you're lucky they may try to do a momentous round house kick (think yokomenuchi). PS i'm not a black belt im a student too of both Aikido and Shotokan. Good luck. Oss
