Thank you Aimee, not only for sharing your knowledge, but also for doing so with a vibe that take out all the scary parts. Best regards from Argentina!

Wow! So happy to have found you! My father (born in 1921) used to play bebop guitar and bebop scat in his basso profundo pianissimo voice.

Aimee, thanks for your wonderful insight into Bebop. I was a prog rock player mainly that just dabbled in jazz. Never thought I could get it after having bought a ton of books. I always approached things in a very technical manner, which in the case of bebop, can be very cumbersome, until you realize what you showed me about actually singing those lines. You have kept things musical and always fun. Thank you for that! :)

Aimee, I'm 53yo and bought a historic Victorian home. Aquired a 1903 Chickering parlor grand and I'm learning to play. Thanks for sharing these videos. The bebop scale is my next project! You are awesome

I've done research on my house and between 1902-1910 the household has various recitals well attended. I'm looking forward to recreating the events.

These "series" videos are really practical for learning because it's easier to have all lessons in one video than going through all your uploads to find what i watched half a year ago. Usually when i'm finished with studying one of your videos you've already uploaded 10 new lessons :) Thanks for this!

I LOVE your bebop series Aimee!!! I had very limited bebio knowledge but thanks to your series, I'm beginning to expand my knowledge. Being a pedal steel guitar player, bebop and jazz playing is something I want to excel at. Paul Franklin, Buddy Emmons and Curly Chalker all could tear some bebop up! Your videos arent just for pianist and vocalist! Thanks again!

Whew!!!! Sterling series I especially liked the " Melody first than away from ". A novel idea at least to me to practice the bee bob rhythms and become fluent with expressing the swing feel. Kudos Aimee

Thanks Aimee. Your videos are excellent for aspiring jazz students and top among all the videos on the net. You sing and play great too. However, I love the Omni book for the technical aspects as exercises. It takes a long time to transcribe all those licks and that time could be well spent getting the patterns into our fingers in every key. On transcribing, I have a hard time finding the beginning of a measure to notate it by ear. Although I can get many of the licks, I don't know where they fall in the measure. Maybe somebody could comment.

Greetings from Turkey! Your videos are really informative for me and they help me with expanding my musical vocabulary. Thank you so much for this enlightment. Have a great day and I hope everything will go well in your life. All the best. Batı PS. You are one of the most exuberant individuals I have ever encountered in my life. I hope we can meet one day and in this way I can learn lots of things from you. :)

I'm definitely going to check out the playlist for the BEBOP. A friend contacted me on Facebook and sent me a CD he made off a cassette tape from high school. I'm ashamed of myself the way I hack Jazz. One of the songs we played was Lady Bird. I was doing a job for a high school kid. In fact I was the only one who didn't get lost I had to cover the Bass player when he did This is a long time ago. I graduated in 1973. Over the years I've been paid to play just about everything BUT jazz and when I do have to play it It sounds like blues with. arpeggios and some scales wholetone chromatic major and Dorian. I guess I just haven't VB had the discipline. But this series of yours seems like it help me immensely. I've been able to play the blues since I was a kid and over the years I've been fortunate enough to play with some famous people. I have played a lot of Rock and country but Jazz seems to have eluded me. And I be heard it since I can remember. My mother used to play it every day. Anyway I appreciate that you're there. This time I think that series may get me over the hump if. I want to try and do this thing before I get to old to learn. Thanks.

This series is the best music instruction I have ever had! Thank you so much! Now I am begining to feel like a real jazz player (or at least see how far I have to go ....) If you were to put out midi files, many might find that useful -- eg 3 files: bassline.mid, chords.mid and melody.mid Then people who don't have a piano or who can't (yet!) sing and play fluently can easily sing along to just bass, rootless chords, drop the melody in and out etc ... or mess with the melody in midi -- millions of songwriters write exactly like that -- nudging midi notes until it sounds good ... just sayin' Keep on pianing!

Hey Aimee! Have you seen any of those Barry Harris videos floating around on RU-vid? You sing a lot of cool lines like he does but your teaching style is more patient and nurturing. Thanks for that!!! I dig all his stuff but sometimes I feel stressed out trying to keep up with his pacing. Lol

Could someone enlighten me, when someone mentions the "bebop scale," are they talking about the major bebop scale or the dominant bebop scale? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bebop_scale

Bryan Moore in this overview she is talking about the bebop scale that has both the b7 and the 7 in it. In Bb bebop scale the notes are Bb, C, D Eb, F, G, Ab, A

lius karnanta you can buy the Charlie Parker Omnibook at pretty much any big music store or online. Just make sure you buy the right edition for your instrument. I.e. if you are a guitarist, make sure you get the one for C instruments.
