I have the very same system for my ram 1500. It came with everything including the back up cam and the harness was very specific to my truck. I had a car stereo company do the instal. At first the technician was sceptic about doing it saying it was possible my steering wheel controls probably wouldn’t work after. But he was amazed the he had it all working in about 30 minutes and he didn’t have to cut my factory harness. I love it and it uses CarPlay and android auto. So it doesn’t matter what phone you have. It automatically chooses the right platform. Best 200 I have ever spent. Plus I was able to hook up both of my aftermarket amplifiers for subs and main speakers. Awesome unit for sure.
Wow! Thanks for sharing your experience 😁 Yes overall I'd say its quite an easy install and the functionality / customization goes well beyond Android Auto! Cheers
Thanks for watching! Yes Ainavi is one of those surprising brands that you try out and find that its even better than what's out there. Hope you enjoy your H6 as I am! Cheers
This is awesome I have the exact same car 2020! I hated that it didn't have Android auto. I use a carlinkit but I'm debating on just doing this. It just seems so much more useful and advanced than the current one.
Thanks! 🙂I still have much love for the Carlinkit if it wasn't for my Toyota display going kaput. Now since I got the H6 I really do feel that it makes our notorious Corollas' more "complete". I'm so surprised by the stark differences though as to what it could have been if Toyota spent more time and money on giving us a modern system. Especially when 2020 wasn't that far away - looking back at the old Entune, its medieval in my eyes - they could have also given us a better 10" screen, which by the way, is always the main compliment when people get in my car now :) and the higher resolution makes all the street names more sharper in Android Auto. Anyway I'll detail everything in Part 2 when I get around finishing editing the video! Cheers!
Looking forward to your followup on this. If I can make my 2020 SE android compatible AND get a more responsive and feature-rich head unit for a comparable price to the plug in carlinkit type units, I'm sold.
Hi friend, I have the 2020 corolla SE version i dont think it should matter. I am sold on the H6 after watching your videos. However, on Ali Express in Ainavi how do i contact them so i can be sure they send me the correct cables etc... do they make contact once you purchase ?
Great! Thanks for watching, yes the AliExpress chat is the way to contact them directly. If you scroll down the product page or go to their main store page there's a button called "Message" that will bring up the chat dialog. They're located in China so you'll need to wait for their business hours for replies. Before you purchase anything, just contact them and tell them you have a 2020 Corolla SE and ask if the H6 is compatible (i'm sure it is) then upload a pic of your current head unit in the chat. That's how they confirmed mine. They'll ask you questions if there are certain issues, as well you may want to ask them anything on your mind. Then I went ahead and purchased letting them know in the same chat thread. Cheers
hi there just watched ure video...great video..did u purchase the usb adaptor cable the one that will work with the cars original usb..or did it come with the package? Thanks
hi there i just finished installing the car radio.ive fitted the usb cable that makes the oem usb work..but it dont seem to be working ..is there a setting for it..thanks
Nice job on the install! hmm you might want to check the USB connection on the back quite often the pins may not be pushed in all the way. Try re-inserting it again.
Greets from finland, looked your video and bought Ainavi h5 4g+32 to my rav 4. Installing it to the car and now my reverse camera and ewerything else works but!! I cant connect the android aito. From ZLINK5. The qr code comes to the screen but then comes the problem i just cantfind right app to install it? Or what can i do. Please help!! Ihave auto android app in my samsung phone originallu and it worked fine in my latest car corolla 2020 but with the wire! This has now wireless auto android. And thank you.
Thanks for watching! You'll need to connect your h5/h6 to wireless and let the ZLINK5 register. If you still have trouble you can take a pic of the QR code and send it to ainavi support using aliexpress chat. They will help you register it for you. Cheers
You are lucky. I purchased the same model a month and a half ago and now it is not booting...even with the file provided by the seller, it cannot be restored...I think you got very lucky.
Could you please link the socket extension you bought for removing the stock head unit in the description? I'm putting my H6 head unit in this weekend.
If you want something really quick and easy for AA I would recommend the carlinkit. However the larger res screen allows more clarity especially in AA the street names are sharper and has more space for split windows. I do think my AINAVI is superior in that sense but it all comes down to cost and the work to set everything up. Cheers
Hey there, thanks alot for this video, you convinced me to pull the trigger, but i just noticed that they also have a 13 inch one. I think im gonna go for that one, what do you think. Edit, i bought it, its the AInavi x5 13.1 inch . it was only a little more money but im really hoping the install process is the same and has all the same features
Awesome! Thanks for watching! I did consider the 13" at one point but I was thinking on my corolla it may physically block all my center air vents so I decided to play it safe. Cheers
Thanks man! Appreciate you watching! Unfortunately it doesn't seem they list one for your model but you should ask to be sure. Dasaita has one for a 2020 but its not a Cross variation. Cheers
Could make a request to the company to provide for Yaris Cross? I'll wait for it If it could be made to be tilted towards the driver like in CHR I'm sure thousand will be sold
Nice!! Thanks for watching! It has a long wire. I placed the GPS at the corner next to the passenger A-pillar. Just important not to have it covered to get the best signal. Cheers
Good morning. I installed the AINAVI H5, 2 problems encountered, original USB port does not work and no reaction from the device with wireless Android Auto yet detected in the smartphone, were you able to install Android Auto? THANKS
@user-hx2il5ik3b Not sure why your usb would not work since theres two direct connectors on the unit. Double check if it's fastened properly. As for android auto, make sure you connect to wifi first because ZLINK has to register your unit. If you have problems you can take a screenshot of the QR code and send it to Ainavi chat on aliexpress. They will help activate it for you. Cheers
Hey, thank you for this video. I live in Toronto, can you please install this headunit on my corolla and of course I will pay you for your labor. Plz lemme know.
Thanks for watching fellow Ontarian! I'm honored :-) unfortunately I best not be liable for my novice skills, but if you follow each step in this video its not too hard to do it yourself! Cheers
Thanks for watching! I probably would say natively there would be no support since globally it's quite niche however if you have an SiriusXM Android app or Android Auto / Carplay counterpart it should work just fine. I'd chat with AINAVI sales to confirm since I've never had SiriusXM before. Cheers
You may want to contact AINAVI chat about Yaris Hybrid support as I recall there are few users here that have one and confirming they have statistical reports on hybrid systems. Cheers
Hello Squishy Hammer, just now ordered my H6 with 6cores and 128gb. Hopefull this will be a good one with enough power and the exact canbus.. How is your unit working so far now?
Is there some tactile delay on the Android Auto or Apple Carplay? And if I have maybe other questions, should it be possible to contact you maybe by chance?
@@rickdejong2438 I would say the delay is minimal and pretty much as fast it can be due to the nature of interface. If any problems contact AINAVI support as they're quite the experts here, but of course you can always comment here and I'll try to contribute where I can. Cheers
@@squishyhammer Hello Squish, I just received an message from AliExpress with " Delay in customs clearance. We inspect your order. " and the post office asking me for paying customs clearance costs. The document I received is telling "Multimedia Player". When I check my local postservice app it is saying the package have a total of 1.85 kilogram (4.08 pounds) but is this a good weight? In my opinion it is very very light and I can not believe it. Can you give me a response to this? Thanks.
Unfortunately it doesn't utilize the car mic but the internal/ext mic on the unit. To be honest the mic quality isn't that great either so if that's a sticking point for you, you may want to avoid purchasing android head units in general or use your phone instead. Cheers
I do agree it is pretty substandard. I've removed the external mic for now however I'm experimenting on soldering a new mic directly to the onboard pcb. I'll post my findings on the channel. cheers
Thank you for this video, I just got the H5 for my 2019 non hybrid corolla and I can't get the CANBUS to work properly... I can see the speed on the main screen (I guess it's from the CANBUS) and the steering wheel controls work but nothing else, no camera mode when I shift to reverse. Could you please share the CANBUS settings you have? Also, where is your rear camera yellow connector? what you showed is connecting one yellow to another and they both connect to the head unit. Mine is coming from the back and has a red wire with the yellow connector.
The speed on my screen actually comes from the GPS when connected. The cam should be connected like 14:52 thru the yellow rca connections that both stem from my H6 (I'm using the stock Toyota reverse camera) Not sure if H5/G5 is the same. The CANBUS is set on the first generic Toyota corolla model - I'll have to double check but I didn't play around with that much.
@@spiritcore1 hmm I believe generally the red wire should be the reverse sensing wire to have it switch to your cam. Did you tie it to the reverse wire shown at 9:10 ? If someone has more knowledge on this or correct me if I'm wrong here, please chime in!
@@squishyhammer thank you. I will try connecting like you did. I'm trying to solve the canbus issue first, can you control the AC from the head unit? I know it's part of the canbus so it might give me a clue.
@@spiritcore1 Displaying climate info from the AC is definitely possible however it cannot be controlled on-screen I've found. The thought had occurred to me, have you tried physically re-seating the CANBUS box on the connector? It may have been loose out of the box. That may explain why you have no Canbus functionality as a whole...
In their product description they recommend contacting them first to confirm compatibility. I do remember just taking pics of my original head unit and having them look at it along with my model info. When I got confirmation I purchased and let them know that I did order in the same chat thread. I've been using that same chat for every communication just to keep it organized with the msg history. Cheers
Hello, I just installed mine H5 in my Prius. I can get to see the energy flow working from the hybrid system. However I cannot get to see fuel consumption bars like in the original. Since I get speed and all other features I’m sure I can get that show as well. Do you see fuel consumption in your @squishyhammer ? Or anybody else with this unit or hybrid car. Thank you.
Thanks for watching! Yes I can see data for Fuel Consumption per minute w/ avg speed, travel time, continuous mileage as well as the past history. Must be different for hybrid unless there is another Canbus setting you could try. The hybrid stats doesn't include this info? I rarely use these menus as my corolla dash already displays some info after each trip. Cheers
@@squishyhammer Thank you for your reply. What about your microphone audio quality in phone calls? I got everybody complaining today they cannot hear me well. All of a sudden my reverse camera is no longer working too. ANy suggestions? Thank you.
@@michelgarciag Yes the microphone quality is still subpar. I have removed the external mic and kept with the internal. I will be doing some modifications to see if I can improve it. Will report back when I get to it. Cheers
I believe there wasn't much on my original entune to adjust any setting but things like monitoring eco stats which are also available on the h6 as well as many other options I haven't experimented with (see the last screen in my Part 2 video). Cheers
Before I would have had the onboard clock sync with the headunit, but I found out its best to just have them separate. On the H6 it auto adjusts correctly on every startup once my sim or wifi gets connected. I will still manually adjust the onboard clock once in a while when its daylight savings time.
For myself I don't use the radio much but it does seem satisfactory to me. The app does appear to have fine-tuning. Again, this could be very subjective depending on your area and probably your car antenna which it is connected to...
Hey squishy I have a question for you, I've had my unit for a couple months now and I love it, granted it's not the exact same one that's in this video same brand though but the bigger screen the 13-in one. I've been having an issue where sometimes it decides to disconnect from my car essentially I just lose the backup camera and the ability to like do stuff with the steering wheel like volume and change song. And the only way I have found to fix it which thankfully I've gotten pretty damn quick at it but I actually unplug one of the plugs and plug it back in. They will not work again until I do that. Is this ever happened to you?
Strange, never had that issue but that would drive me bonkers. It sounds like the canbus abruptly stops communicating for some reason. Does it happen randomly or within a certain time period? Does it work after complete shutdown of the unit? I'd definitely give Ainavi a chat - perhaps they have an updated or alt firmware to try...
@@squishyhammer sometimes it happens after like an hour sometimes it happens after a week but every time it happens it won't work again till I unplug the power cable and re insert it. By the way one more tip I found you probably discovered this but if you tap on the KMH part of the main screen you can change it to MPH
Hay man, I am considering getting the 13-in version for my car but I have some concerns regarding the size. I am afraid it might be too big and it can block my view. I would be happy if you can share you experience with the unit so far. Thanks!
@@shibosan1 That was my concern as well. I think the 13-in would make more of noticeable increase horizontally then vertically blocking my view. I believe it is adjustable isn't it? Even so I was more afraid of it totally blocking the air vents below. That is why I opted with the 10 inch which I've found is just right for me so far. I don't think I would go any larger myself, perhaps some people with 13inch model can chime in here.
Okay so I have my unit installed it's so awesome but there's only one problem I'm having with it, there's like an audio delay, almost a 2 second lag from the audio to the video, not a huge deal but I was wondering if you experienced this or found a solution
Is the delay using the Video player? I haven't really encountered any sort of audio delay aside from stuttering with a huge filesized movie or some random connection issue affecting RU-vid
@@squishyhammer It's when I'm just watching videos using my phone, like if I'm watching a RU-vid video on my phone the audio is about almost 2 seconds behind coming out of my car
@@sLaMz1o1hmm not sure I've experienced that before. Are you using the mirror functionality or thru AA? I think a slight delay is expected but two seconds is quite some time
@@squishyhammer thru AA the audio is lagged, but I've done some research and I think it's because It's encoding the audio which then has to be decoded. The audio is instant If I'm watching something from the unit itself which I realized is the way better option anyway, Plus it really only matters if I'm watching a video like if I'm just listening to music I won't notice it other than the fact that it responds slower if I pause or change the volume
@sLaMz1o1 ah yes that makes sense since AA does transcoding on the fly. I had such a delay when using my carlinkit device which I believe is quite common. It must be quite apparent with the split av. Thanks for sharing! Cheers
