Wondering why natural stevia is not allowed as a sweetener?

SUCH a great question! These are my two favorite articles that address that: www.thepaleomom.com/paleo-splenda-erythritol-stevia-low-calorie-sweeteners/ and www.thepaleomom.com/trouble-with-stevia/. ❤

@@ShannaNemrow thank you for the links. Honey and maple syrup it is! Thankfully, with cutting sugar and detoxing from it I am finding I do not need it for much, but if and when I reintro decaf coffee I think I will need a little sweetner. Maybe coconut milk will suffice or ghee and coconut oil(I used to do bulletproof coffee). Also, if I am intensely craving sweet a single pitted date and/or a little coconut manna have been my go to's.

@@cmac6992 You're welcome! I've never been a coffee drinker, so I don't have personal recommendations, but I've seem some yummy sounded coffee creamer recipes floating around...like this one: joyfoodsunshine.com/paleo-vanilla-coconut-coffee-creamer/ and the almond milk can be replaced with coconut cream or coconut milk. Love that you've found ways to satisfy your sweet craving - that's such a game changer!

I am doing the elimination phase for 2 months now. And I have been seeing improvements in my symptoms and I lost a lot of weight. But my antibodies doubled up ): I didn‘t focus so much on what to exclude and cooking for myself was very therapeutic. But seeing my antibodies double up just made me feel down ): I felt like I‘m not going to make it. And the thing is I live in Vienna, and the doctors here just don‘t support me in my journey with AIP, bc they don‘t believe in AIP helping with antibodies. I just don‘t know what to do ):
@ShannaNemrow
@ShannaNemrow 3 года назад
Thank you so much for sharing! So glad you were able to see improvements in your symptoms through the elimination phase - sounds like you're ready for the reintroduction phase! As far as your antibodies doubling up, it could be due to a number of reasons. How were your stress levels during that time period? Did you have your antibodies checked right when starting AIP and then two months into AIP? (If it had been awhile, your antibodies could have gotten higher before starting AIP). Also keep in mind everyone is different - my antibodies took several months to come down eventhough I found lots of relief from my symptoms. Also keep in mind bio-individuality - everyone is different. There's no one diet that is right for everyone - and lifestyle and mindset are incredibly important too. It sounds like you've seen some great improvements, and that it may be time to reintroduce some foods. ❤❤❤

On one of your videos I remember you saying something about special help for absorbing fats if one doesn’t have a gallbladdder. Where do I go to find out what that info is?
@ShannaNemrow

Hi Michelle! Yes! If someone doesn't have a gallbladder, it can be a game changer to support the absorption of fats with supplements. Your functional medical doctor, or naturopath, or nutritional therapy practitioner can recommend one best for you. :)

To MichelleMaBelle22:. My personal experience was that I detoxed for about 10 days. However, I was expecting to detox. I was happy to think about all the toxins leaving my body. It affected my elimination, my body "fragrance", my digestion, sleep and headaches. I have heard that symptoms can vary a great deal from person to person. Some people spend huge amounts of money for procedures to help them detox, so I was enjoying picturing my toxins being forced out of my body.

I am just getting started and I am feeling worse. Some things are better but my skin is breaking out and I’m so tired! Is this part of the detoxifying process and how long will it last? (Digestion and joint pain is better 🙏🏻)
@ShannaNemrow
@ShannaNemrow 3 года назад
Hi Michelle! So it really depends on the person and our unique circumstances, health history, root causes, and so much more. I felt worse before I felt better as well. I went 100% all in. The first week/week and a half were the worst for me. Some people transition slower which can be easier on the body depending on the situation. It's always a good idea to work with your medical team (functional med doctor, naturopath or whatever your medical team looks like) to address any concerns. So glad to hear digestion and joint pain are already better! Sending you lots of support! ❤❤❤

I have to live on the AIP diet with very very very few intros forever to stay in remission with HIdradenitis Suppurativa. I also cannot eat many AIP foods. I basically have to live on like 10 foods. It's a major loss but it keeps me in remission.

@@ShannaNemrow HS runs differently, if you research it. You get horrifying life threatening boils and I have had it for 30 years. I went into total remission when I went on the elimination phase and I can only add back coffee, hard alcohol, eggs and sometimes nuts or a horrifying boil appears. It's a directly food related disease, for me and many. Every HS body is different. There are many who can only stay in remission from being full AIP. Sucks but I am used to it now after two years.

@@bloomiverse Thank you for sharing! I know a couple of people with HS, and was on a podcast with Cristina from The Castaway Kitchen who has HS (www.phoenixhelix.com/2020/03/06/episode-143-how-to-survive-an-autoimmune-flare/) where she talked about her flares and how she manages her HS and flares. But you hit the nail on the head when you said every HS body is different. It's the same with Hashimoto's or any autoimmune disease. They look differently in different people, and the way each of us find wellness is going to look differently too. So glad you've found a way to manage your HS after 30 years! I'd love to share your story sometime!

10 months😳?! I am about 5 weeks in. I have not incorporated organ meats and just started a collagen supplement in my morning tea. It is 2 weeks worth, so I am thinking of attempting my garden green beans and possibly egg yolks soon. Something flared me after my last monthly cycle. Can hormones do that? I cannot think of any dietary changes other than I haven't been as consistent with vegetables or my green smoothies this past week.
@ShannaNemrow
@ShannaNemrow 3 года назад
10 months is not usual so don't worry! Organ meats can really help - if you can't stomach them, there are organ meat supplements. So in my personal experience, I used to flare monthly, like clockwork, the days before starting my period (different than PMS - like an autoimmune flare). I have a friend with RA who is the exact same way, and I've heard others with that experience. That monthly flare improved as my wellness journey continued. So hormones can affect a lot, and it's a good idea to check with your functional medical doctor or medical team to help with hormone regulation concerns. Also, I found that when I cut down on my greens and veggies, I don't feel as great as I do when I include more. Sounds like you're doing an amazing job!! Keep up the good work! ❤❤❤

@@ShannaNemrow thank you for the feedback Shanna! My flare was post-period and I do take iron, b12, d3 and vit c, but I think I need to follow your suggestion of a log for sleep, food and exercise etc so I can pinpoint. I definitely had not been sleeping well that week. Maybe 4 hrs...I also need to determine if I will do armour or levothyroxine for my hashi's. Endocrinologist consult soon as my labs were elevated for T3(

@@cmac6992 You're welcome! There's so many ins and outs of living well with Hashimoto's, and it really is like figuring out your own personal wellness puzzle. Each of our puzzles look different. It sounds like you are on the right track and figuring out what options are right for you as far as medicine and lifestyle and nutrition. I remember thinking "okay, maybe I can't feel 100% right away, but maybe I can cultivate habits and find ways to feel 1% better at a time, and then maybe in time I'll feel 50% better, then 60% better, then 70% better, and so on." Fast forward to today, most of the time, I feel 90% better than I did when I was at my rock bottom. But it took time and consistency and changing things up as I felt inspired. You got this!

Do you have a supplement company that you trust? My FNTP had me on Standard Process but I'm not impressed with some of their ingredients. At this point I'm of the mindset that I'd rather supplement with whole foods like fermented cod liver oil, beef liver capsules, oysters weekly and so on with maybe a D3 supplement & magnesium.

Hi Alisha! I do! So I use a few different companies that I trust for myself and different clients and depending on supplement needs. My current favorite is Pure Encapsulations. Love your mindset of supplementing with whole foods also! What we eat is incredibly important, and it's also important we can absorb what we eat so digestive supplements can be beneficial too. :)
