I know it would mess with your aesthetic, but after I crushed my gluteus medial on a 12 ft half-pipe coping disaster 50-50 attempt, I really took an appreciation for Crash Pads and copycat products that came afterwards. Shortly after I got them, I missed a grind on a box of my local skatepark and somehow landed right on my lower back on the angle iron. No pain, no damage. Once you get a little bit older, you appreciate things like that.
