I love this man. I'm at the ANG in Oklahoma and I'm currently going to drills but I haven't gone to basic yet (I go in December), my current job is vehicle maintenance but my goal has always been to be a part of the TACP community. In ANG you actually choose your unit before you swear in, and I wanted to go straight into TACP but I failed my depth perception. I'm going to clear up this depth perception mess for sure, because like you guys said I won't take no for an answer, but I count this as a blessing too because when I do eventually become a TACP, I'll be bringing in an additional skill to the team - being able to work on vehicles. Can't wait, thank you Ones Ready

Former TACP, coolest job I ever had. Started in Falcon twelve with 23 other guys. Eight of them graduated on time, two of us graduated with Hawk 12 or 13 (memory is a little fuzzy on that after all these years). Everyone else washed out. Went to 1st Cav at Ft. Hood after graduation. Glad to see you guys showing the Guard in a positive light.

Dope content & really informative 👌 When they talk about extra days, going into the office on request. How does that play into pay? What are justifiable reasons to go in, ie PEXs or additional duty? Lastly, what purpose does racking up days for an active duty year fulfill, aside from counting towards retirement?

Guard TACP retired. I was AD USMC and after a few years out of the military I joined Guard TACP while having a civilian career. I thought Ben's comments on AD vs Guard were what I observed also with Guard guys are there to train when they are there because that is all they do at the unit. I had a blast and deployed twice to Iraq and Afghanistan. I met great guys everywhere including my Army brothers in the Units I was aligned with. Of course there are turds everywhere too. The one thing I absolutely hated was AD prejudice toward Guard. Not all AD was prejudice but many were. I deployed with AD to augment since they were short people and they gave all of us Guard guys hell the entire deployment. Luckily most of us Guard guys were at our own Battalions and the AD were at Brigade so their affect was minimal.

LET'S GO, ANOTHER PODCAST! High quality as always gentlemen. So, when are you guys going to do a podcast on guys over 25 attending BMT > AFSPECWAR prep > A&S? Also, I listened to your podcast on how to become a faster runner but how did CMSgt. Pietras do it? I'm 5'6" and just started running again after years of being on an elliptical and assault bike. How did CMSgt. Pietras (with all due respect) accomplish the timed runs? I'm a little on the shorter side so I know if he could do it then I could too. Was it the workout that he prescribed at the end of the running podcast that enabled him to finish the runs in time? Thank you all for your service.
@OnesReady
@OnesReady 4 года назад
You're not wrong, if I can do it, anyone can! I got better at running by doing long-slow-distance runs, interval sprints on the track/street, and high intensity running. It just takes miles upon miles to get quicker at it. You're asking for an episode on the pipeline in its entirety? 🍑
@justelynnnjoelle
@justelynnnjoelle 4 года назад
@@OnesReady yes please, if that's not confidential. I've been looking at various graduating class videos (Falcon 109 for example) to get the smallest gist of what I'm to be expecting. But I'm trying to not memorize anything because everything from what you guys have said about the various AFSPECWAR pipelines are that they're extremely variable and that people just need to be open-minded.

I’m 5’5” and I got my mile time down to a 7:45. Two months ago, it was an 8:45 max effort. All I do is run, run, and more running. But be safe about it. Take rest days, and if you feel like you might be pushing it a bit, don’t be afraid to kick it back because at the end of the day, if you get injured, it’s a setback.

I greatly appreciated the podcast, my question though is on the out of state service members. The TACP stated that some travel from out of state via plane. Being from Texas, I would assume the same goes for the Reserve side of PJ (Florida, Arizona). Does the unit pay for plane ticket? Or does the unit allow week long IDT dates to make up monthly IDT dates. Therefore airmen aren't forking up hundreds of dollars every month?
@OnesReady
@OnesReady 4 года назад
He was referring to part time Guard folks at their unit. Each Guard unit is different and has different expectations of their members, so we can't really give you a solid answer that is correct across the board. Usually the member has to pay for their travel as they are the ones choosing to live elsewhere.

I imagine transitioning from AD to ANG and changing AFSCs are two separate processes. In my case, I’m AD and 3P0X1, so if I were to Palace Chase, would I have to submit a retrain package after I transition to ANG, or could I knock out both retraining and Palace Chase at the same time?

I think Guard is good for older guys with families or younger guys who want to do college/pursue civilian careers. Active Duty is good for young people with no college/civilian pursuits or want to pursue military full time . Joel Del Rosario correct, the schoolhouse is definitely a kick in the teeth as far as physical ability. I was told at the school house that you won’t run. That’s not true at all because we did sprints around the pit every morning and always time hacks. Almost every team has trouble with ruck layouts so just take the time and be patient of figuring out the best way to do it like 3 minuets or less even when your exhausted. I remember our first ruck layout we did it 35 minutes which is unacceptable but we were still figuring things out. That positive attitude kept me going and not feeling sorry for myself helped. It all comes down to how bad do you want it honestly. Even if you fail remember that a positive responsive to everything will take you a long way.

Switching services within the National Guard is not difficult! As long as you have your medical (MEDPROS) squared away and green, and you are talking with a proactive Air Guard recruiter you shouldn't have a problem. You have two routes: 1) Wait until you ETS and switch over to the guard the next day. Get all of your ducks in a row before you ETS. 2) apply for a conditional release with the DD Form 368, working through the Air Guard Recruiting team and leave the Army Guard early.

The Army one said you get promoted a lot faster here and if you wanted to do special forces ie: Green Beret, Airborne etc. You could do that. The AirNG recruiter said you can do security, special forces which is tacp but you have to score pretty high on the ASVAB and that the AirNG has better jobs that transition into the civilian world. My goal is to serve and do something awesome like special forces, but also have some skills to take into the civilian world. Anyone have any advice? I'd greatly appreciate it
