Love the bottle cap tip. LOL. On the exposed end of the air tools, after 12 years of wood dust, grinding dust, etc.... make a simple "L" piece (aluminum with magnets) that goes on the rack and covers the air let. Plenty of room to remove and replace the air took. This will help prevent dust settling into the air inlet port (it can build up after years). Yep, little things.

Tom Walter Great idea!!!!! I've thought about the dust over the years, but a simple option seemed to elude me. Thanks Tom!!!!

Do you have a video on how you made the rack? I'd love to see the construction closer up. I just got my first air compressor and would love to have a rack. Only have 2 air tools right now but looking to add more. :) Maybe think about taking it apart and making a video on how to build your own rack. Great video.

***** Thanks! Sorry...I don't have any more vid of it closer up. I thought about doing one at one point, but decided not to because the hanger pieces are re-purposed. It would be hard to find the pieces or make similar ones, than it would be to just make a different style rack. I used them because I had them laying around and I still had to modify them. The angle pieces are the legs from a bolt together metal shelf....just bolted together in a Z fashion. If you google air tool racks, there's a lot of other styles out there. I'm sure you can find one that's simpler and easier. I'll see if I can take some vid of it up close so you can see how it's put together. :) Thanks! Mike

Do you oil the same way with your 360 swivel head? The one that looks like 2 little metal cubes attached? I just got one and I’m curious
@bluehandsvideo
@bluehandsvideo 2 года назад
Yes, I do. I've never thought to do it differently. Maybe 3 drops instead of 2 since more oil will stay in the seams and there's more wall area inside the pieces.

Most people seem to laugh AT me.....is that the same thing? Every time I watch one of my older vids like this, I realize just how many times I say "umm" and "ahh". With newer vids, I try to edit most of them out.....which is why it takes so dang long to edit. :( Thanks! At times, I think I should try to add more to them and script them, but I get bored with all the fluff on other people's videos. Anyway.....Thanks! -Mike

@@bluehandsvideo eh either way it’s something you should feel good about, I’m an odd (unique) eccentric person n have been told I’m exhausting to watch but can’t turn away cause it’s like watching a show, I talk to myself as if there someone else is in the room, Idk we just do funny shit, it’s definitely a good thing. And I know what ya mean, you’re probably a perfectionist and try to make your videos perfect and through that exhaustion at some point you probably think to yourself “ya know what it’s never going to be perfect because I’m never going to be 100% satisfied, and realize at some point ya have to stop” I’m the same way. And some people like me appreciate the the rawness of things. If someone doesn’t like your video and the information your trying to teach them, if they can’t appreciate that then the hell with them. You make your videos how you want to make them, it’s a form of art, and how you finish it is your interpretation, and it’s the way it’s meant to be. Take er easy brother ✌️

@@thisismydadsphone4968 Sounds like we might be a lot alike. lol I tend to talk as if the camera is someone else watching over my shoulder. Do you do videos on another platform. RU-vid says there's no content on your channel. Quite honestly....I do a lot of the video stuff so I can refer back to it later to see what I've done. If I go back through my vids, I end up coming across ones that I completely forgot about. LOL Have fun!! -Mike

I just bought a kit today that has both the angle and a straight die grinder. Things seem to work well, but as I've never used these particular air tools before, I have to wonder if it's normal that I can hold the end with my hand and press the trigger and it doesn't try to spin out of my hand with a lot of force?? In other words, if I hold it, it tries to spin but not a lot of force. I can feel the air coming out of it as normal, however. I suspect this is normal. If I don't try to prevent it from starting up, they both spin up super fast as expected and then seem to be powerful enough to do light rust removal. Ideas? Oh... it figures too. I thought that I had some air tool oil in my shop, but either I've misplaced it or ran out and just forgot. LOL So I wonder if I can use the same oil that is used for the vacuum pump motor? The vacuum pump that is used for auto AC work. Does anyone know if it's ok to use Robinair 13203 Premium High Vacuum Pump Oil to oil the air tools? Can it be used as compressor oil as well? It's just that I have a full case of the Robinair vacuum pump oil and I'd like to get some use out of it. LOL

It might help to know what kit you bought and what air you're supplying it with. At 90psi, mine will try to spin out of my hand....but I have some cheap tools that don't have nearly the same amount of torque. My die grinders have a screw in the top of the body....it regulates how much air goes through the tool. If yours has it, you might run the tool and turn that screw to see if you're adjustment is maxed out or not.....it might not be. If I have a 3" cutoff wheel on them, I can hold that and "stall" it when I squeeze the trigger. With no tool in, I'm not sure....I'd have to try it. These days, it's pretty rare that I use any air tools other than the blow guns....I use those A LOT!! lol Air tools don't have anywhere near as much torque as electric tools. Hopefully a viewer will have an answer for you about the oil.....otherwise, google will get you better answers than I can give. Air tool oil is really cheap and lasts a long time. I run Amsoil air compressor oil in my compressor. I think I got my last bottle of air tool oil from harbor freight or home depot. It will be decades before I need to buy another bottle. lol

Actually, no, it's not. It will eat the rubber seals and o-rings. You can find air tool oil at most car parts stores.

Can I use CLP for air tools
@bluehandsvideo
@bluehandsvideo 4 года назад
Sorry for the delay. I had to look up CLP......it's gun oil? I don't have any clue. If you're using $20 HF air tools and you kill them trying it....no big deal, but I wouldn't test it on an expensive tool. Air tool oil is cheap and one bottle of it will last nearly forever since you're only putting a few drops into the tool. While looking up CLP, I came across this article on lubrication....it might have more answers. www.grantcunningham.com/2006/05/lubrication-101/

Hi, I finally got around to taking a look.....I'm sorry to say that my impact gun doesn't have a way to grease it. I also don't have the proper grease gun or attachment to do it. What make/model of impact do you have? Have you googled it for into? I googled "grease air impact wrench" and got a bunch of vids that show how to do different impacts. www.google.com/search?q=grease+air+impact+wrench&num=20&rlz=1C1MSNA_enUS613US613&source=lnms&tbm=vid&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjaubrF7dXRAhVV5GMKHamzBDIQ_AUICigD&biw=1536&bih=747

Sir, my I kindly suggest you do not set your air tools with the open fittings facing upwards. Any dust in the air over the fitting will go down there and into the tools and may wear them out prematurely. May I suggest you either close those holes when they are hung, or find the way they you would be hung or held the other way round with the nozzles facing downwards...
@bluehandsvideo
@bluehandsvideo 4 года назад
Thanks. I was originally worried about it and I probably should still be. I hardly ever use any of them anymore. I'm currently changing out all the fittings to high flow versions. They don't fit in the hangers anymore. I'm playing with ideas to change the hangers. A couple of those ideas will include some type of cover over the fitting while the tool is stored. I don't think having that having the nozzles face down is a viable option, but if you have any ideas, I'm open to checking them out. :) Mike
@hea5843
@hea5843 4 года назад
@@bluehandsvideo To be perfectly honest Mike, you'r idea is a very smart, handy and cost effective one. Easy to store, does not take up that much space, seems secure enough looking at how the hangers are curved upwards, so not too likely a tool would slip off unless it is knocked off from underneath it, can be modified... so really brilliant and cheap to build! So thank you for that! :-) The only two things I'd worry about this setup are: One I already mentioned, and two... what material those hangers are made off and if they would dig into my fittings every time I had to hang or remove a tool for use. Perhaps, if available or I can modify one, would use a material I know is softer than the material used for the fittings. As for stopping stuff from going into your tools, can be equally cheap. Anything that may serve as a cap for every fitting. Even if you make one out of silicone. To place the tools with the nozzles facing downwards will not be as cheap and space saving as yours. I'd build something out of wood to hold them, like a station... I presently only have a few pneumatics, not as many as yours, and I store them in a tool chest drawer next to each other, safe from the elements. If I get more, I may steel your idea. :-) Cheers! Houssam
@bluehandsvideo
@bluehandsvideo 4 года назад
@@hea5843 Thanks :) If I only had a few, they'd probably be in a drawer, too. I needed to hold a bunch and hanging them like that basically gained me some space out of...literally......thin air. lol I think all the fittings on the tools are steel....a few brass.....so no real worry about them wearing out. The new ones are aluminum, so, now that you've mentioned it, I'll have to keep that in mind when designing the new hangers. Although, I rarely use them anymore, so I don't know that they'll get much actual wear on them. Thanks! :) Mike
