I forgot to add that I really appreciate how you help people with airbrushing I taught for about 15 years and I use plenty of the same techniques you do and I really really like Drew Blair he's part of the reason I got into airbrushing and I wanted to learn how to do that realism and I work very hard at it for a lot of years I don't wear brush as much today as I used to but I still do airbrush I do traditional painting and graphite art and all that kind of stuff

Man U have some serious skill buddy.and I just recently got into airbrushing in last month or so and I’ve fell in love with it, I am no where near good yet but I’m learning. And your vids have helped a lot and I have searched RU-vid for tutorials and urs are by far the best! I used to oil paint and have done a lot of rattle can spray painting. And love to draw and I was intimidated of airbrushing bc I hate sucking at anything and I knew I would suck for a while. But practice makes perfect and your vids have helped me tremendously so thanks again

Yesterday i watched a film about fitting a 0.5 needdle nozzle and Cap after removing the existing 0.3 needle and nozzle as the threads are different thats the reason for also changing the nozzle cap. The video is one of many put out for years by two well known English contributors. Besides using the more expensive airbrushes they became big fans of the Veda brushes and as they wanted the modded brush to spray wider coats of primer and clearcoat the guy explained pros and cons of the Iawata V the Veda 180 and 186 apparently they found you can run the Veda models at a much higher pressure and after long term use they can take it without failing. Apparently the Iawata brush isn't suited to running at the higher pressure and run better at a lower pressure. Anway the mod worked great and it solved the problem of not being able to achieve a high gloss finish when trying to paint larger areas. After the mod a fan twice as wide was achieved and more importantly a great gloss finish over a wide area. Without the contributions from yourself and many others it would be much harder to choose the right brush to suit your needs as a beginner. Because the contributor had so many brushes covering different price ranges he demonstrated that for this particular application the much cheaper Veda 186 with 3 sizes of pots was the better brush to use, in another situation he would use the Iawata. Many new to the hobby might be tempted to always go for the more expensive option but because some are willing to pass on knowledge learnt over years as well as pros and cons of different makes of brushes and price ranges. As a contributor you are helping me learn to become a better painter and i as well as many appreciate the time you take to help others. Thank you.

Hi there I have an airbrush similar to yours. When I push down on the trigger button it sprays paint instantly instead of pushing down and activating the spray as I pull back gradually The more you pull back the more paint sprays out Is that supposed to happen? REGARDS RICHARD
@AirbrushAsylum
@AirbrushAsylum 5 лет назад
Thanks for your comment , paint shouldn’t be coming out when you just press for air. I would suggest giving it a thorough clean as there most likely is some dried paint stuck in your fluid nozzle, therefore not allowing the needle to seat and resulting in paint escaping when you press down for air. Hope that helps 👌🏻

just a curious question that most of us would ask as a beginner, with the dual action pre-setting air regulator no problem, at the trigger to push down for the air, do you fully press at it down when doing you lines? meaning is the button fully depressed at all times even when fines lines to broader lines?
@AirbrushAsylum

Yes, press the trigger down all the way and keep it pressed and adjust your lines by how far you pull back on the trigger as well as how close you are and the speed at which you are moving 👍🏼

New subscriber! I hung up my airbrushes about 25 years ago, used to do illustration work.... Recently taken up landscape painting In oils, which used to fill me with dread... "what?..six months to dry?!?!" But now there are fast drying oils, so I'm at last giving it a try. So, my question is - I'm working on a picture With a backlit dewy spiders web, all hand brushed, but can I use an airbrush With white oil paint to add a very fine halo around each water drop?... Can modern airbrushes cope with oil Paint without the "o" rings dissolving From the solvents? (I would probably Be using Bob Ross odourless paint thinner) Also, I'm amazed how cheap airbrushes start at now... are they worth a shot while I re acquaint myself with all this? Thanks, this looks like a great channel!

I'd really appreciate some help. It seems like when I push my needle back into position to stop the paint, I get a dot formed on my line. I'm not getting dog bones, but there is a dot at the end of the line when I return the needle to the initial position. What is the problem in the situation and how can I resolve it?

Hey mate thanks for your comment and kind words, it may be your airbrush...meaning that it’s a different brand that won’t allow you to remove the needle cap, some brands want you to buy a special ‘paint picker cap’ in order to be able to use it with the air cap removed...maybe ask your airbrush manufacturer / retailer 👍🏻

great video - althgouh i've been using airbrush for 40 years, and many times a ineeded fine, sharp lines and never been able to get them for long! Now I realized the secret is holding it exactly the same distance all the time, but now here's a problem, I am always painting scale models and they all have a rough surface, HOW do i slide and hold the airbrush a uniform distance from the surface? Maybe that's why I still have this problem after 40 years...
@AirbrushAsylum
@AirbrushAsylum 4 года назад
Thanks for your comment , and yes it’s more difficult when moving on a rough surface , gloves could help slightly but all in all keeping my distance consistent I tend to lock my elbows and perform the movement almost ‘robotically’ to best perform the stroke consistently, hope that helps 👍🏻

I do model tanks and aircraft - after years of using enamels - I discovered acrylics. Compared to the mess, smell and expense of enamels, acrylics are usually light years better. You can use alcohol for thinning and clean up (vs smelly and toxic acetone or similar for enamels). Also many of the acrylics are pretty much ready for spraying right out of the bottle, not much thinning needed. And compared to enamels, you get any number of do-overs - the coverage of acrylics (thickness) is a lot less. You can do any number of coats (10 or more) if you want to before you would have any need to strip off the paint and start over. At worst you shoot on a primer coat over the old paint and start again.
