Procedures concerning weather radar check are outlined in FCOM 03.03.10. The latter states:

lf radar is required for the flight, use the following test procedure : Adjust the tilt downward until ground returns appear and then slowly adjust it in 1 to 2 degree steps up to 15° UP for weather returns. Select tilt at 4° UP for takeoff.

Please also consider safety hazard to ground crew. Ensure that staff personnel has cleared the area around the aircraft. Keep in mind that the Radar emissions will make each person a safe candidate for cancer and oncology, that is closer than 5 Meters. Keep this also in mind during Taxi-Ín and Taxi-Out.
On a procedural matter, various settings have to be adjusted in order to perform the Weather Radar Check.
1. Turn ON the Weather Radar.
3. Turn the Weather Radar Mode to WX/TURB.
3. Turn the Weather Radar Multiscan Mode to MANUAL.
4. Turn OFF the Ground Clutter System.
5. Rotate the Weather Radar Tilt downward until you can see the first ground reflections on the ND.
6. Rotate the Weather Radar Tilt upward until the first reflections of Precipations indicated on the ND (if available)
7. Finally set the Weather Radar Tilt to Take Off Config.
8. Set Ground Clutter System to AUTO
9. Set Weather Radar Tilt to 3-4°
10. Turn ON PWS
