European planemaker Airbus is one half of the duopoly that dominates commercial aviation - the other company, of course, being American manufacturer Boeing. For those working in the industry, or have years of experience being planespotters and avgeeks, identifying commercial aircraft can come quite easily. This is definitely not the case for others, who might need a little guidance on how to identify and make distinctions between various types. Today, we’re going to go over Airbus’ commercial passenger jets and how you’ll be able to identify each one. So let’s get started…

For the A340, you can identify them by the engine size similar to the A320. And also, the middle landing gear of the -200 and -300 is only a single pair of wheels while the -500 and -600 have two pairs.

Thank you Long Haul for this presentation. It's informative without being condescending. Also, kudos for including the A220 family. Those are transitioning from rarity to common sights at airports.

if saw from a far, it's slightly hard to differ; ~ A300 & A330-200 ~ A318 & A319 While the rest has notable appearance

For the a350's i just look at the unique cockpit windows, and also the 1000 is the longer one of the family.

Caveat, Easyjet A319's have double overwing exit windows per side to comply with their exit limit. It looks like a shorter A320

4:00 that's where you're wrong. The easiest way to tell them apart in my opinion is the A318's taller vertical stabilizer.

I love modern Airplanes and I guess for me it comes naturally even when in flight and I might be able to tell which version of that aircraft too. I do have another tip to differentiate the A310 and A320, the front landing gear of the A310 is straight at a 90° angle the A320 not that straight, kind of looks slightly at angled maybe 85° at least from the side profile. Though can be tricky at times but still there are also other features that distinguish the pair.

Yes I like this video so much. For me, i only look at the length, the shape of the wings, the sound, how many, and the type of the engines, and the characteristics. For the Airbus A380 is very easy to recognize by many people but the types of the engines, the sound, and the type variant number is very different and that makes it pretty difficult but that is pretty easy for me. There are 3 variant of this superjumbo. Let me show you this one : A380-841 = Rolls Royce Trent 970-84/B A380-842 = Rolls Royce Trent 972-84/B A380-861 = Engine Alliance GP7200

I disagree with having to differentiate between the A320ceo & neo by winglets. Some A320ceos do have the long sharklets in the A320neo, known as the 'A320E' (Enhanced).
@gpierre90
@gpierre90 2 года назад
Very true, but the narrator also said that they were newer, but something tells me that an airline can opt to upgrade their older A320 with sharklets, kind of like what Ethiopian Airlines did to their B737 aircraft which made them appear like the B737 Max. Case in point check out Reg ET-ALK from Ethiopian Airlines as an example

All Airbus jets also have an APU (Auxiliary Power Unit) that is rounded and tube like in shape that sticks out straight from the aft fuselage area… Even the A220 sports this east identification feature…

Airbus seems to have pulled models out of the hat a lot quicker than their US counterpart. 220, 321 and 350 all admired whilst over the Atlantic the 787 and 777X - (not to mention 737 Max ) jets are bogged down in red tape

How do you identify a bombardier c series to an A220
@ryeb_
@ryeb_ 2 года назад
They are the same aircraft- Bombardier had the CS-100 and the CS-300. However, Bombardier sold the C-series programme to Airbus, and Airbus renamed the two aircraft to the A220-100 and the A220-300.

@ahmedmotala7282

The A34 number defines the aircraft type - meaning A340 series. While the 3 defines the airline that ordered the aircraft, sometimes airlines have a particular specification from the manufacturer.
