Watch me marshall a Cargolux Boeing 747-400 Freighter into its parking stand at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport ( KORD /ORD ).
I'm standing on top of a set of airstairs because the flight crew wouldn't be able to see me if I were standing on level ground between the aircraft and the warehouse behind me.
The aircraft in this video is LX-SCV, manufacturer's serial number ( MSN ) 29733 & line number ( ln ) 1281. This airframe is 21.5 years old at the time of this upload and has been in service with Cargolux since its delivery in a cargo freighter configuration in August of 2001. For a short period between July 2018 and July 2021, this aircraft was in service with Cargolux Italia - the reason for that being that Cargolux has many customers in Italy, but Italian law wouldn't allow them to operate in/out of the Mediterranean nation as a foreign company, so Cargolux Italia was created as a foreign venture of the Luxembourg-based parent airline.
Thank you all for watching, and I hope that you enjoyed the video!

I like it too. It seems like a fun job to have. Guiding in planes almost all day, and guiding them out to their destination

@@AeronBencito Good morning to you too! How are you doing and if you‘re contacting me here, are you one if these Marshallers? Unfortunately as a passenger one doesn’t really get to see them in action!

@@AeronBencito Thank you for your message! I did answer at the time but got no further reply from you! Was this because I didn’t tell you what I was having for breakfast? 😂

That's a cool perspective! May I feature this marshalling sequence in one of my next episodes? Of course with the link back, as usual :) All the best to you!

He's my guide man so I can stop the plane at the correct spot, but from an elevated position, I don't really need him. I usually glance down at whoever is doing that at the very last second, but I only need the guide man when I'm down on the ground and can't see the stop mark.

I've got plenty, lol - I don't think people want to see just marshalling videos, though - they're all essentially the same. So I'll drop one here and there. Thanks for watching!

They're in my ears, I push them in pretty far, though. I cut the cable to about a ¼" remaining on each plug and I shove them into my ears. Gotta save what little hearing I have left.

The cone is just too close to engine No. 2

I see one in front of each of the 4 engines. I don't know the procedures, but this makes me think it's normal and safe, the engines are idling at this stage.
@ChicagoAirportSpotter
@ChicagoAirportSpotter Год назад
Just looks like it, but it's far enough away from the engine that it doesn't pose a risk with the engines running at idle on arrival to the gate. We usually have "safety envelope" ground markings painted on the ramp, but I think they've faded on this gate - if not, they may have never been applied.
@Themogalskier

When a commercial airliner is taxiing it is mandatory to shut the left engine off and that is the side we’re the cone was
