Airfix Retro Unboxing: Dinosaurs! (2005) 

"Should we bring back dinosaur models?" - the answer is always and forever a resounding YES!!!!! ... maybe with updated molds, but even without, I'd build them! After all, Tamiya *did* just re-release their Pteradon this year and it's an older style of our understanding of the animal's physiology.

While elements might be out of date, this kit would be perfect for younger kids. It looks relatively easy to assemble, and the bigger parts are a good way to learn how to paint.

I made this in the 80s. I seem to remember swapping left and right legs!

I actually built an original release Triceratops this month. The box actually has a copyright year of 1976 rather than 1977 on it suggesting that is when the tooling was actually made. I painted it in a blueish grey with darker stripes. A dark wash really highlighted all of the detail on the kit. It's not something I'd normally do but it was an enjoyable kit to build.

Bring this kit back as a Vintage please!

I agree with other comments you should fetch this range back. I think it would go down well with the younger generation of modellers I know my nephew would like it he's seven years old and mad on dinosaurs. I also built the stegosaurus back in 1980 myself.

Got those dinosaurs in 1979, with glorious vintage painted art boxes. Still got them, with parts missing, broken, but they were so much fun to build that I'll never even consider an option to get rid of these old plastic bad painted pieces. :D

Cheeky! The box art doesn't look at all like the moulded parts. The sprues have some 1920's vibe going on and the Tyrannosaur isn't big enough 😊

I like the subject. Dinosaurs make a nice change from aircraft and vehicles. I have got the Tamiya dinosaur diorama sets they are very good. I think that easy build starter sets are the way to go

I had the Airfix Pteranodon, Brontosaurus and Dimetrodon kits.

There needs to be a release of the figures and birds range again.

We are as far apart in time from the T-rex as it was from the Stegosaurus.

These old model kit reviews are grand. I am surprised that more coverage of the early type packaging from Airfix isn't available. I collect the Blue Edged Box versions of the HO/OO range of figures. (I have a number of white edition boxes too). The Box Art was a powerful motivator for children to buy these little soldiers. Many of my Boxes have never been opened and are in Mint condition. Airfix is an extremely attractive brand.

They live in the very hot life of North America? Wha? Did they have drive-by T-Rexxings, too? Lol...😂 I see the volume was turned off on us who want the 1/76 miniature figures.

So out of date. lol Palaeontology has come on a long way since these were produced. Airfix should make some dinosaurs to modern research standards. They should come packed in baked earth which you have to scrape away with a trowel to get to the parts. Please do a parasaurolophus! 🙏🙏

Lets be honest, these were pretty poor when compared to the Aurora Prehistoric Scenes models of the early 70s and could explain why Airfix sticks to planes and military vehicles today.....
