I am really struggling to find any information about shooting air rifles (higher than 500 FPS) in Canada (Saskatchewan specifically). I am interested in buying a GAMO air rifle with over 1000 FPS velocity....Just can't figure out where to shoot it. I want to hit targets (my own targets and not at the range). Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!
if its over 500 fps you have to have your pal to buy them and shoot them canadain law is very clear and any place in canada you call that sells over 500 fps airguns will tell you and ask for your pal to buy any airgun over 500 fps, for shooting pal and non pal airguns well if you live in the country like i do most places in the country dont care your back yard with a backstop is fine as for city limits places no airguns are allowed to be shot in city limts reguardless of speed unless your at an approved range but then again you do have to check your local city bylaws as well. city or country rules
That is exactly why I don't want a Pal, and the fact that you can't shoot firearms ANYWHERE save for an approved firing range or hunting territory with a license, is a pain, but understandable .But all I want to do is collect replicas and target shoot and plink. Owning a Pal can basically be a burden. You have to ask for a permit every time you move. It takes up to 8 months to get it. On top of that, this new PAL was partly created to gather information on gun owners, and I don't trust my gov. with that info. So I like shooting, I love the engineering behind these replicas and I enjoy the sport. So I set-up a nice 30 ft range in my basement and that was that. One of the bummers of not having a PAL, is that all PCP guns shoot over 500 fps. So no PCP.
per haps but we are not liminted to calaber only to speed , so if i have a 50 call rifle that is airpowered and it produces 100 fpe then yes its leagle without a licence and those kind of airguns are real as well.
Hello, I have been using a Baikal .177 break barrel rifle successfully in my yard to deal with a magpie pest problem.. but the piston seal (I think it was leather) has deteriorated and it no longer works well. I don't know where to get parts or dissassemble my AZH38, and prefer to shop non-internet. do you have a suggestion for an inexpensive below 500 fps brake barrel for magpies? Thank you for your time. I will be using the domed corssman pellets.
Just found out about bill C-21 that came out 4 days ago. This is a proposal that would outlaw all airguns, airsoft, paint ball guns, etc. What it says basically is that if an airgun is a close replica of a real firearm, it's illegal, no matter what velocity it shoots at. They mostly are all replicas. They would let you keep your existing collection if they don't see it. Your guns could be seized at any point and destroyed legally. No selling or buying would be legal. How about ammo ? CO2 ? I think your viewers would be interested in your opinion on this. I know I would. Hope you're OK and looking forward to your next vid. Pete from Montreal :-)
they need to stick with the problems of real guns and leave people alone with the only fun they have left under the liberals. only a few times airguns ever cause problems. sometimes i think i live in russia or the middle east.
So in Canada a non licensed airgun has to be restricted to below 500 fps but there is no stated weight of the projectile which means a Canadian can own a .50 cal air rifle capable of serious damage. In other words your guns aren't measured by energy. An odd scenario to say the least. Here in the UK we are not restricted by velocity per se, nor are we limited by calibre but energy is restricted to no more than 12 ft lbs. I think our laws no matter how draconian they seem are far more sensible than a country who regulates just velocity.
its getting worse in the USA as well how ever i get why they do what they do w ith airguns even tho its stupid as hell and i dont totally agree with it all but we do get other advantages that the USA does not get to and out crime tho we have it is far far far less then the USA
So by law it'd be okay to load up a paintball hopper with marbles or ball bearings, but if I put an alloy pellet in an air rifle, making far less energy than a lead pellet, and that's criminal. So smart.
I am glad to have found your channel, you seem to have a great range of experience with air pistols. I have a problem with a Tau-7, it may be a product you know of? My problem is that it is a fine pistol in 177 cal from memory, shoots 490 all day long, or did until I machined a 22 cal barrel for it, from memory 11 inch barrel. It shoots great but speed in 22 is down at 430 feet per sec, I already have the hammer spring screwed to max for power, I was trying to think of some way to gain about 65 feet per second more. I thought maybe adding a little weight to the striker/hammer to bring my speed up a touch. Do you think that will get me the results i am looking for?
@@KevinMillard68 Transfer port? well the port through the frame is a good 1/8 inch diameter already, I thought it sufficient but I guess I could try that. I am using the standard .22 14.3 gr crosman pellets.
@@KevinMillard68 I got around to drilling out the transfer port this afternoon as you advised. I can't say by how much as I just found a random drill bit a little bigger than the hole. I fired off a co2 tank this evening. Right away I noticed more power, gongs ringing harder, and one swinging like it never had before. As luck would have it my crono battery was dead so I can't say where I am at speed wise I am guessing 25-30 ftpersec more I will know when I can get into the city and pick up a new 9 volt for the crony.
@@KevinMillard68 I was able to crony my TAU and with the drilled out port I am hitting at the top end 480 and dropping to the 470ish near the end of the tank, I think I will leave it right there, I am happy with that, thanks.
just get a pal. then you can have all those and even better ose. but if it's under 500 fps it's not considered a firearm in Canada. But if you use it for a crime then it will be classified as a firearm in court. i bet you didn't know i can carry a katana around canada. it's considered a bladed tool untill used as a weapon. also if you try to conceal it it's bad. I walk around toronto with a crocodile Dundee knife on my belt never had problems even had cops tell me that's nice knife.
ya i know all about being able to carry a sword in public you have no idea what i know apparently but thats ok anyhow as for the pal screw that junk more problems then its worth and most pal rated airguns are also made in non pal so either way i win
It's a weird contradiction but ALL THREE of my Hatsan rifles actually perform BETTER than advertised...especially my .25 Vectis lever-action which is a crazy 20% higher in velocity.
I do have a Siq Sauer MCX Rifle but its on a shelf in my closet i have rifles now in the corners of the walls out of space to hang them up lol same as all my pistols are no in the closet on a shelf
Very informative !!! I just have one question what about small game hunting and what can you hunt legally with non pal version I just got Benjamin Classic .22 I like it from your videos and would like to try some small game.
@@sweetsour3935 The only air rifles that are powerful enough to kill rabbits and don't require a PAL in Canada are 450 fps + .22 cal pellets. So generally, most .22 cal break-barrel rifles will do the job.
you contradict yourself a lot, if it’s under 500 fps it is legal no matter what mods you do just keep it under 500😂, the pedersoli is a derringer’s that used primer cap and a 17 pellet and even that is legal
we are talking about airguns not bullets also as long as your speed is with in the 500 fps andno over then yes its leagle, canada as some pretty messed up wirtting on the laws how ever once you study themclose enough you will know the laws and so long as you are with in the non pal regulations yours good to go but we are takling about airguns how ever on the other side of the fence there are specific fireams that we can also have that we can have with out a licence as well that are not non pal speed rated do the research to find all the ins and outs of the laws so no i never contradicted my self at all.
If I remember right about the same time this video was made in Canada there was a guy modify air guns in to actual guns and selling them on the black market in Canada for a big profit of money and did it for a couple of years in till he got sloppy and his skin got cut on a slide and some one got bust with the fire arm with no numbers on it but had DNA found and they ended up catching the guy but they said he had probably made over 2000 fire arms out of store air guns you can buy any were and just ordered parts off the shelf. I wouldn't think there would be enough for profit but the numbers they showed it was a lot of money they must be way over priced in Canada for any thing because I could buy 3 guns legally in the USA then one that not legal in Canada ouch 😂 here a gun that not legal is dirt cheap no one wants it 100$ wouldn't touch it if my life depended on it. Who knows we're it's been but cheap. so it was mind blowing to see what they would pay in Canada. 500-1000$ This was a good lesson on what's legal in Canada and why you would love the USA with zero regulated air gun rules beside some hunting and caliber size for some animals. you can own anything air gun no matter the power but if needed a part from Canada watch out shopping cost more than the part most of the time no joke 75$ ouch shipping not cheap but the lady's from there price less lol just give Canada a hard time no offense have a great one till the next one. Rc air guns and other Hobby's for life. 🎯💯👍✌️👌⚒️🍻 You do have good videos 💪💯
yAreou on drugs get off them or share with us LOL .. no one said they are banned we can still get all the airguns we want over 500 fps so long as we have a firearams licence for them , anything rated under 500 fps we can have without a licence, one of the advantages we have tho over alot of other countrys is if say we have an airgun that under 500 fps we can have all the energy we want so if we buy a 50 cal or larger cal that is going to produce a shit can of energy for sure at under 500 fps so what we lack in speed for the non licence model we kae up for in being able to have a cal we want whihc can produce very leatheal results.. now they have tried to bann alot of our airguns expecially replicas and thus far have failed to do so thankfully i love my replica stuff as well as the non replicas as well.
@@KevinMillard68 well I do smoke weed thanks Canada. Lol but thank you for your input I do understand what you are saying but why does USA have a 1300fps black cub that you can purchase without a PAL or there country's equivalent...and we have a Beeman 495fps...... I did go for my PAL so should have it soon. but really wish we didn't need all these laws and licenses on pellet guns. I'd love to own a 1300fps break barrel rifle but I guess my 495 fps will surely do. My dream is to see our gun laws match USA guns laws one day.... so much more freedom and power they have while we beg at the hands of mercy to our Lord and savior Justin Trudeau to spare the hunters and Revoke Bill C 21
@@KevinMillard68 Most shootings are illegal firearms. I'm in Toronto. Did you see the news lately? The recent shootings? The laws don't seem to be working. We don't have the same numbers as the states as far as gun violence/homicides, but that's because we have a much smaller population.
i dont know the quebec laws i live in ontario, ontario and the rest of canada follow the same but quebec seperates them self from the rest of us so your rules will have difference's from ours
probley not a problem as long as its still shooting bbs then id say your fine and it still has to stay under 500 fps as well ihave done tons of mods to airguns and as long as they stay under 500 fps i can make them look how ever i want and i can also change the cal and energy output to what ever i want as long as they are under 500 fps and they are still shooting bbs or pellets and the power plants are still airgun power plants only.. its really not a confusing law when it comes to airguns and what you can and cant do to them
Great video. Exact info I was looking for. I don't own a PAL, I just moved to Yukon 7 years ago from UK. Anyway I have a few acres and fancy something to shoot with. COVID has canceled all but some of our PAL courses. Quicker and easier just to get a airgun but any suggestions? I'm looking for something, Fun to shoot Easy maintenance And is it legal to shoot squirrels if they are on your property?.... Just asking for a friend 🙄
youll have to check the rule where you are with pest control as its called , as for low maintence guns springer and nitro guns are the cheapest with very little maintence as to what you should get well i dont know what the sell for models of guns where you are so hard to say really how ever pest control and plinking i prefer .22 cal to get the job done properly
Depends, are you downtown Montreal or on a large farm ? In reality, most provinces and municipalities have their own rules considering air-guns. Mostly, if now one sees you or hears you, no problem. Proximity to others is the main variable here.
not yet we didnt and i personaly only buy pellet guns and i can still get all the rifiles and pistols i want never paty atterntion to main stream media loads of misinformation out there.
@@KevinMillard68 just make sure you do not freely choose to own any pellet gun that shoots over 152.5 M Per Second or your Marxist Government will fine or jail you for owning a FIREARM ! Insane Political Control of People's Rights !
good stuff once you get one youll want more and more and more guns i know im back full swing just got a new gun yesterday and ordered one online 3 days ago and i got more gun stuff in the mail comming as well
