Excellent review. I really appreciate the honesty of your channel. Unlike the commercial stories of others that are just selling the helmet. You simply tell the truth. Thanks
@@Championhelmets I think it is as you say, good value for the price, but not really my cup of tea. I appreciate the more high quality modular helmets like the Schuberth C4 Pro and the Shoei Neotec 2.
One point you seem to miss is that there is no ratchet on the visor, on cold damp mornings you can't crack it open to help with de-misting, it's either fully closed or fully open and if it does mist up in cold damp weather or rain the only option is to ride with the visor open. I have a screen on my bike but it still not fun to ride in the rain with the visor fully open. I am now looking to replace it for that reason. I like it apart from that but I wouldn't buy another helmet without an adjustable visor.
Hi John, thank you for your helpful feedback and sharing your experience with the Airoh Rev 19 helmet. Do you already have any idea of what helmet you will replace it with?
Hey, I love my Airoh modula helmet....I wear glasses so a modula helmet is so much easier to put on and take off. I tried on the shark modula helmet and broke my glasses, the arm broke off and it didn’t seem to accomodate my glasses as well as this one. I so agree it’s a bit noisey and my back vent does not open like it should but hey look...this is an awesome helmet for the price especially for those of us who wear glasses.
Hi Tania, great to hear you're enjoying your Airoh! Often glasses are one of the main reasons to go for a modular helmet, besides the touring convenience. Fitting glasses can prove quite a challenge even with modular helmets and it can also depend on the types of frames you're using, but if it fits, then that's already a good sign. Thanks for sharing your experience, we appreciate it! How have you found the Airoh for ventilation?
I don’t have enough helmet experience to comment on ventilation, I have nothing to compare it to. However, was wondering if there are any suggestions on getting the back flap up as it does not open with the top air vent.
@@taniamichellemurphy2588 Airoh decided to kept the back flap closed on the Rev19. So only the previous model (Rev 2018) can open the back flap. Hope this help.
I think you missed that the top ventilation slider opens another vent in the rear in its third position via the external flap. Has more air flow than any of my other helmets.
Thanks for letting us know! When we took the helmet out on the road, we also found it performed very well for ventilation since it showed no difference to the outside. Besides ventilation, what are your thoughts on the Airoh helmet?
@@Championhelmets Jury is still out. The best feature is the full rotation on the chin piece, but not sure about the quality of the finish on the liner and don't like that the visor is either fully up or down and can't be locked in any intermediate positions.
Hey there, good to hear that we helped you save some money! Frankly, we were also surprised with how this helmet did when we took it out on the road. What helmets are you looking at now?
@@Championhelmets having only 2 position for the transparent visor make me doubt about it the button for the transparent visor is really no sense ! Airoh-LS2- Shark are making similar model like the one in the review I think the LS2 should be better but is like a lottery, I just spent more than 200€ for a NOLAN N70 2GT (plastic) and for what I got it shouldn't be more than 70€ helmet ! I got a LS2 CABRIO (fiber) very comfortable and well built for 67€ and the value should be 150€ !!!
Congratulations for your review. Let me help a little after 1 and half years of use. Although i use it gently, it is noisy and there was a serious problem with the visor which almost automatically went of, 2 in 10 times i tried to open the front part of the helmet. The two red buttons are almost useless and get stuck all the time.... Sorry airoh, this is not product i would suggest...... Price was the bate, but the" fish " was not worth it....
Thanks for telling us your experience with this helmet, it's always great to hear! It sounds like your experience confirmed some of our conclusions in terms of the helmet's weaknesses. Is there a modular helmet you're thinking of going for next?
@@Championhelmets For the time being no.....i would avoid the purchase of a modular helmet for the future, since it seems that most of them suffer on the "noise" issue and some (in rare cases fortunately) on the articulation mechanisms of the flip up part of the helmet. Weight of modular helmets is also a contradiction for me....thank you.
Hi Maro, the best 180 flip up helmet that we've road tested so far is the Shark Evo One 2. Unfortunately, we haven't had much experience with the more technology focused helmets that you referenced, but you can see how the Shark helmet does on the road here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1gmdlc6R_kM.html. What's your opinion of the Rev 19?
We're currently working on updating our website. But, if you send us an email at info@championhelmets.com with the helmet model, size, and color, then we'll be happy to make an order for you. If you find you have any further questions, then we're always happy to help
Sorry the Helm ist not NOISY ! Less than both Shark Helmet i have tested on my naked Bikes, BMW K 1300 R and Monster 1000 S2R. But its not possible to open the Visor some mm you have to open it complete or not. The Shark EVO 2 has that Feature, and Air comes in the Front and at the Top more than the Airoh does. You have never driven that Helm on a Bike !
Hi, I can't speak for your experiences, only for ours but we found that it wasn't that quiet. Our beep test helped to confirm that result for us. It can be that some helmets are better than others but this was just our experience. Do you prefer the Airoh over the Shark Evo One 2?
S. Werner A lot of people say that the helmet is noisy but you don't find that it's noisy. The reason you don't find it noisy is because you are riding a BMW which undoubtedly has a windshield. I own a BMW R1100RT and I can hold a conversation with my passenger at 60 miles per hour on an interstate highway without a helmet on. If all of these people want a noiseless ride then they should get a BMW Motorcycle.
HELLO both Helmets are not in my Stock i have 10 Helmets for my Bikes for Road and Race I will test the new Scorpion exo tech next time. IF I take some of them i will take the Airoh all shark are to noisy and the Modell 3 not solide opening ore closing is bad.
@@Championhelmets No no, the one that is at the back (even with the chin closed). It can be opened for additional ventilation as far as I know. Can you confirm?
Oh the ventilation. Yeah it does open with that slider and thanks for pointing it out. That is something that got missed in the review. Its a nice little feature and can be handy in situations. Honestly, there isn't much more to it than that
@@Championhelmets Yeah that's what i meant :D You kinda bashed the helmet for having poor ventilation but omitted that :D Great review tho :) Any chance you can do a review of a Nox helmet?
Unfortunately, we found that the Rev19 did have quite a low value for money offering when we took it out on our data driven road test with 26 Euros per star. Though the 180 degree flip up option does add a nice additional layer of convenience. Thanks for the comment! How did you find the helmet's performance on the road?
Thanks for the suggestion! We've since stopped measuring the helmet's noise level with the beep test in favor of measuring the helmet on the road. We've done this to provide our reviews with a factual basis. So, multiple helmets can still be fairly compared by consistently using the same bike and controlling testing conditions.
