I have owned the AirPods 2nd gen for about a week now (got it last week from Best Buy for $139) and I started to notice today that the hinge was loose every time I opened it since it would close really easy if I tilted it even slightly. And it also makes that clicking noise when I press it on the sides so I’m guessing it’s normal like everyone else and it’s just poor manufacturing. Kinda sad that they can’t have a sturdier case for the price of it.

that's weird, I've had mine for a little over a year now, and I swear the little top of the case was rigid as it should be, I got to send them to service, once because they had to keep them to exchange the little rubber caps, and the second time because they had an annoying static noise and they just replaced both the AirPods, but not the charging case, and I've always had them with a very good nomad case, but then again. I just noticed this and I wanna take them to service lol

I had the same with my first pair. I also had a lot of connection problems so i have had them replaced, second pair does wobble as well but less then the first pair.

This exact thing happened to me. The first one wobbled more and the AirPod wouldn’t charge at all at times. The second pair is good so far but I probably got older stock, don’t have the spatial audio firmware installed and it’s a pain to wait.

I thought my only problem with the Left-and sometimes Right-ear disconnecting, or opening case after all-night charging and battery power is 100/5 with the jumping red exclamation mark (it’s the right, now the left, now the right!). But now I see that the top does slightly shift from side to side. I keep it in a sturdy case, but I’m very disappointed with this roll-out. Thank heavens my 1’s and 2’s are still working perfectly. I have to carry one set with me as a backup. Come on Apple, get it together!

Noticed the same thing while unboxing my air pros, now my left the left bud has developed a rattle while using transparency and noise canceling modes. So disappointing, especially since my original AirPods were so durable. I’ve used solely Apple products since purchasing the iPhone 1, going forward I’m seriously considering other options for future purchases.

If the airpods pros are manufactured before October 2020, you should be able to exchange them for free before October 2022, without apple care or anything.

Mine does the same thing fresh out the box. Thought I opened them wrong at first and caused it to wobble like so. I guess we all have similar problem. I thought my ocd was kicking in... now one problem i have is the AirPods disconnecting when I’m not paying music. I use them while working out, and when I’m not playing anything, they disconnect

I noticed that too after I unboxed them, but I just went to grab my airpods a minute ago and it’s not doing the rocking thing anymore. It also has a lot more resistance when I open it, so I guess the rocking thing is what you get in exchange for a snappy feeling lid with the pros!

I have a silicon case on mine and it does fix it. I don’t know why they standard AirPods don’t have this problem. I still do love my AirPod pros. I keep them on my keychain

Notice the same yesterday with my new AirPods Pro 2. I had an incident with my new case and the guys at Apple Store had to help med remove it by force. Pull it out with force by grabbing the lid - it is stronger than you think. Metal behind the plastic. When I came home I noticed this thing. I wiggles and clicks slightly. But once the lid is open it doesn't move. I just think that this is expected from the wear and tear. Another thing to expect from having a case is that it will affect the hinge mechanism by adding weight. So it will feel different when opening.

It looks like it will eventually happen to the case. I’ve had my AirPods for about 4 days and the case was good, the hinge looked like a solid piece of metal. Now the different parts are noticeable after I dropped them from about 4 feet onto carpet. I panicked and looked for answers and almost went to Apple support to get a replacement.

I bought mine when they first came out, yesterday I noticed when I opened them in my protective they were opening weirdly and the case top kept slipping off of the lid of the airpods case, I thought it was just the case I used so I bought a second airpods pro protective case and had the same issue occur, then i realized that the airpods pro case lid was really wobbly and it was really odd

This isn’t even the biggest issue. The biggest issue is the degradation of NC with newer software updates and the reduced bass from AirPods 1/2. Also if you didn’t notice, the hinge on the AirPods 1/2 scales 80% of the length of the case. AirPods pro, the hinge only scales 50% of the length, ofc it’s going to move more. My AirPods pro does wobble as well but only when it’s closed, when it’s open, it’s stiff as a board. If apple made the hinge a tad longer, it’d eliminate the closed woddle you’re freaking out about. Tbh im more concerned that the AirPods pro focuses more on treble than bass, which is the complete opposite for the fiat and second gen.

dude my airpods pro, this only happens sometimes (rare). When I’m listening to music for some random reason it will slow down for like 3 seconds with like a demonic voice. It’s scares the crap outta me and idk if it’s just me starting recording to on Snapchat or my AirPod are just broke. That won’t really be a surprise cuz I drop mine A LOT. Lmao

there is s design difference with the 1st and 2nd gen AirPods. If you look closely, there is a lip in the case. It stops the lid from moving side to side. compared to the AirPods Pro it is flat and has area to move.

I don’t really care about that, the only thing that I hate is when I change the mode to ANC or Transparency, they sometimes make a static noise and fail but when I switch them again, it’ll work.
