AirPulse A80 + Edifier T5 subwoofer vs Edifier S360DB || Sound Comparison 

Digital Stereophony, Could you compare these two systems in 2.0 mode, without the subwoofer part? Imho, it will be more interesting and objective.

It's also more expensive than the entire S360DB twice the price plus add another 150€ for the T5 sub.

Same here, I got A80+T5🤣🤣very happy with it~

And I think that investing in the A80 and T5 is not justified, and it only sounds better than the low frequencies that can be turned down on the T5 itself. In this case, you need to turn off the SB360 phase inverter and the same effect will be achieved ) The main problem of these two systems is that they can not reproduce the lower middle of 100-200 hz, referring to the subwoofer, which in turn is not of the best quality and can not work out this frequency range without distortion.

@@P1ayerII you can turn down bass on S360DB too, it has bass knob (-6db - +6db) on right speaker, i know its not the same as on standalone sub where you can basically turn off bass with gain knob but you can adjust bass on S360DB but it sounds like bass knob is at 0db in this video

I guess the speaker drivers are very similar T5 70watt, s360db 70watt. I can say from experience owning both the T5 and s350db (both have 70watt subs), the subwoofer of the s350db sounds better more controlled I think it's because of DSP correction, the T5 subwoofer sounds less controlled and can sound a bit unnatural and more difficult to blend in with the speakers (but that's just my opinion, the difference is small though).

It is more about the acoustics of the room than the subwoofers' performance

I really enjoy a bass that can be felt, but I also do not want to throw off the balance of the speakers for that. Do you feel then like the S2000MKIII covers well the bass part?

@@peterpeter8462 yeah, S2000MKIII has very nice bass going into low 40Hz. There will be less boom down low compared to T5 but the quality of bass will be much better. Plus much better midrange and treble

A300Pro is far above both. It has more natural, extended and transparent sound and far superior soundstage

I miself have S3000 pro and just got S2000 mkiii and find the S2000 more open, more detailed, faster, more extended highs, more linear frequency response, and the imaging leagus abouve. I have a hunch that Edifier changes the sound in different revisions of the speakers, it’s kinda the opposite of what i hear from your comparison on the channel. It’s not such an unusual thing, unfortunately, to have different sound revisions of speakers/headphones.

@@ionescugeorge2003 obviously Edifier tweaks the sound with every new iteration. I agree that S2000MKIII sounds more natural and transparent than S3000pro and would be my choice between those two for most of applications. Regards

Walter it is not as simple as you try to make it look. There is one big problem you forget about and it is the crossover point between the satllites and the subwoofer in S360DB set at 160Hz. When you start to trim the bass of S360DB you trim all the frequencies below 160Hz, not only the low bass. S360DB had bass set at "0" because, for one it is the way I do my comparisons (neutral settings) and also because when I dialed the bass down so that the midbass was less prominent than all the low bass was gone as was most of upper bass. In A80 + T5 combo I was able to get much more linear response because T5 was filtered above 70-80Hz and the A80 was in neutral settings as it would be. This allows for much better integration of sub/sat system and moche more "true to source" sound. Hope that helps

@@DSAUDIOreview yea i dont know why they tuned it like they did but turning down that bass helps a lot in this case im just saying that from my own experience and no one who buy these speakers and would have them in smaller room, would leave that bass knob at 0 because its too much bass so im just trying to say that you should test them in more real life use scenario btw this is an extreme example with S360DB but i think you should test all speakers in their best setting, i mean if speakers have bass, treble knobs or whatever then adjust them to their best, those knobs are there for it, or in case of S3000PRO where you have different modes, you should test them in mode that sounds the best or even do a comparison video when you compare those modes and if you dont want to use any knobs or any feature or something that are part of those speakers and test everything in "out of the box setting" then ok, i just dont understand that why not use something that is part of those speakers, its like you are robbing yourself... but ok its your way of doing this and you wont see any other comments from me on this theme / issue i can give you another example of very expensive speakers that does not sound that good out of the box from what i heard in reviews (i mean they sound good but not as something special which they are), Buchardt A500, but if you use features and settings that comes with those speakers, you will be blown away by that quality and you can jerk off to music :D i have one question though, are you planning to test S360DB in 2.0 "mode"? but i think when you turn off sub they turn into different setting and it would not be like the same sound from satellites just without sub but im not sure on this, maybe im just tripping when suddenly low end is missing

@@wbishop testing with different tone settings brings too many variables so I will not sway from my way of testing. Sometimes I do settings comparisons though. S3000pro have a video with all modes tested, look it up. I do not plan to test 2.0 version of S360DB. No one will buy full 2.1 system to use only the satellite speakers. That is nonesens

@@DSAUDIOreview i mean that 2.0 test like for example someone would like to know if its better to buy complete 2.1 to keep it more simple i guess or buy speakers with sub output R1700BTs or R2000DB for example and add a sub, that would show how good are those satellites compared to others, that was my thought process

I agree with the way the test are done here. True the knobs are there for finer turning of the sound but as a test they should remain in the neutral settings..

i have S360DB and i have it at -4db on bass knob and in EQ i have it 31hz: -1db, 62hz: -1db, 125hz: -2db, 250hz: --1 db and then its zero in the rest of EQ and 0 on treble knob, thats for close listening, if i crank up the volume and go away from PC then i turn down that bass to -5db on bass knob and boost treble a bit +2db on treble knob but those are normal adjustments close vs distant listening in this video it sounds like that bass knob is at 0

T5 and the sub of S260DB have a very similar design and internals, but they operate in a different way. Subwoofer in S360DB has a high crossover point between the sattelies and the sub (160Hz I think) so the sub plays not only te lower and midbass but also the upper bass. It is very hard to get proper balance between the satellites and the subwoofer because of that. T5 has variable cutoff point so You can adjust the system to sound much more linear and natural, hence the "true to source" sound in the bass response of A80+T5 combo

@@DSAUDIOreview good explanation, thanks. It is tricky when you have a fixed crossover point. I do think it sounds full because of higher crossover point, but it can muddy the mids. I get a that with my s350s. They could make the Hz knob on s360 sub since their satellites do go low to 60Hz, but not with s350db their midbase driver seems less potent.

@ Klipsch promedia 2.1 is garbage. Mid bass drivers fail eventually and need replacing. Crappy amps crap out eventually. Pretty damn fun speakers while they last tho.

Yes, unlike Vanatoo which cuts bass, Edifier is just accumulating bass which results in a very unbalanced boomy sound. This can only be fixed with a really good sub and careful tweaking.

@@1980VINZ any edifier speaker that has a sub out will cut out bass when you plug in a sub according to your set crossover.
