I like the way the engine starts so unnaturally fast, kinda reminds you that this helicopter isnt really human made

The pre-flight checks, the take off, the background details and not to forget to mention the sound design as well as animation. All of it leading up to a hilarious ending where they barely travel a kilometre just to mow down something in the apartment complex behind them. This is the content you can expect from Parry and I love it.

The chatter, the startup, the model... Just everything.

I've always liked the design of the hunter-chopper, it does create that sense that aliens saw a helicopter and said "huh, these monkeys might be onto something". Here you just made everything above 10x better, the cockpit (that actually fits human-sized things), the articulation points, the take-off procedure, it's all way better. plus the fact you don't really see helicopters in sci-fi materials is a bummer.

the blades looking like they turn slowly because they're conflicting with the camera shutter speed is a stroke of genius

I just noticed, when the rotor blades reached higher speeds, the curve in the blade flattens. nice touch.

I love how they actually do checkups on the flaps, tail and everything. Parry focuses on such little details that I love it.

The sound design is just perfection

For us Half Life fans it means a lot having someone like you in the community. The sheer amount of talent you have as a creator is mind-blowing and every video honestly leaves me with goosebumps

God DAMN. Call this one of the most detailed and impressive model showcases ever. The background chatter and incoming Combine Transport in the background tell a story as this divinely rendered Hunter Chopper sets up to provide support in unrivalled detail. From the reveal of the gun to the double layered cockpit to the rotor spinning to life nearly instantly and kicking up a storm as it does, all to handle a building of Anti Citizens. It also shows a narrative escalation as far as your Half Life story goes, with a less warm colour palette, more robotic sounding troops and the significant escalation of force seen with the introduction of air support. ALL with a singular shot. Its impressive work, keep it up!

The double cockpit caprice, really shows how protected the pilot(s) are.

I love the details, like pilot checking his controls before startup at 0:25, such an awesome detail.

Holy, unlike the regular helicopter taking seconds/minutes to get it flying, the heli here just zooms and flys immediently.

The startup being so fast and aggressive is something I’ve never considered but fits the chopper perfectly.

No one ever comments on these video’s hand-crafted level design that perfectly encapsulates a very accurate Source 2 Half-Life world beyond what we’ve seen in Alyx.

The sound, that sudden startup, the eerily precise and stiff hovering; you really knocked it out of the park with your interpretation of the Hunter Chopper. It feels so uncannily recognizable, so human in design but so alien in action.

I love the instantaneous takeoff! It makes the hunter chopper feel like a proper piece of alien engineering that's been melded with a helicopter. Faster, more powerful, like the aircraft version of an overwatch soldier :)

The way the blades speed up when starting to spin illustrates how the combine took human tech and perfected it.

I love how you can see the blades straighten as they increase in speed.

God damn the way those blades start up and reach max speed almost instantaneously, paired with the sound design... another banger as usual Also, that subtle addition of the CP van driving to the apartment in the background. Love your inclusion of "blink and you'll miss it" story details

Man, everything, from the placement of stuff, the background detail, the custom models. Amazing. Not to mention the animation and, god the sound design. Honestly the thing that absolutely blew me away was the helicopter spinning it's rotors up, such a powerful sequence.

As the comment about the unnatural engine startup stated, this vid really does a great job describing the combine occupation in a small way. Appears human on the outside, but is actually cross-dimensional/alien when you look under the hood

The way you can also imagine whats going on through the CP’s radio is insane, and the show of how powerful the hunter chopper actually is.

I've always wanted to know how the hatch would open. That's a pretty great depiction. And the way the rotors just immediately reach max speed makes it so intimidating.

Damn was that good looking, I like how he even did the control surface pre-check before takeoff.

That startup sound is haunting. Perfect amount of bass and mechanical noise, and it sounds just unnatural enough to raise the hairs on your arm. Absolutely incredible work, and I can't wait to see more.

The way it starts up so quickly yet takes so long to move really shows you how heavy it is. It makes my skin crawl just thinking about the fact that it's probably that heavy due to how much armor and ammo it's carrying.

"Hey ECHO, see that room over there?" "10-4." "Fuck it up."

Love the instant startup of the rotors. Reminds me of that scene in the first transformers movie where the helicopter rotors just instantly stop. Super unnatural and alien looking

Ah man, I absolutely LOVE this The Combine Overwatch Forces is still a Professional Military Force that needs maintanence on their vehicles, bases where supplies and all that are kept, engineering teams that keeps machines up and running and so on etc. And this perfectly capture that, the Hunter-Chopper finishes up their maintanence & refits, gotten their mission and proceed to fly and destoy their target! Animation is lovely, idea is perfecfly excuted, my god Parrygod, you are among the Top Quality creators in the Half-life community! Keep up the great work, please continue these!

This is awesome. Though I expected the helicopter gunfire to be a little bit louder, mostly hitting viewers with echoes from the surrounding buildings.

Absolutely awesome. Love the way the rotors violently kick into gear. really pushes that this is an alien machine, based on human conventions but built by something inhuman. You expect a slower sort of wind up like regular helicopters but you subverted that nicely, even if it was just to cut the video from taking too long. Well done!

imagine you being a citizen in City 17, and you hear a horrifying sound of a chopper coming from the window

The Hunter Chopper is my favorite Combine vehicles in HL2 including Overwatch Pulse Rifle. Since the chopper is based from Earth design mixed with Combine tech, this make me thinking what would Combine MBT(Main Battle Tank) looks like? I mean they takeover Earth and Earth weapons manufacturers, right? Imagine what else can they create with Combine tech? Combine Jet Fighter. Combine Submarine. Combine Aircraft Carrier. Combine Motorcycle. Combine UAV/UGV.

i dont know much about animating, but when i saw the suspension movement animated on wheel... yeah. this is so good.

I like how precise the Hunter-Chopper moves. When it lifts off, it just hovers very close to the ground while raising its gear and activating its weapons without immediately flying away…

Oh, it's so damn smooth. The precise hovering as it retracts its landing gear, the accelerated rotor startup sequence. It makes it feel like a truly elegant piece of machinery, and fits with the low-altitude maneuverability we see them with in the games. Add to that the armour of these things being immune to small-arms, and it's no wonder the Combine uses them for counter-insurgency ops.

I never saw those thing that menacing, he literally makes them more scary than usual. The animation, detail, sounds... its incredible, man...

Absolutely adore the attention to detail in this animation, from the quick check to make sure the control surfaces are functioning to the main rotors to the hunter-chopper gaining collective before taking off, and the whole retracting landing gear/arming the main gun process. Really this applies to every single one of your S2FM videos, Great work!

First I thought the chopper was a drawn concept art. Wtf. Awesome. The only strange thing is the distance to the target. xD I also love the way the blades went from 5% to 100% in just a second. This gives you a feel of brutal force and power.

i love everything about that model :) its well made and on a design and technical point its really functionnal, i also love the propeler blades in the middle that also serve as a gyroscope, or the helicopter blades that are curved on the roof to maximise the efficiency, its not just a cool design, its also a really cool functionnal sci-fi vehicle, and i love it :)

This guy is the S2FM equivalent to the Astartes guy. God tier animations and sound design.

You never cease to amaze me, visuals, concepts, everything is just perfect.

One detail that came especially to me was at around 0:16 you can see, that the cockpit has 2 layers of glass. No idea if that is like that in real life, but I find that a neat detail, which could be reason why maybe you cannot disable the vehicle by shooting the driver.
