NTA. Tell your own Mommy, if she feels SO strongly about it. Why doesn't SHE give up HER vacation to watch them. After all she is their grandma AND has childcare experience.

NTA,your sister and her husband need to go to therapy , not treat you like free babysitters for them to solve things during a vacation Also,those children need to be disciplined and taught good manners ,they seem like little menaces to the society Your mother shouldn’t have commented anything especially since she doesn’t want to take care of hyper/undisciplined children (how hypocritical of her) 🙄

NTA Not Your Circus not your monkeys. Those kids are not OP's responsibility and it is on the parents to care for them or provide alternate care. If sis doesn't want to watch the kids but thinks a holiday can magically save her relationship, then hire a sitter to spend the week with them at home. it is one thing to ask others to watch the kids for a single day, something else to expect a week's childcare. I do wonder if the boys are acting up because they can sense the tension in their parent's relationship, they all need therapy as a family and individually/ as a couple.

NTA, there is something wrong with OP’s sister’s parenting. Also, you are not their parent, OP is their aunt, she shouldn’t be expected to take care of children she has no parental responsibility for. That’s the actual parent’s job. So don’t feel guilty about it.

If she thinks that time away from the kids will save her marriage then the marriage is already unsalvageable, given that their kids are a fundamental and unavoidable part of their marriage everywhere except on this hypothetical holiday.

No, anyone who complains (mom) would be volunteered to be the babysitter. But honestly, if they can afford it, hire a babysitter for the trip that either stays home with the kids or attends the holiday as well. Being family doesnt mean babysitter

Umm,…what about the father. Why is the responsibility solely on the mother, the grandmother, the aunt. How do we skip the father? Why are we babying him? He made the children. He stays away to avoid helping at home and also has no responsibility for just one week of vacation? That’s crazy. At what point does he begin parenting?

NTA & can totally relate. Also am childless by choice. Our niece has two daughters, bookending a brother. I would take either/both girls for an entire week, no questions asked. You could not pay me enough, however, to spend a single afternoon with the boy.

The reason that marriage is on the rocks is your sister's behavior I honestly doubt it if you accepting to watch the kids for the whole week would do any good because more than likely she'll. Just sit there and Lounge about Enjoying a child free vacation Will you and family and the husband will still be helping you and your family take care of them. Stressing

Yea, op’s sister doesn’t love her kids, she letting them run wild and buy/do whatever they want that’s why they are so badly behaved. The dad on the other hand is basically a single parent but worse, with him trying to parent his kids and op’s sister keep undoing it and making it worse, he better off doing every alone, at least then the kids can be watched by a more qualified adult while he works.
