What are they going to do though? if they attend to Standard procedure - 1.be too far out for strikes 2.be too close in (close the distance) 3. clinch and take Opponent down - they Need takedowns. any Greco / Judo Training teaches you that. Greco/ Judo is not only suited for taking People down, because they LEARN takedowns, but because they practise them, in Training AND in tournaments. Every fight starts Standing up there. Like a " real street fight" you fight like you Train in my opinion (or spar, or fight in tournaments)

@g0thboi_hc

Matthew Mauldon some competitors aren't wrestlers and rather not give their opponents the advantage of their takedowns, others just like to pull guard, and play bottom however wrestlers do make a more enjoyable and exciting match. But if it's guys like the miyao brother's you'll rarely see them wrestle but yet they are highly advanced and very technical competitors. Other then that this was a very good match.

To be honest he did give him chances to take him down and every time it just ended in guard.
@samuelpark7864
@samuelpark7864 5 лет назад
if youre too scared to drop to ur butt, then go do wrestling. There's a reason why the best bjj players pull guard, its cuz a better guard always wins. Also the main thing that separates bjj from catch wrestling is the emphasis on the guard.

there needs to be rules that deduct points for the man that's not engaged, like wrestling has. You wanna sit in guard? Great, you'll get fried on the scorecard. Jiujitsu needs to reconcile that the guard is not a very advantageous position in fighting unless you are bombing the inexperienced

@Blackandaware
@Blackandaware 6 лет назад
Truth Seeking Missile the whole point is once you start trying to inflict damage you will open yourself up. Half the reason jiu jitsu is so compelling is because we want to see how good your guard is. And I’m a wrestler. So whenever someone pulls guard and is completely passive/defensive I get extremely frustrated and consider them somewhat of a pussy.... but if I can’t pass their guard what can I really say? And if I want to do mma then I’m not going to compete much at jiu jitsu tournaments because I can’t punch and kick etc
